Jin Yong's book are educational even though its Chinese. He usually set his books in actual historical settings. So the King was an actual historical figure even though maybe of the court was fictional in Royal Tramp/Duke of Mount Deer. I learnt about Kangxi and Qianlong from his books

I really hate how authors do not get respect. Authors should be amongst the richest professions on earth but sadly most just die poor

Anyone know any tips for me to finish educational or motivational books? I can only read a little bit before getting annoyed or falling asleep. I really hate their writing style. Don't know why. Seems so fake and holier than thou.

It took a lot of your brain power and mental focus than your average fictional stories. Try doing it one section a time then stopped reading and comprehend the knowledge you just learnt. At first, it is going to be extremely tiring and dishearting, but after a while, you will get the satisfaction from being able to learn by reading. Big plus if you are interested in the subject.

Well, I grew up dirt poor, books like Rich Dad, Poor Dad , Richest Man In Babylon and others were
a necessity for me. Poverty was a good motivator. I replaced reading Harlequin and Silhouette romances with those.
Most are crap, of course, like Rich Dad, Poor Dad but you can learn at least to do the opposite of what they say haha

Kingdom's Bloodline takes the cake with roundabout conversations
and answering questions not just with questions but repeating the question asked

person A: what is your name?
person B: mmm what is my name, you say. Do you want to know my name? Are you sure?

:blobowoevil: CN's author only good at descripting the background scene like " Waterfall that piercing the sky with water as clear as world most beautiful crystal" and some unnecessary sh*t

Reading is important lest you learn about it from secondary sources.
IE. Kangxi is a sexy king from Moe King Ex who dances a lot in MMD and strips a lot on a certain i.tv site. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

What GDlizy say is important. My brother in law had the traditional study until tired method until he talked to his professor about it who changed it to something similar to GDlizy. Study ten minutes then take a three to five minute break, watch a YouTube video or sitcom, then go back and read the same passages. Then onto the next section and repeat, then go back to previous passage to see/test how much your remember. It sounds tedious but remembering and understanding takes repetition.

    Many confuse reading with studying.
    It's very different
