NU Entry Link: Black Iron's Glory (BIG) Type: Chinese Webnovel Author: Smoke Is A Path (Other works: Tales of the Reincarnated Lord) Update Schedule: Daily (7 a week) Description:
raw: https://book.qidian.com/info/1012855141#Catalog 63 chapters thus far (+1 prologue) the prologue provides the backstory for the isekai mc. the 1st chapter is a boring history lesson. the 2nd-4th delved deeper into mc's grandparents and father's story. still too early to say, but this might be a decent read. at least the thrift is real.
Tales of the Reincarnated Lord, the author's other work, was a tough read for me. He has a really good worldbuilding, but everything else fell kind of flat to me. Pages after pages of exposition, and the plot was so slow and boring, and there never seemed to be any pressing reason why anything was happening. That might have worked in a book, but in a daily series, it got boring quickly. I am willing to give this a chance, but so far it looks more of the same.
Ryogawa you know how TotRL basically starts the real story 30-50 chapters in, when Lorist returns home? Does this novel take a long time to start just like TotRL?
The author directly addressed this in a chapter. It's going to be slower paced than what many are used to from fast food style novels, so expect lots of world and character building before the poor starts to move.
I see, well I enjoyed reading TotRL so I guess I'll wait before picking this up. Probably have to wait for around 30 chapters. So early to make a LCD.
trusting a new author...but I guess someone gotta do it for the new good authors to grow and prosper Ain't gonna be me tho...will check back in a few years
I have no problem with the author taking his time and being slower paced. However, the author is a bit heavy-handed with his world-building and lore. A lot of his exposition it seems out of place, especially at the start when I really don't care about the world and haven't been introduced to the main character very well. When the author does this I always think "that's cool, but what's the relevance to the story?".
No worries. I made the LCD cause I thought it'd be convenient to change some details in the first post for some data just like a changelog or something. There's been many questions about TRL's author, so I thought it'd be a good place to address them as well.
Hey ryo been a while. Also it seems pretty similar to torl as far as narration and dialogues go how soon till major conflict arises?
The world is more complex than TRL's, since there are various aspects of it other than the politics. We have conflicts between nations, Claude's group of friends, tech behind firearms, his path of learning magic, the secret conspiracy that caused most magi to be exiled from the continent of Freia to another island, and so on. It unfolds piece by piece like an onion, and there's no definitive point where the story magically gets interesting. The journey itself is worth the ride.
I don't think it was. Can you elaborate? It will be weekly for the moment. When we finish the translation of TRL, we'll work on this one at full steam.
