So... is avatar anime enough to be considered... "anime"? I know technically the definition of anime is just animation, so it can be any animation. But we sort of use it to refer to Asian animation. When the art and style is anime-inspired like avatar, does it count? ---- I just started watching it, only on episode 3 right now! I'm posting it on YouTube if you wanna follow along and hang out:
Too many different definitions floating around to give a clear yes or no. But to me it didn't feel like one even if inspired by it.
Chinese, korean, japanese, american doesn't matter: Avatar is an anime [period] Chinese, korean, japanese doesn't matter: they are all manga [period] Same with the books: they are all (light) novels [period]
It is on crunchyroll so maybe? 'The series is presented in a style that combines anime with American cartoons' -Wikipedia page for Avatar
Weird, re read https://forum.novelupdates.com/threads/forum-rules.29321/ again, and don't see anything saying even "self-promotion" isn't allowed. Closest thing I found was a "don't advertise discord channels" (dunno what discord is...). Or don't post a video/link without a conversation. Def agree that it is. But dunno if it can't be both. That's how I feel. Hmm. The manga thing people argue too. That's true about crunchyroll. ---- I mostly wanted to engage and talk about it as I watch each episode, but before I could even do that, I couldn't decide which forum to post it under... it's so in between @_@
i blame tony for being lazy and not updating the rules his mods uphold. also i asked parth if it is or not. also, most self promotion that involve benefit (yours being views which if enough will bring money or give you the ability to get money. ohh youtube) like links to games to register which are actually a referal and such are not viewed kindly. i guess anyways. i asked parth. if he gives a green light. good for you
Pingu is the only anime. The best anime. Everything else are cartoons designed by aliens trying to condition humanity into loving big eyes so they can descend and hunt for willing probe candidates without all the hassle. Can you feel the conspiracy yet, noot noot?
Why does it even matter whether it is an anime or not? If i want to watch it i will watch it, anime or no anime
For me anime is the same as cartoon really after seeing it’s definition(at least what makes sense in it)
correct me if i'm wrong but from what i've learned. for japanese people anime and cartoon are the same. same for comics and manga only westerners or foreigners categorize anime as japanese exclusive animation though imo if you categorize Avatar: the last Airbender for western standard, it is not anime but i would say close, yep. although the art style is close to the japanese one, the animation style is pretty western flavor for me.
Mostly because I'm uncertain where to even post about it lol. I'm scared of mentioning it in either places and getting "this isn't anime!!!" Or "that's an anime!"
Generally just curious. I mean, if a person posts a link to their novel translation and etc, isn't that the same?? Though I suppose a leave may be granted for novels since that's the whole point of the place. Imo this would be fine, as long as it's an actual discussion. Like if someone posts their reaction to some anime, and what they thought about that episode/etc I'd think that would be fine. I'd assume "watch my anime reaction" wouldn't. But this is just me assuming. Still new here. I've heard that before. But I dunno if it's true. Like, in Japan, on their Netflix. Is there a cartoon and an anime category separate? How do they categorize Tom and Jerry? Teen Titans?
