Nastriumden and NovelBear should be banned from NU. They ruined so many good novels. Their translation is a copy&paste from google translation. If I want to read google translation, I can do it by myself. There are many MTL sites (babelnovel, LNMTL, mtlnovel, etc.) that got popular by relying on their own weight and don't ruin the translation scene by shamelessly dressing up their MTL/google-copy as translation.

If the NUF staff or owner agrees with you that the chapters are MTL, there will be removed but I doubt it
Edited MTL is allowed even if it is horrible to read

There's picking up novels that haven't been updated for a while/abandoned and actually putting some work into it and there's noveltom.
Sure, it's great that the novels are being updated but is it really great when it's barely understandable MTL and you might as well wait or just MTL it yourself??? I get it there aren't a lot of translators out there or ppl who would want to pick up novels to translate but not only is this a waste of time for the readers, it stops/discourages others who would actually put some effort into it from picking up the novel or continuing on translating the novel that they never dropped in the first place.




MTL based TL group, yea, ok fine, but adjusting translation quality depending on its popularity???? Not only is that making it clearly obvious that noveltom is just doing it for the views and money, it's just a bad idea overall when your quality is garbage in the first place





??? Wrong translation and they straight up didn't answer until someone called them out.

 

Is anyone reported them in the end?

 

I commented on this to Tony just recently. He said, "If you or anyone can prove that it's automated MTL then I'll remove those translations but edited MTL is allowed even if it's bad. Asking NU to judge by translation quality will just bring us unwanted drama."

 

I don’t even think they read it over, in “Superstar Aspirations,” the scene was with only guys and yet they still had “she” pronouns
I did comment on it on that chapter though so they might’ve fixed it

 

So in the end nothing will be done.
I understand not wanting drama, but this isn't very good for anyone.
If I may suggest, if nothing can be done at least it would be nice to warn people in some way which groups are "bad" mtls, with a tag or something into the group name? it would be a compromise if they can't be removed from NU.

I got 96% of similarity - this mean word to word similarity.
the 4% is mostly bad grammar (GoogleT translation is batter), so I think they use some translator powered by google.

I just wish there was a possibility that updates by groups you blocked also wouldn't show up on your reading lists instead of just in the filtering/on the front page. I think that would solve a lot of peoples' problems with this. But I'm assuming it's too technically difficult to implement.

 

I checked Superstar Aspirations - I have it on my reading list.
It was a recent chapter so 55 or 54? I used part of a chapter because I checked other translation apps first that have a limit for Chinese characters.
I used a simplified Chinese character, for tradition it was about 80% + similarity

 

Could you please give us a snapshot of the comparison given the copyleaks website that you are using? Maybe it could be used as proof/evidence for the translation site to eventually be reported.

This was posted a while ago but I'm glad to know there are other people like me. I tend to not read a novel picked up by a new translator unless it was officially dropped or almost a year has gone by.

 

Aaahhhh I'm so grateful~ I got a novel poached each by NastriumDen and Novelbear ;-;;;;;;

 

Tbh, I prefer edited MTL than no release at all.
I know people have their own life, work, and this is just something they do for free.
As reader, I cannot (and never) message/ask any translator to hurry up, but as reader I just want to be able to read a new translated chapter at least once a month.
If the translator stop translating coz site like novelbear......nothing can we do, and imo no one to blame.
But I will do waht I can with good translation done (with the novel I like). So, the only thing to do is read the chapters releases, just like Stop btohering me Emperor, I read the 3 different translation already (there's new one), coz the 1st one was ...... yeah that.

That was NOT edited mtl. It was just copypasted from google translator. If I may say, you can do that by yourself, I don’t see the need to have a group that just copypastes mtls without editing it at all.
If it was edited readable mtl, it would still be on NU cause the rules states that edited mtl is fine, while not edited mtl is not.

 

Er....yes, I know that was UNedited MTL.
At that time, I didnt know anything. Still newbie. All I know, the previous translator stopped (or hiatus/something) translating and the only translation available was the one after that, the unedited mtl.
But for me, that wanted to know what happened next in the novel, edited or not didnt matter. Yes, I felt confused in almost all chapters, but after marching all the way, I could understand the point. And that was enough.
Now, of course I will choose the edited MTL if there's a choice between MTL that is edited or not.
But if there's a choice between 'real' translation and MTL (edited or not), while the 'real' translation has stopped for 3months without news, I'd choose the later.
