Just do it like MAL does, give a reason why it's recommended. Novels that are being recommended on other novel's page should naturally have some similarities and requirements of writing down a reason will stop the abuse.

that's why I put it in parenthesis, there isn't a difference between the two in this case. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear :sweating_profusely:

For me, it seems to be a spam :hmm:

If we're suggesting things for the recommendation feature is it not possible to give a little text box to describe the similarities between the two you're recommending for each other like MAL does? The fact that there's no moderation either and you can so easily just recommend anything without justifying makes this system kinda shitty.

I have no problems with yaoi recommendations, but... when my genres say to exclude yaoi, seems like it ahould be excluded from recommendations too.

When I search for a novel in the recommendations section I first look at how many people recommended that novel. The more the better. As for yaoi novels I doubt there would be so many people spamming them if they really didn't have something in common. So if I see just a single recommendation for that recommended novel I usually choose to skip it. Majority over minority.

Rather than a downvote which I feel would be abused I wouldn't mind other counters like "offtopic" or "mistaken" or such. Basically counters that could help tell which posts to ignore >_>
Well, I'm sure theres better wayz to label them than that though.

Um theres an easy fix for this use the block tag feature and input yaoi if you dont want to see it some people actually like bl believe it or not so perhaps having them in your recommendation is for other people? Its a crazy thought i know (not a fan of yaoi myself i use this method)

edit: just saying i thought that the yaoi novels might have had relevance... but just that they also had yaoi like i mean there should be some like that i cant imagine there arent any yaoi novels that dont have good stories to go along with them

From what i saw the block tag feature does not work with recommendations. And the problem isn't that people don't like yaoi but that the recommendation function exists so that when people like a novel and want something similar they can just look at the recommendations and there are some novels like that. What's happening is that someone or more people aren't recommending similar novels but yaoi novels to advertise them or troll other people.

back then someone often used to recommend a yaoi shota novel, I fall for it more than once, so now when I see some stupid thread, I often recommend it too.

Thanks for reporting it. It's been fixed.

I'll also take care of the person trolling NU, thanks.

It's not about liking it or not. It's about recommending it when there's no similarity between the two novels.

    That's not how recommendation works.

I have a few suggestions to try to fix this.

1.Make it so a novel won't be added to the recommendation list unless multiple recommendations have been made. This way just one or two random idiots making recommendations won't be able to do anything with just one account.

    2. make recommendations only possible by people who have accounts for a certain length of time and maybe even put a small requirement of at least 10 forum posts. Nothing major just a small limit so that someone can't just make a dozen account casually to get around the first part.

    3. Create a report button or similar for recommendations that seem false but put a requirement on it like a longer length of time for the account or a higher post limit. To avoid the devs getting spammed maybe have them only see reported recommendations that get a certain number of reports somehow.

Even if you do one or all of these it may not 100% stop it. But it will at least make it a lot harder to abuse the recommendation section feature. Because I for one hate Yaoi and I respect other people and their tastes .... so I want people to respect mine and not shove that stuff in my face. If it's a legit recommendation I"ll overlook it but I absolutely do not appreciate abuse like this.

People should not abuse the recomendation section to do spam, to begin with the recomendation part should be keep short (it would be a nightmare if there were a unlimited list) at the very least one shouldn't recomend a yaoi novel in a hetero novel and vice versa.
