I think it’s safe to say a lot of us on this website don’t sleep as much as we should. And there are those of us who like me are insomniacs who can’t get to sleep at times. What do you do when you can’t sleep? What kind of things do you try? There are the usual stuff like having hot milk/cocoa, listening to calm music etc. But are there anything unusual that you do as well that you think helps you? There are times where I’ve had coffee at night and I feel it does help me get to sleep. But that could be my imagination haha. So what’s your trick to getting to sleep?
I hug the person next to me. Then I stay awake for the rest of the night as I lay in shock , wondering who the fuck this person is.

I perform the following breathing exercise: (i) Breathe in through your nose for four seconds (ii) Hold your breath for seven seconds. (iii) Slowly breathe out through your mouth for eight seconds. (iv) Aaand repeat this process until you fall asleep. I usually fall asleep in just twelve minutes.
I sometimes listen to some ASMR in youtube which actually helped me sleep. I recommend searching for an ASMR that helps in sleeping and relaxation.
Masturbating and asmr.... Sometimes 1h long warm showers Or laying under a pile of pillows and a "fatboy" (is that even what theyre called) I think relaxation hypnosis might help too

Look at the cieling and try keeping your eyes wide open, you will start yawning soon or watch video of ppl yawning
I listen to scary stories on YouTube to help me sleep. It's not so much the stories that help me sleep but the narrators. Otherwise I like to make top 5 lists in my head of random stuff (i.e. top 5 novels, top 5 anime, top 5 manga, top 5 things I need to google etc.) and then I'll debate why they deserve that spot in my head. Lol. Helps me sleep in no time. I also have an oil diffuser that I turn on to help me relax which makes it much easier to sleep.
If I’ve stayed awake for atleast 18 hours then I sleep within 100 pages tho~? And when I was smaller and used to crib my mother on not being able to sleep she told me to just chant some gods name 1000 times...... Oddly enough, I fell asleep real soon~?
Read a ton, do some light exercise, drink some coffee, or listen to some music with a complex beat or lyrics. Usually don't have to move on from the first one.
Oh and sometimes i just lay still and try to make a story in my mind I fall asleep somewhere between thoughts
For some reason some of my favorite tv shows puts me to sleep. Mainly Because Science, Roadkill, Roadkill Garages, Hot Rod Garage, Dirt Everyday, Engine Masters, and any good stand up comedy. Put any of those on when I am tired and I am out in less 5 minutes.
Looking at my phone should have make me me stay awake, yet sometimes it has the opposite effect for me. If I got sleepy, then I will sleep. If I'm still awake, then continue reading novels or watching youtube videos, no matter how long. Just go with the flow
