Both are good but Skyrim is more enjoyable due to the better engine but Oblivion system of levelling was one of the best I've ever seen.

    Skyrim quests are just chores.
Tonbe honest you don't really look like a legendary warrior in any way since none of the NPCs give you any special attention plus the mechanics suck. For example, destruction magic that is supposed to do damage is absolutely useless and can't be your main focus because if the low damage output(on the highest difficulty or the previous one) and is a chore to level it up without using exploits. The faction quests are just dump, especially the one about the mages guild. Why you ask? Well because in 3 quests everyone trusts you like you are the fucking savior that popped out of nowhere. Anyway just play skyblivion or just use mods on Oblivion to make it better

Oblivion faction quests were better than their Skyim equivalents. Thieves guild is way better in Oblivion, becoming the gray fox. Same with Dark brotherhood, the whodunit quest where you kill everyone at the party was great. Mages guild better in Oblivion though not as good as the previous two. Fighter's guild vs Companions, both are great but I really like how the fighter's guild really felt like the progression of an MC in an adventurers guild that is so often mentioned in the novels on this site.

Also the main quest imperials/storm clocks is even more dump than the other quests since your character is probably not a native of skyrim so he doesn't really care and even if he is, speaking realistically here, going with the storm clocks will probably ruin skyrim entirely since they can't win against the thalmor. Ans also just something to see how much the mechanics suck. Max illusion, stealth and archery and see how you break the game. Oh and restoration is absolutely useless since you can carry 100 wheels of goat cheese with you

Skyrim because I love when it snows in the snow covered regions there. Also the spell system and horse controls are more polished.

Are you asking why I don't own Skyrim?
I don't feel like there's any need to own it since I already played it with friends.

only thing I can complain about in oblivions combat, is trying to fight in 3rd person. The AI in oblivion is better as enemies will actively body block you so archers can damage your health. They even will prioritize keeping mages alive while they fight you. In skyrim? "Rush at him until he dies!"

Oblivion. I replay Skyrim the most, since I like to roleplay whilst ignoring the setting around me, and the vast, meaningless world of Skyrim is great for that, but...

I almost always ignore the main plot of Skyrim. I like dragons as much as the next person (if not more), but having them drop down from the sky like pigeons while you're trying to buy your morning groceries is, while comical, an underwhelming annoyance. Once I learned I could skip spawning them in the game... I haven't really looked back.
On the other hand, I feel like the main quest for Oblivion is actually somewhat personal and meaningful to my character, so putting it off for reasons other than needing cash/equipment to carry it out feels wrong. I can roleplay to my heart's content and have the main plot make a difference to the character I'm acting out.

I also prefer the archery mechanics in Oblivion, since it felt like more of a skill to shoot, and I much prefer the side quests and faction quests, since they're much more impactful...

In short, I only really enjoy Skyrim because I can essentially make my own game inside it.

AI in oblivion sucks as much as AI in skyrim. You either cheese tough enemies with hundeds of arrows from the place they can't reach, or cut through the enemies like a knife through the butter. Still, AI, balance issues and similar nuances can be fixed with mods.
In my opinion Skyrim has superior combat system because:
    1) You can equip 2 spells\1 spell 1 weapon\2 weapons e.t.c. however you like.
    2) Star constellation skill system that gives you different perks and influences your combat. (Default one isn't bad but mods can make it very awesome)
    3) Dragon shout also adds to the combat.

    1) I do admit, carrying 2 spells is much more convenient, but as a whole, magic was dumbed down to the point that its boring. 1-2 spells per rank (apprentice, master, etc) with some spells being outright useless at a certain level. In oblivion, you had much more utility and could be much more creative with it. You could make a frost spell with paralysis and call it "Ice block". Or create a spell that gave you 90% damage immunity, and regenerate health, and call it something edgy like "Immortality". There was so much more build potential with magic. Now its just "Firebolt, firebolt, firebolt, Ice spike, Firebolt." Its boring and lacks the charm it did in the past.(edit: and restoration is also lame AF. "Hold heal while I swipe my sword")

    2) The skill system IS nice, but it means that you're locked into what you want to do. Without DLC, you cant get those skill points back until leveling the skill up to 100. So if you play one-handed for ~15 levels and decide you want to be a mage, CONGRATS your stuck with 7-8 skill points into one-handed and at later levels it takes much longer to get those skill-points you need. Nothing like getting 45 in destruction and only having 1-2 skill points into it. It forces you to pick a play style and stick with it, so if you regret your decision, your stuck creating a whole new character.

    3) Honestly, everything dragon shouts do, a spell in oblivion could do much better, more efficiently, and not have that cooldown.

Well then, If I wanted to I could just be a stealth alchemist. Duplicating invisibility potions and one shotting everything. Point is, if your gonna abuse the system, you cant act like its impossible to be done. The AI was amazing for its time. Also, if your cutting enemies like 'a knife through butter' you should probably turn the difficulty up from the bottom level. At maxed out difficulty, every fight is a challenge.
