It depends it the manga was interesting. If it was, I would recommend it to them and if it wasn't I would not and would tell them to stay away from it and not waste time.

Nope. I'm not really, either, but I've read a shounen ai one without knowing it was and it was a pretty good story. I don't really read romance in general and prefer action and thrillers.
