A Will Eternal / A Thought Through Eternity
    Author: Er Gen

A light hearted novel. Good representation of the word 'entertainment' but it is more than that. If you try to actually look at it in different angles. It teaches you the 'Dao of Eternal Shamelessness'. In layman's term 'Never give up to pursue your Way of Life'.

Every chapter makes you want more.

I liked RSSG - "Reincarnation of the Strongest Sword God" now at least up to chapter 479, what series did you also like and rank among your favorites?

I enjoyed the good translations of LMS, Coiling Dragon, Desolate Era (did not finish it though), Spellgun, Savage Divinity, Two Worlds, Azarinth Healer, Countdown (Reality Benders Book #1), Dakota Krout´s series, The Land series by Aleron Kong, Arthur Stone, Alexey Osadchuk, D. Rus, Cosimo Yap, Ell Donsaii, Versatile Mage, Beginner´s Luck, First Login, Underworld - Level Up or Die, Tony Corden

I would have enjoyed WMW if not for that stupid chip. At times it felt like Chip should be the real MC.

    Everlasting Immortal Firmament
    Author: Guan Qi
The MC is intellectual, he plans before taking any action. He now how to cut his losses, when to retreat and when to press forward. But most of all, he doesn't act rashly. Most of the time, everything is under his control, and he makes others do his bidding. There is kingdom building in the novel. The characters aren't 2 dimensional. Even the enemies have their stories narrated. Characters aren't forgotten just for author convenience or to introduce new characters. Each has his or her role to play.

WMW isn't so bad in the chip department. Age of Adepts is much, much worse in that aspect. At least Leylin supplies the direction for the computation to take. The MC in AoA even asks the chip for the optimum way to go about something. (At least up to the point where I read before I grew too disgusted with it)

Getting back to topic, my recommendations for must-read novels:
    • Cultivation Chat Group - a funny breath of fresh air, especially after you've read more than a couple of xianxias. Even at ch2000+, it hasn't grown stale. There's always something interesting happening, author keeps of finding ways to add humor to the novel.
    • Tales of Herding Gods - ongoing novel. Very interesting initial premise, story line is unique and doesn't take the path of reimagining characters from popular Chinese classics like Investiture of the Gods or Journey to the West like more than a couple of other xianxias I've read. Not much repetition, tropes and page fillers like annoying noisy audiences or auctions or spoiled young masters are nowhere to be found. Lots of humor too. :D
    • Douluo Dalu II (aka Unrivaled Tang Sect) - I consider it one of the classics, TJSS's best work IMO. It's rare to find a novel with detailed group battles in addition to one on ones (most novels focus almost exclusively on the MC), and I really like the cultivation system as well as the variety of abilities. DD3 isn't as good IMO, the MC is way way OP, storyline was sacrificed in favor of power ups. DD2 gets the balance just right.
    • Archfiend - there are a couple of hiccups to this novel (MC changes cultivation course a bit too often I think, author took a while to get used to his switch from modern setting to proper xianxia / fantasy), but all that is overweighed IMO by the knack the author has of building, keeping, and releasing tension. Battles that end story arcs are incredibly epic, with chapters regularly keeping you on the edge of your seat as to what happens next. A lot of other novels have no tension at all, with the MC either being too OP or a too heavy hand with plot armor.
    • A Sorcerer's Journey - it's sad that QI really bungled on the translation of this novel, leaving people no way to read it except via MTL. Incredible world building, and the MC's character actually grows instead of being a cookie cutter template all the way. I've never seen another novel where the MC seems so human, with his joys and sorrows described in poignant detail (while still being relevant to the story). Top notch novel IMO (if you forgive the pacing / style of the first 100 or so chapters).

It was pretty horrible. Paragraphs were missing. It is like when I watched a TV Show not aware that about 3 minutes of content were shown after the credits and missed over 30 minutes of content from 10 episode haha. Moto Kare... that sucked

Felt kind of stupid to be but maybe it is just that I can't stand Chinese comedy. Well I enjoy Stephen Chow and Deng Chao, so it is just the type used in these types of novels

I feel like the comedy section needs to be fleshed out more. Way too little for a genre full of gems. I absolutely second A Will Eternal under comedy (had me literally rolling in my bed in tears) and basically anything translated by Prince Revolution.

And using the "comedy" tag under genre doesn't help at all because most of those novels are so unfunny/try hard they'll take your smile instead of give you one lol

Also potential genre: BL. It's a pretty polarizing genre of novels so I think it's one that could be differentiated from the rest

Comedy, I didn't find any comedy. If you are talking about anime, EIF anime is completely different from novel. The anime is made comedic to target larger audience. There are no such stupid comedy, hell, there is hardly any comedy in the novel. It is a very serious novel.

I did not know there was an anime. I was stuck in a rut with novels so I might have been too harsh on it
I am referring to the friend, the princess or something and the auction part.
    What chapter was that?

It might be Long Weqing, but I don't remember any auction. Or are you talking about the third book, where there was a shop selling musical instruments. I don't remember any comedy scene.

I think it was a fat friend. Maybe it was not an auction but I remember that you had a group of assassins trying to steal a treasure. He killed one or two of them. What chapter was that?

Yaoi is man on man homosexual pornography written/drawn by straight women authors for straight women audience. They are always bishonen and one of them is the "woman" of the relationship.

Bara is man on man homosexual pornography written/drawn by gay men authors for gay men audience.

Boy Love is non pornographic male on male romance, usually underaged teenagers.

Some western sites treat Yaoi as if it just means "Gay" regardless of which of those 3 categories it should actually fall into. But honestly, if you are going to lump them together then you should actually call it "Gay" instead of "Yaoi".

    ----
edit: huh, that is weird. Wikipedia says
Yaoi = Boy Love = By women for women
Bara = Men Love = By gay men for gay men
So that would mean Wujigege is actually correct in saying that boy love is a redundant tag in case of yaoi.
