Let me put it this way. The reason some men enjoy lesbian porn is because it removes the man from the sex, and they won't have to look at a man's genitals, etc. Similarly for some women, yaoi is just female-friendly porn for several reasons: the guys are usually attractive, you get double the guys, you remove the woman from the scene. Removing the woman from the sex scenes is a relief to me personally, because it removes the party I empathize closely with. Like if I see a straight porn where the woman is raped, I feel bad for her and can't enjoy the porn. Lots of straight porn is kinda degrading to women. I'm more for vanilla stuff. But if you remove the woman, I can watch a lot more stuff, cause I simply don't associate myself with any of the characters. Don't know if you get me.

And shonen ai is just a romance where you remove the female factor. I started reading that cause I got bored with the tropes in shoujo manga...

Anyway, I'm actually asexual. Sex to me is more about aesthetics than something I'd like to participate in. So yaoi is much more comfortable to me. Curious to see other people's reasons

 

No, it makes sense, but just doesn't feel right. I don't think that's the cause. We genuinely enjoy chicks making out without all that deep stuff involved. It's just so friking sexy.

 

Well same for me tho. Lots of fujoshis will say the same thing. Seeing attractive guys kiss is hot. Basically because they like attractive guys and seeing them together is exhilarating. While I don't care for two girls kissing and find it boring, I wouldn't go saying it's weird or disgusting. That would be hypocritical, seeing that I like two guys kissing; and narrow-minded, since it doesn't personally concern or involve me.

That deep stuff is my personal motivation for getting so deep into yaoi, that I've figured out over the years.

I don't know if you've seen it, but I mentioned a couple times here that I'm really into gender bender. Ones with male to female transformations and straight romance. (I love yuri, but I like my gb to be straight)
All, this time I've been saying that I just like the drama of it, their inner conflict and figuring out their new bodies, being embarrassed and stuff. And I like it when they fall for a man even though they've never been into men, I say that I prefer that type of romance cause that's when we get to see them being conflicted by it and start to accept being girl so that they can be with the other person. But I have always known deep down, I just fucking love gender bender. Even though all that I've said IS true, I still know that that isn't the sole reason. I, plain and simply, just love gender bender, no other deep reasons involved. But I still say that same as you as a motivation to read it. (I should've figured that out when I watched my first yaoi anime...don't ask, it was a trap...it had all the same emotional conflict in its romance cause the MC was straight, and I did enjoy watching it, the plot was good so I couldn't drop it even when I found out it was a trap, but I didn't go looking for more after that just because I'm not into yaoi, so I guess that should've given me a hint when I got obsessed with gender bender after my first.)
