New Novel by TL A Monster Who Level Up @A_Passing_Wanderer https://www.novelupdates.com/series/the-returner/ 6 Chapters already out, the novel really similar to Seoul Station Necromancer and the comedy isn't bad.
it reminds me of Everyone Else is a Returnee when i red 1000 years and come back home lol will wait for more ch before i start reading it
PHUNG! Poor dude mad at MC for making him look like a fool. Hahahahahahaha BTW, this novel and Seoul Station's Necromancer are both 2016. EDIT: Added some tags on novel page based on translated chapters.
Seoul station is too repetitive and a monster who level up are a bit boring for me. But this novel seems have an interesting start that I can get into. Lets see where this goes from here.. Hopefully it can keep being interesting instead of those powertrip harem novel like infinite competitive dungeon society..
Oh, that was fast! Thanks for opening up this thread, @FHandsome !! I appreciate it. Seventh chapter is out, but it doesn't show up on NU links. I think I might have made another mistake somewhere....
read the first 4 chapters, so far it feels like Seoul Station Necromancer but there was no game system/stats and the MC felt more like a typical angsty teen JP MC when he just got back as opposed ot an actual 'demon lord' (except instead of OMG RICE when he got back it was OMG VENDING MACHINES)
The first 3 chs were very interesting and I really felt the atmosphere and the hype . The next chs were good too but I dont want the novel to be a comedy thing
It interesting, but i have some concerns. Firstly, he killed a whole world to return to earth for what? Cola and the feeling of asphalt! it was a bad start. Not his family, but cola.... From wha i think time can really help anyone recover from simple nostalgia. he lived for 1000 years, he probably did alot of things in that time. met people, killed people, looked at amazing sceneries, destroyed said amazing places. but he in the end couldnt get over coca cola and high rise buildings. Secondly if he as chased for 1000 yers then there is no way, anyone with the same set of experience would have let the police offer talk to him like that. He would have destroyed or have inner thoughts going all boeut killing or rap... that bitch (Ahem..) Anyways, from the starting chapters i can definetely say, Mc is not going to act like a real 1000 old black magician who was chased all throuhg the world. but I'll still read it because i donthave much material to read these days. It's either these kind of light novels or real books.
This is actually a pretty good start. Only 7 chapters in but still is fun and enjoyable. I'll be following this to see what kind of place he is gonna make for himself in the World and make my final verdict then. Your entitled to your own opinion but you have made a mistake in your assessment. He killed a whole World to return to Earth for Cola and Asphalt? This is incorrect. Pretty clearly so. He was so invested in returning to Earth because his memories of Earth were something that would never fade and his memories in that other world came and went with the passage of time. He was living hundreds of years unable to forget his time in Earth. It would obviously become idealized over such a long period of time when he can't forget them. It is actually pretty easy to imagine why he wanted to return so badly given the context. Nostalgia has nothing to do with it and his fleeting and passing experiences in the new world are an even bigger motivator for him to return to a time and place where he isn't cursed with immortality. You are focusing way too much on Cola and Asphalt here. Really. They are only the first things he saw once he returned. He seemingly had no control over where he was returned to. The first things he saw to confirm he was likely back in his world were asphalt and a vending machine. It is one of his character traits that he is a bit mentally unstable so I see it fit that he goes crazy over the very first things he has seen after returning. His motivation for returning wasn't Cola... c'mon. That's a pretty dishonest or plainly incorrect assessment. It's only chapter 7, he'll get to his main reasons for returning yet. They don't have to happen the literal moment he returns. As for him acting improperly in his interrogation. Given the synopsis I see why he is behaving in such a way but I am mostly just chalking it up to him not being all there upstairs if you know what I mean. I would have preferred if he was more collected and scheming but the novel is going for a more comedic approach and as long as it stays true to itself I can't detract this objectively from the novel. Only subjectively and even then this is still being done well so I can barely subtract anything from it.
It is tagged as comedy on their website so........ likely an action comedy. Any word on what kind of potential shecdule you are aiming for or are you still getting a feel for the novel?
