I'm curious how the demographics of NUF compare to the detailed list of the most common ethnicities in the world.

The poll is listed by rank according to the contemporary ethnic groups in the world with most population (Wikipedia).

    What is an ethnic group?
If you identify with multiple ethnic groups, please pick one that you feel like is the closest descriptor.

If none of these options fit you, please choose None of the Above and take a look at the Extended Poll.

    No Malay? RIP.

Also, a poll is always useless if you can't see who voted for it.

Han is the most common ethnicity in China.

There are a lot of minority ethnicities in China (still considered "chinese") that doesn't get counted under "Han".

And yes, it doesn't concern the place of birth.

Yeah, on second thought maybe I should have cherry picked the ethnicities, but I also had no idea what ethnicities I might have randomly missed because we have a lot of people from SEA here.

but there's a max of 30 options on the polls here... I guess that's a downfall of systematic design. :blobpensive:

Then there are some of us who belong to at least four groups based on grandparents and such, and can't give a full answer. Not me obviously, because I'm a cat, but, you know.

I think @Seraphic did a demographic survey before. But I think it was more on geographical location than ethnicity.

It's hard when even countries have multiple ethnicities. Either way, good luck :blobsalute:

Largely of Celtic stock, on both sides of the family. Briton and Cornish on father's side and Scot, with a hint of Irish if looking about 1500 years ago, on mother's side.

Mm, indeed, my survey never asked for ethnicity directly, though for most users it usually ended up being fairly easily to extrapolate based on their geographic location and their primary language. Of course, it's impossible to separate, say, African Americans and white Americans, but that wasn't something I had particularly thought to look into at the time.
