(Monthly) Short Story Writing Prompts

Thanks to @Siostar and @andykhang we have more prompts! Sure there's only one day or so left but... Go vote!

1. Tangled: Escape felt like a far distant dream, that hazy world beyond the light so hard to see. How do you free yourself from the claws of virtual reality when it keeps dragging you in?
2. Tiles: One by one, they stack up together and support each other through all weather. If one starts cracking, will the foundation still be strong enough to protect what they hold dear?
3. Supporter: There will always be a main character. And they say everyone is their own story's main character. But how about them who has the role of supporting the main character? The wingmen. The advisor. The partner. What are their stories and their struggle?
4. Cyber Mask: They are known to be a happy and always supportive user. Ask them a question, they will answer. Ask them for assistance, they will answer. Makes you wonder hows' the real person behind that user, eh?
5. A Riding In Fairy Tale: We always had heard of the famous bedtime stories from childhood, but.... what if you become a character of the very same story?! Maybe you will find a different truth to the same story?
   
6. Inverse Truth: When truth is lie, and lie is truth...When reality isn't what you think it is, what will you do? (said that, but you could basically made it by just having character saying truth to the face and lie inward though)
7. Because I'm not an idiot: Make a story about a character who take the most obvious route (doesn't matter in what perceptive) while other just charge in. It's time for brain to beat idiocy in the most humiliating way.
8. Craftmanship: Just make a story about crafting thing. Detail the way thing are create from the hand of a master.
9. Mortal Among Gods: Title above. Make a story about someone among mortal live among being of godlike power (or just ordinary among extraordinary, your choice), and their interaction.

You can mix all 4 of these perfectly. 1 and 2 fit very well together in the first place, as the topic is about mental issues, while 3 and 4 are talking about the role of a character. If you shove the first two as the central (inner) conflict of the story (seeing how 1 and 4 are both about virtual things anyways) for a 'supporting' character through the 'net... you get a story? I guess.

 

Mortal among gods and supporter sounds exactly the same. You have the xianxia mc, his harems of overpowered unrivalled beauties and his yesmen.
lol auto correct had teammate right next to yesmen.
Out of curiosity how many people had the same idea for these two topics?

 

I never even connected the two.

 

Just think of the supporter as a character in a slice of life instead of a xianxia, and it suddenly has nothing to do with the other.

 

Im always been called but I have never written anything new.

 

Always a chance to write this time!

 

I have lots of draft of every months theme.

 

You can always deliver them late if you want! \(^^)/

 

Well if I have time to write then I'll probably try to roll everything into one story as every theme seem to fit in this story in my head. It'll be elements of each and a few major themes.

That's the prompt yes How you incorporate it will be up to you. Otherwise, you could also have a look at the old prompts and see if there's any that springs stories into your mind!

 

Okay, I'll catch up on the MYBWLY stuff and then think of some ideas.
I might not come up with anything though.

A virtual world doesn't need to be VR, it could be someone lost on their on delusions, or someone that is on a dream, or a coma, or altistic (is that the world).

There are other ways if playing with it, be creative~
