So, a lot of people have different opinions of harem. Some good, some bad, most of them ruin the story, etc. What I want to know in this time-killing thread is: what is your most harem-ish harem had you ever read, why it's good or bad and if you still reading it or not.

Again, this is just a fun thread to kill time. Feel free to praise or flame a series that you love or hate.

Sevens. It's completely translated and final wife count is 25. Wives have personalities and depth. And the author makes sure to go the extra mile here. Most of the wives are princesses and the like, so MC choosing the main wife gives him tons of headaches as it could cause a war. A lot of the wives don't see eye to eye too. They even massacre each other in a joint dream to alleviate the pressure. A friend of the MC envies him, so MC gets revenge by setting a harem for him for the guy to understand what is true hell. But this is just the harem. Sevens as a whole is pretty awesome, although the first books are a bit slow.

Well, it doesn't matter. I'll go with the comedic one.

Have you ever seen a MC with a black hole of a harem attractor so big that they managed to woo all the capture targets, the rivals, the secondary and tertiary characters and even people that didn't even appear in the story while being as dense as a brick (nono, even more than that!)? Look no futher, "I Reincarnated into an Otome Game as a Villainess With Only Destruction Flags" is the only right answer here.

 

i'd have to go with AST, with LLS as a semi-close second. having the entire plot pretty much get derailed just so the MC can run back and forth screwing his women just gets annoying after awhile, especially once he stops doing anything plot related at all and just alternates between running to different women and crafting for numerous chapters at a time. it's an insult to filler arcs.

at least with the others i've read, the women are either completely neglected and forgotten until the author remembers they exist and moves on shortly after, are active companions that actually travel with him, or that seem to have lives other than screwing the MC (even if their existence is faint and only there to fill a cliche role on the harem checklist). in short, these harems still have a moving plot while they're present, unlike those named above

Magika no Kenshi to Shoukan Maou, I love that novel since the MC relationship with the girls evolves, he also matures a lot.
The MC behaves like a normal mangina MC at the beginning but mans up a lot after a few volumes and the girls have a lot more depth than normal harems so it's interesting.

 

Mushoku Tensei

I think it's almost literally the only GOOD harem story out there, since it actually gives voice to, and creates personalities for, the wives (of which there are 3). They all have big impacts on the story, and are important in different ways. Not only that, but you actually care what happens to them.

The romance is done over time, which is definitely a plus since the "introduced into the story 3 paragraphs ago and now I love the main character!!" kind of story is terrible for letting the reader develop any attachments to the characters at all.

 

Oukoku e Tsuzuku Michi. it's my favorite harem story because the MC unabashedly is out to have sex with as many women as he can. The harem members are all aware of this as well. it's great enjoyment overall to me. always get a laugh outta it
