Now, Ai-chan doesn't want to generalize everyone in America as collectively stupid. But looking at the media reports since the start of the pandemic, Ai-chan is starting to believe that a lot of Americans are indeed stupid.

Ai-chan has watched news reports of how Americans did rallies to stop the lockdown not because of the economy, but because they believed that the virus is a lie and that it's the authorities trying to take away their rights. Take away what rights? The right to die and infect others not involved in your stupidity? You're not advocating your rights, you're denying others of their right of self-preservation and if you're infected, you're actually doing murder.

This morning, Ai-chan watched news that American nurses and healthcare workers were being harassed and beaten by protesters because the protesters didn't believe that the virus is real. Why? Why are you all so stupid?

And just now, Ai-chan read a news report that a mall security guard got shot dead because he told the customer that they have to wear a mask. Shot because he was doing his job, making sure that idiots do not infect others. What is this bullshit?

    https://edition.cnn.com/2020/05/04/us/michigan-security-guard-mask-killing-trnd/index.html

Now, some of you may say that you agree that they're stupid and you're not one of them. But what are you doing about it? Why are you just letting this happen? Don't blame trump. He's just one man with his own opinion. If one million people do this for trump, is it because only trump has sentience? Can't 1 million people tell right from wrong?

Can't you, Americans who know better, tell them that they're wrong?

Nearly half of them voted for Trump so this isn´t exactly surprising after that.

I can tell you're quite upset. Seeing from how the title is very loaded, but you yourself understand it's a sweeping statement. Not an American myself, so difficult to really comment on behaviours and viewpoints there.

But overall it seems there is a lot of fear and uncertainty. Two things which can make people behaviour especially cautiously or rashly. Those you lament about, are likely the rash acting because they feel powerless if they do not.

If you feel you've sudden lost control of your own destiny, one choice is to grab hold of control no matter what. Again, not condoning, just trying to give a plausible explanation.

Not all. Only those who see Trump as their god. They voted him in despite there being so many red flags. They believe his truly idiotic words. And they still keep him in power even though there are so many reasons and opportunities to remove him from power. It's a shame these people were the majority who voted for him.

we got it hard here in brazil as well. :sweating_profusely:
our president is effectively trying to get as many people as possible infected, and then put the blame in the media.

Its hard to watch news becuase the stories they tell are so out of my world. Literally every bad coronavirus story doesn't or isn't happening around me (thank god by the way). I get angry reading at the news but there isn't much i can do. All the people I know are doing what they are supposed to, my brother in law working at the hospital says its not bad at all where we are at. Its actually kinda slow. My mom is still working in her Factory. My niece doesn't have school though.

Well, quite frankly (and this is just my humble opinion), i think it's not so much the fact that americans are stupid, but more the fact that they have a strong "sheep" mentality. It almost feels as they cannot think for themselves.
