No never done such thing, hell i never gone to the school dance too. Edit: Also i think i didn't miss much from what i heard, it's just a bunch of people who likely never dance, then practice it with one week before the event at best to do it
Well, you're not really missing out on anything by that. It's more or less really boring if you've got nothing specifically to do there other than watch.
Yea, the Tango is my favorite too. It's such a highly skilled dance. And I believe we did the standard stuff? We just held each other and danced three steps at a time, slowly. That's about it. Not that hard, but still requires a decent amount of your focus.
Yea, those classy places and formal events are usually really super boring if you've got nothing to do...and you usually don't have anything to do cause its more or less for socializing and being fancy and such. So I usually have nothing to do there other than sit back and look presentable.
I just watch people while sitting on my table, unless someone particularly come close on their accord or my parents drag me to socialize with people. At least the ambiance is nice haha.
Yea, that's like the only good thing about it. But only if you're the quiet kid. If not, it becomes too suffocating. Well, I actually enjoy those parties very much if they are more or less focused around me. Like when I'm the soloist of the evening or such. I'm basically at the centre of it, so even if I wear jeans and a t-shirt with a blazer on top of it nobody judges me cause they are mostly here for me. So the party basically revolves around me...actually, my playing. So the rest doesn't matter if I've got that right, so I can be a bit unorthodox at those times. (I actually don't do this very much...I just let my hair be a bit ruffled and my shirt untucked, but still follow the proper dress code. I was thinking about David Garrett when I wrote this. He always looks so out of place with his jeans and such, but he's freaking famous and the whole orchestra is playing to his tune, the audience is here for him, he can do whatever the fuck he wants and he's still the person who most belongs there at that moment cause the whole show is revolving around him.) But other than those times, I feel like I must follow all the rules and etiquette to a tee, and it's such a pain to be so mindful all the time.
I took dancesport for 1 semester, didn't know that it was walt, cha cha and tango. thought it was a kind of something like synchro dance. should have did my research... worst thing is, there were more guys than girls...
Lol, well that's not too bad. It's more unhealthy for a young boy to be dancing with a girl his age while linking bodies. But at least it taught me where I could touch a woman's body without making her feel uncomfortable. I enjoyed dancing with my instructors more anyway. They really know how to lead.
Lol, David Garrett. That description fits him well, but he plays good imo and there are times when skills triumph over formality. Of course, only upto a certain point. I'm definitely a quiet kid. I'd rather stay home to read or game, but I cannot help it, some occasions need my presence.
I went to a camp that had a dance part and everyone else new how to waltz but I didn't and the stage was out side with a ton of mosquitos and bug spray didn't help...
Wow, that sounds fun to me though. I have always been a fan of outdoor events. (Mostly cause I've never experienced such. lol)
My school had a dance class (not dancesport so probably more casual) that I took for a semester too. Worst thing is, there were alot more girls than guys, so I was almost always paired with another girl, so I ended up learning the guy's part of the dances. Later on in the class, I danced with a guy, got in the starting position, when he started making a weird face. I couldn't figure out why until someone nearby asked: "wait, why are you putting your hand on his hip?" I thought 'oops' and corrected it. That class went too quickly though, so I think I've forgotten everything, we didn't practice any one dance long enough for it to stick in my memory. I'm pretty sure we did waltz, but I don't remember how.
Lol, that's hilarious. Reminds me of that manhwa 'This Girl is a Little Wild'. Maybe you should dress up in a suit and go to a ball. All the girls could start gunning for you.
Ahaha, no, no way. Now you've got me to read that manhwa, I'm curious about the situation that would lead to that.
