For the past two months, Ai-chan kept getting ads about tourism Korea. Ai-chan get really annoyed by the song that was probably traditional Korean tune, but seriously turned Ai-chan off. It's like Akiko Shikata's tunes, but more exaggerated and actually annoying. For the record, Ai-chan loves Akiko Shikata, but Ai-chan understands how some people won't be into her. But this, is there anyone who would find this tune appealing? You're probably thinking, "How rude!" but seriously, that tune is incredibly annoying. Maybe some people find it nice, but it seriously doesn't appeal to Ai-chan and Ai-chan keep getting these kinds of ads. This are some of the songs. There are many others. This one is acceptable to Ai-chan, not as annoying as the first one, but what's with the dorky dancing? Still, the thing that is puzzling to Ai-chan is that there so many tourism Korea ads these days. Is Korea's dearth of tourists so horrible these days that they have to advertise it so aggressively? A few months ago it was BTS or some Korean boy band. Nowadays everything is either similar to the song above or so cringy like the one about doing business in Korea. It's like the people at tourism ministry is doing their best to make Korea feel so cringy. Do you guys got these ads too? Or is it just Ai-chan. FYI, apart from just now to find the ads, Ai-chan has not searched for Korea, travel or any related keywords for the past year. In the first place, Ai-chan no longer find Korea interesting and that has been the case since at least 3 years ago.
Y'know, this is kinda how I'd expect peeps to behave after extended lockdown... except, Korea was never under lockdown!
Annoying to you as a westerner, because you don't have this culture. Where Ai-chan is, this is how we speak. We refer to ourselves using our names. This has nothing to do about being cute or whatever. Even guys do this.
check your (google) account's ad settings https://www.google.com/settings/ads/anonymous if its off, try turn it on just to see if it makes a difference (in what you see). the opposite is also true. some additional info on what the ad setting does https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/2662856 https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/2662922
Any country that relies on tourism is gonna start aggressive advertising. especially with vaccine available
well for your point im not a westerner, im prolly farthest from west, and thirdly you are speaking/writing in english where referring yourself with your name is already annoying, but you include chan which is a japanese way to refer someone, doubling the cringe. also you already know the connotation of referring yourself with your name, from your own words 'being cute', aka acting cute. just because you got used to it doesn't make it any less cringe.
Uhhh, Ai-chan is Japanese. So what's the big deal? Where we are, we mix English and local languages. Why? Because we are a multiracial country, we mix things up.
Well if you are japanese, dont make up stuff like its common to refer yourself with your name, cause i know full well even in japan, only 'ぶりっこ' will ever use his/her own name.
If you're getting cringe in this kind of things then this forum isn't the one for you, go back to your normie place where you won't encounter the likes of us here.
I can also point out that you're so cringe that you're so lazy to write properly. So yeah, you do you too. Can't believe a question so simple can draw in people like you.
I can think of five possibilities: 1. Maybe, as you say, Korean Tourism is down 2. Korea suddenly had a windfall in tax dollars and so they're investing in Tourism 3. Something bad happened under Korea's name so visitors are scared. They're trying to aggressively invest to show that it's still good to visit. 4. The other companies reduced their purchase of advertisements, so Korea suddenly shot to the forefront 5. Targeted advertisement. You may have been doing a bunch of searches for Korea and the algorithm has deduced that you want to make a visit
I'm not what you'd call otaku, or for lack of a better more sanitized term (I don't know if this is an insulting term so peace), 'weeabo', but you need to practice basic courtesy if you're visiting a forum that you're totally new to. You're the one adapting and trying to socialize to these people here and not the other way around. And I don't mean this to insult you or in a demeaning or self-righteous way, it's just how it goes and my views. I can say this because I only really consume novels the most, and only am familiar with that kind of culture - I'm not just that into it aside from discussing and having fun by myself or other people about light novels, anime (well in the past as I haven't really touched one in months), manhua, manhwa etc. I did what I said to you here and the people here are really cool and wholesome if you are nice to them and acknowledge your differences even if you don't necessarily agree with what they are doing. Decency and being open to other's differences are the keys here.
What a lame ass ads with lame ass cringy actors. Wtf... is that supposed to be funny ? There's a serious degradation of aesthetics in South Korea. I know fashion can make boys dressed in their grandmother dress but these shouldn't be common.
