Lots of new info in the latest chapters, so I decided to update the map. Also, fonts/colours were changed to make it easier to look at. Freia: Freia and Nubissa: Lots of stuff got shifted around. Unfortunately we've never really gotten a top-down view of a map,so it's mostly guessing where everything is by their description in relation to another point. e: links were messed up, fixed now.
Wow. This is amazing. When we get to around the 500-chapter mark, I might start another map-making competition like we did with TRL.
even though Shiks uses another port in a friendly nations' colony, you'd think they'd expand down south to get their own. Thanks for the map, it makes the visualising the world a whole lot easier.
Keep in mind that I have no idea what Nubissa looks like and have the barest of description to go on. Plus it could be the terrain is inhospitable or impassable (desert, mountains, no water, dangerous beasts), or that the water is too shallow for a proper port, or there's cliffs, or they can't afford to colonize any more land because the entire colony is unprofitable. The idea that "they were colonizing so hard that they forgot to found a port" is pretty weird, but maybe there's a reason that they can't expand their colony.
Here's my theory. There's no way you can start a colony without a port or any coastline. What happened? Their currently ally conquered their original port, trapping their colony further inland. Over time the 2 nations allied due to the Aurean threat. Another theory is native tribes simply siezed their port cities, cutting them off. However, they managed to maintain their colony by using an ally's port.
I went back to check what the story said the reason for Shiks' colony being landlocked was, and this was what it said (chapter 193): So maybe while they made a bunch of smaller ports which suited them at the time, but when the time came for them to upgrade to a larger deep-water port they found there was no place left to pick from.
Good point. It slipped my mind completely. Thank you for reading! Spread the gospel! Write us a raving review XD!
If there isn't some sort of purge of the nobility/Frontline Command and the military in general after all this I'll be very disappointed. (Not a Soviet/Chinese-style one, but forced retirement or demotions would work pretty good.)
That was a pretty good way to end this arc. Given all the trouble the aristocracy has caused with their incompetency, it turns out they were their own worst enemy. I don't think we've heard from Claude's family back home in awhile. It'd be interesting to see what they're up to. His sister should be a pretty decent mage by now.
There's a surprising amount of sex given what got TRL censored. The Chinese government has gotten...stricter... since then too. Hopefully the author doesn't find himself in some over-enthusiastic bureaucrat's crosshairs.
The protagonist is the same as in the Tales, frustratingly easy going with non auhtoritative people using or disrespecting him. He is also throwing money at people and sharing his modern ideas for businesses for free to any polite aquaintance. The author has botched the imaginary culture names, they aren't consistent or acoustic at all, I think sometimes he is just merging random words from European languages to create an awful monstrosity. Also wtf is with scenes like "he tongue kissed her deeper than ever before!" is he describing penetration lol. That said, it's still a good kingdom building novel, despite the mide chapters 120-180 being somehow the most boring.
I think it's not wrong to say that the theme of growing up and taking things into your own hands are present in both novels. And yeah, the names can be rather hard to transliterate. Then again, it isn't a story set in a European setting, isn't it? It's fantasy, so I don't see why names couldn't be more unique. I agree that the racier scenes are rather cheesy, though.
Updated maps Freia: Freia/Nubissia: I had to make some major changes to Nubissia given the new information. Freia was still largely the same, thankfully.
Since little sister will likely not be married considering she idolize Claude as the perfect man, hoping she takes mcs seed since she can't be bothered to wed.
