Question two questions about kino no tabi & gakuen kino

1. do anyone of you know where to find vol 1 of kino no tabi
2. does reading gakuen kino spoil a later read of kino no tabi

as a side note, i didn't read any of them yet and is planning to

Gakuen Kino spoils a few chapters of the main series.

As for the first volume, only the first half of the book has been fan translated. The chapters are listed in the NU page.

I'd advise against reading the Tokyopop version because it adds many details and scenes that weren't in the original text. You can skip the first volume for now without much of a problem.
