    Summary :
I reincarnated into the world of an otome game as the villainess “Ophelia”.

I thought I'd be able to enjoy a peaceful school life, but to my dismay, I found myself subjected to constant harassment at the hands of the wicked, vindictive heroine; and to top it all off, I’m plunging headlong into the dreaded Bad Ending — hold up, as if I’d meekly submit to such a fate!

If that’s how it’s going to be, I’ll tap into the top secret【cheats】known only to those who've played the game and carve out the 「Villainess Route」of my fantasies!!

But for some unfathomable reason, the capture targets seem to be doting on me far more aggressively than in the original story…?

Note: The author has stated that the LN is different from the WN
Ophelia looks at herself in the mirror, aware that the school entrance ceremony marks the beginning of the otome game she played in her last life. As the villainess she faces two endings depending on whether the heroine manages to seduce the prince. Bad end has her being deported, while the good end has her spending the rest of her life in a monastery under house arrest. Ophelia decides to try to befriend the heroine Alicia, especially as she is in love with the prince, Felix. soon after they come into the class, Alicia sits by Ophelia and drops her pen. She then says that the pen is broken after Ophelia hands it to her.

Ophelia says that the pen likely broke when it fell. Felix hands Alicia his pen to borrow, but Alicia acts like it's a gift he gave her. The chapter then discusses the types of classes, which rank from E (lowest class, worst and poorest students) to A rank (highest class, filled with the otome characters, royalty, and best students). Ophelia is fangirling over the classroom she'd only previously seen in a game and both she and Felix choose to sit next to one another. Alicia chooses to sit next to Felix, much to Ophelia's consternation. After homeroom Ophelia walks off with Felix, noticing Alicia's open jealousy. She and Felix go to the courtyard, which Ophelia notes is the scene of the first act of the villainess bullying the heroine. The scene required a lunch box, which she doesn't have, so Ophelia thinks that perhaps she'll be spared this. Only... Felix pulls out a lunchbox, only it's not very well made. Alicia then shows up and smirks at Ophelia, asking if she was bad at cooking, making a comment about how girls are supposed to be good at that, assuming that it was Ophelia's cooking. She sits.

Ophelia chooses not to make a comment about it being Felix's work, as she doesn't want to hurt his feelings. Seeing that Alicia clearly intends to feed him her lunch, Ophelia asks if it's wise for a crown prince to take food from someone you don't know, as it could be poisoned. Felix is looking a bit down that his meal was insulted and Ophelia sticks up for his lunchbox. She then eats the egg, complimenting how it was made. Alicia apologizes. Ophelia notes that this is somewhat following the game scenario and that Felix says a line from the game, even though it makes no sense, as if he was being controlled. She then sees that Alicia made what appears to be Felix's favorite dessert and thinks that it'll continue as it does in the game, however Felix says that he wants to eat with Ophelia, which isn't in the game scenario.

Ophelia and Felix walk together after school and are sharing a nice moment. Afterwards she goes to the secluded flowerbed in the back of the school. In the game there were freesia flowers in various colors, signifying the progress with each given character. The colors are as follows:
    Felix: Red, easiest route
Liam: White, priest of the Son of God temple, most popular game character
Aaron: Yellow, playboy son of an aristocrat
Klaus: Purple, the intelligent glasses character
Ophelia is dismayed to see that the red freesia is blooming. She encounters Liam, who is surprised to see her there. He goes to sit under a tree and Ophelia recognizes it as the event where the heroine meets Liam. Sure enough, here comes Alicia so Ophelia hides.

Alicia comes, spouting lines from the game and watering the flowerbed. When asked, Alicia lies and says that she grew the flowers. Despite him being a little standoffish, Liam's flower blooms. Liam leaves, Alicia promptly leaves. Liam apparently returns and makes a joke? about Ophelia being a peeping tom. He expresses surprise that the flowers would bloom despite it not being in season, Liam doesn't really seem to care. Ophelia returns to her dorm.

As the days pass Alicia spends more time with the capture targets, worrying about the game and losing Felix. She manages to spend some time with Felix and while they are walking, she sees Alicia and Liam together in the courtyard. Ophelia hopes that Alicia picks the Liam route (or any other than Felix, actually). Liam is indifferent. Felix is curious about whether Alicia and Liam know each other and decides to call out so that they're not all late to class. Alicia is happy, Ophelia is anxious, Liam is just indifferent. They go to music class, where the next event is to take place. Ophelia isn't good at singing, but Felix is. Alicia sucks up to him. There's supposed to be a class representative at the NYE party, which in the game was Alicia. However it's mentioned that Ophelia could sing at the event, Alicia seems to do her black lotus thing and says that as a Duke's daughter Ophelia should have a good voice. Felix says that he likes her voice, breaking the tension. Alicia doesn't look happy.

Ophelia notices that Alicia seems to be approaching all the targets, apparently ending with the harem route. She thinks that this is stupid, as there's no system that allows a person to marry multiple partners. However in the game it's allowed because Alicia is the "Goddess of Freesia". Also, in the reverse harem ending Ophelia was put to death, making Ophelia super nervous. She also wonders if the kingdom would really be OK, as a commoner wouldn't be familiar with the heavy requirements of being a noble - especially royalty. It's not just loving your partner, but also doing what's best for the country and loving its people.
Ophelia tries to spend time with Felix, but can't because he has other things to do. She does have his lunchbox, which shows an improvement in his cooking skills. She goes inside to try to find Felix, but instead sees him eating with Alicia, who is giving off a "he chose me" smirk. Dejected, Ophelia goes back to the classroom.

Back in the classroom, Ophelia debates her potential endings and also notes that Alicia acts like she was bullied each time she runs into Ophelia, despite her not actually doing anything. Felix arrives and apologizes for not eating lunch with her, saying that he got lunch at the cafeteria. He then says "But for some reason I had lunch with Alicia, despite not being close to her", which Ophelia finds strange, like he was saying he couldn't control his actions. They talk about lunch. Afterwards Ophelia notes that there was a rumor among the game players that you could end up on a villainess route if you had the gardener replant the flowers in the flowerbed with black freesia. She debates about whether or not to try this. Alicia enters and seems to be bragging about eating with Felix. The students around her congratulate her, although with a confused expression. Ophelia gains a new resolve, not wanting Alicia to win.

Realizing that Alicia as queen would be awful, Ophelia goes to the flowerbed to find the gardener. She finds his apprentice, his grandson Io, as the gardener is sick. She starts to befriend him and listens to him, which surprises him since aristocrats never talk to him. She asks him about the freesia colors, to which he gets confused. Ophelia also seems to be fond of him, in a younger brother complex type of way. (It's implied that he's fairly young.)

Io says that the flower colors are a family secret. Ophelia asks about black freesia. He mentions black roses, which isn't what she wants but she goes along with it because she doesn't want to be mean. She compliments the black roses he shows her and Io suggests that she take some with her for her room. She hears Alicia squealing at Aaron, seeing her fawn over him as he's playing a game at the nearby training grounds. Just after Io gives her the black roses, Alicia appears.

Ophelia isn't happy to see Alicia, obviously, particularly as she asks if someone died after seeing the black roses. Ophelia corrects her. Aaron makes a flirty remark, causing Ophelia to think that Felix shouldn't have him as an aide in the future. Girls surround them and squeal at the cheese. Ophelia decides to make a flirty remark back to disarm the situation, which seems to make Alicia mad since Aaron accepted the remark in kind.
Apparently Aaron has a sprained ankle, but no one but Ophelia noticed. She treats his ankle and Aaron reflects well on her. (This is unclear, as it seems to have been partially written from his point of view AFAIK using Google Translate.) He warns her that there's a rumor that she's fishing for men, which makes Ophelia assume that Alicia is spreading said rumor. He makes a remark about not wanting to show pain or discomfort because he's the third son (more to live up to?), causing Ophelia to have a better opinion of him.

Yum, breakfast. Ophelia and her maid Karin talk about how stressed she's been lately, so Karin recommends going to the library. Ophelia goes after school and runs into Felix. He seems happy to see her, as they haven't spent much time together. Enter Alicia, who asks if Ophelia heard the rumors that she (Ophelia) was hooking up with Aaron the other day. She debates telling about the injury Aaron received, but chooses to remain quiet. She instead talks about how he was just complimenting the roses she had. Felix doesn't seem to take the rumors about her very seriously. He then asks Ophelia to take him to see the black roses, much to Alicia's dismay.
The next day she returns to the library to read a book. She then remembers the start of a scene: Alicia is asleep in the library after reading a difficult book and encounters Klaus.

Ophelia is tired of constantly running into Alicia. She greets Klaus, noting that he is studying difficult topics. Ophelia also notes that the queen education doesn't cover politics, since it's apparently a man thing only. She then notices that he has several books that she (Ophelia) would like to read. Klaus notices her gaze and asks what books she wants. She replies and he gives it to her. They talk about whether he likes studying, he says it's just an obligation. Ophelia looks at Alicia, who is asleep on Klaus's shoulder, and wonders how she can manage to actually sleep like that. She also figures that Klaus's freesia is likely blooming. Klaus makes a remark about Alicia being annoying or in the way (unclear, didn't feel like going back to investigate more).
The book Ophelia wants is on flowers and water, specifically that flowers can bloom differently depending on what they're watered/fed. She decides to leave, as she can't relax around Klaus and Alicia like that.

The following day Ophelia and Felix walk through the garden, their first date in a long time. They visit the black roses and Io. Felix thinks it's a waste that people avoid the black flowers and seems to fawn over how nice Ophelia looks. She suggests having tea together. They also plan to go to the garden again in the future. Io suggests that Ophelia help replant a flowerbed with tulips, so she and Felix do so and have a good time together.

It's a holiday, so no classes. Karin comes with an invitation from Felix, surprising Ophelia. She's nervous to open it, as she recognizes it as the invite leading to the condemnation event. Ophelia goes to the flowerbed and sees all of the capture targets' flowers blooming, but no black freesia yet. She pressures Io for black freesia, but he hasn't been able to find any. She apologizes for pressuring him and reassures Io that she won't punish him. (She was really upset.) Ophelia debates trying to escape and become a gardener if the reverse harem occurs.

Today's the day of the condemnation event, a tea party. She decides to wear black, which disappoints Karin since those can only be worn while mourning. She takes her time going to the event, but can't delay any longer. She also can't refuse since it was organized by Felix. Ophelia arrives and is really nervous. Felix says he has a story about his engagement. Ophelia notices that although it's the event in the game, the atmosphere isn't the same.
Klaus says that Alicia is the Goddess of Freesia and that Ophelia should step down as Felix's fiancée so Alicia can marry all of the capture targets, including Felix. They make mention of Ophelia bullying Alicia, who of course pulls a "I'm so bullied" face. Felix starts to cancel their engagement, but looks really upset and unhappy. Just before he can complete his sentence, Io appears with a ton of black freesia. He then uproots all of the capture target flowers and replants the black freesia. Alicia is "What is this... I don't know what this means...".

The entire flowerbed is black, making Ophelia happy. Alicia is throwing a fit. Felix then hugs Ophelia from behind and apologizes to her. He says he doesn't know why he was saying those things, along with that he was scared while he was saying them. (Implication being that he didn't want to say them but couldn't stop himself.) Ophelia accepts his apology. Alicia butts in and says that she's the Goddess of Freesia so Felix should be marrying her instead. She tries showing her mark, but there's no mark there. The capture targets, who now appear to be free of the game influence, start to turn on Alicia.
Alicia is put on house arrest. The capture targets all apologize to Ophelia.

The next day the capture targets are all chasing after Ophelia, which makes her uncomfortable. Alicia is given a fairly light sentence of only a month's suspension, however Ophelia notes that she's effectively unable to marry into nobility or the royal family now that she's not the Goddess, so there's a bit of an unsaid punishment.
She and Felix talk, during which he mentions how confused he was about the whole event the prior day. Even if the claims were all true, he wanted to marry Ophelia rather than Alicia. He acts sweet towards her and she gets nervous about the idea of marrying him.

Ophelia returns to her room, where Karin calms her down. Apparently Ophelia had never admitted she was in love with Felix, to which Karin said that it was always obvious. Also, since the event Felix calls her by a nickname, which she likes. The month that Alicia has been grounded/suspended passes by quickly, during which time Ophelia and Felix grow close together.

The news that Alicia was pretending to be the Goddess has gotten around school quickly. So when Alicia tries to make a bright and sunny entrance, she's solidly ignored. The whole thing is watched by Ophelia, Felix, and Klaus. They're surprised that she didn't just drop out, which is what they would've done if they were here, and wonder if Alicia will try anything. Apparently everyone is starting to become aware of Alicia's true personality as well.
Ophelia tries to meet up with Felix for lunch, but is interrupted like he was in the beginning. This causes her to think of Alicia. However the other capture targets seem to try to take the opportunity to claim lunch with Ophelia instead, to Felix's consternation. Lunchtime comes... and sure enough, Felix is with Alicia eating lunch. She returns to the classroom with Klaus.

During PE, Alicia is paired with Felix while Ophelia is paired with Klaus. After school/class Alicia goes to the garden and tries to get the gardener to replant the flowerbed with colored freesia. The gardener (the grandfather, not Io) is reluctant, but agrees.
A few days later, Ophelia notices that things have become different. The capture targets have started to avoid her. She gets a bad feeling and checks the flowerbed. Sure enough, she sees the gardener replanting. Ophelia mentions Io, the gardener says that the flowers were returned to Io. Ophelia correctly assumes that it's Alicia's doing. She asks for Io's location.

Io is next to the black roses. She mentions the black freesia. Io is disappointed over this and apologizes, but Ophelia says that it's not his fault. She asks if he can replant it, he says that he'll try. (Why don't you just destroy the damn flowerbed?) Meanwhile, Felix has noticed that he hasn't had many chances to see Ophelia while he sees Alicia everywhere, making him anxious. However he finally gets a chance to go to lunch with her, so he's happy. Alicia is monitoring Ophelia and Felix going to lunch, wondering why he didn't ask her. She tries asking the other capture targets, but is unsuccessful.
After school Ophelia decides to start helping with the flowerbed. They go to replant the flowerbed. Alicia sees them and starts screaming that they were doing a terrible thing. She seems to be clearly aware of the flowerbed's significance, per Ophelia's observation.

Alicia is horrified that they changed the flower colors after she asked for it to be changed back. She runs off to get the grandfather's help. He returns with her, holding red freesia (Felix's color). They start to battle for dominance, apparently. Felix arrives and asks if the black freesia was better than the red. Felix is given (or picks, not sure) red freesia. He then gives it back to Ophelia, asking if she loves him, effectively a proposal of marriage. She responses in the affirmative. She then remembers that the confession event in the game has the chosen target(s) giving the heroine the flower of their color. Now that Ophelia has taken the flower, it's her win.
Felix asks if he can kiss Ophelia, however she says that they can't since they aren't alone. He asks what if they weren't. She said it'd be fine, but it's embarrassing to be asked directly.

Ophelia returns to her room, she's on cloud nine. She thinks that if Alicia weren't there, they likely would have kissed. Ophelia then realizes that she's truly happy in the game world and that although this was initially a game, her feelings for him are genuine. The following day Ophelia is asked to perform the NYE song. When she says that her singing stinks, he says that they'll practice together so she gets better. Also, Alicia can't sing because she is known as the person who lied about being the Goddess of Freesia. At the day of the event she is nervous, but sings well alongside Felix and their performance is seen as a symbol of happiness.

Note: despite the author saying the LN would be different, it's not. Per reviews it appears to be almost 100% the same, just with some more minor differences. The manga also has some minor differences from both, but appears to have the same basic story and the same issues. Below is the super condensed version of the basic storyline.
FL is a Duke's daughter engaged to the Crown Prince. She regains memories of her life in Japan, namely that she's in an otome game and the villainess. The game's protagonist was a commoner type girl who is revealed to be the Goddess of Freesia. Love interest favorability is indicated by different color freesia in a somewhat hidden away flowerbed. FL and CP are in love, but neither are very open to the other about it.

Heroine shows up. She has also reincarnated and as per common tropes, is an awful person who is aiming for the harem ending. She is particularly enamored with the CP. FL quickly realizes that the game mechanics are forcing things to progress as they would in the game. She also finds that she can counteract the effects by planting black freesia, so she enlists a gardener's apprentice to find and plant them. This takes a while, during which the love interests unwillingly become enamored with the heroine. Success happens at the last moment, just as the condemnation scene begins to take place. CP and the others come to their senses. Heroine tries to claim she's the Goddess of Freesia, but can show no proof so she's mocked and shunned by the general public.

The story's second half begins. FL and CP start deepening their relationship but are stalled when he and the others come back under the game mechanics. FL realizes the heroine discovered the flowerbed and is planting "her" colors to achieve her desired ends. FL tries to replant hers, launching a battle of wills as each try to rip out and replant their desired color. Realizing she only has time for one color, heroine chooses the CP's red freesia. CP comes across the two and gives FL one of "his" red freesias, proposing to her. This is the event signaling the game's end, so he and the others are released from the game mechanic's control. Everything is great again for CP and FL, who sing together at an end of the year party/festival. Heroine does not get any major punishment but her reputation is still ruined, so she has no chance of advancing socially in the slightest.

I tried to understand through google translate, so the heroine lied about being the goddess of freesia. It happened during the tea party event. "The condemned event". The targets were all present and the heroine. The prince, tried to cancel the engagement because Ophelia is not the goddess. Klaus(?) One of the targets said to ophelia that she should step back and should let Alicia become the prince's fiancee because she is the Goddess of Freesia. It was really heartbreaking especially to Ophelia when all the targets tried to accuse her for something she didn't do, remember the ballpen? The heroine as usual is a black lotus. Then when the prince tries to cancel the engagement, Io(?) The gardener brought the black freesia(?) That Ophelia was trying to bloom. Then something happened, there's a mark that signifies that a person is a goddess of freesia. It is located on the chest. It seems that the heroine is a fake goddess of freesia. The mark disappeared on her chest. So she was faking it. Ophelia is the true goddess of freesia.

Honestly, I felt bad for Ophelia. She deserves a better ml :(. The Prince was actually sad when he tried to cancel the engagement. For me, i think all the targets were aware that Ophelia is not a bad person and she didn't do anything bad towards Alicia but they still accused her because they thought that Alicia is the goddess but then when the mark disappeared and when they knew that Alicia lied to them, they all switch to Ophelia's side. Like what the fuck is going on? It was really complicated.

Here's the scene where Felix tried to annul his engagement to Ophelia and even asked her if she bullied Alicia:

"Let's stop the roundabout way. Miss Ophelia, you're going to step down from Felix's fiancée, and Felix will marry Alicia, the goddess of freesia. Of course, the three of us. Also"

    “…………”

     It's really a game-like development.

(The villain daughter Ophelia is fooling around here and causes tantrums, right?)

――But I don't want to show him such a ugly figure.

    "I don't want to say this ..."

    "...?"

     Then Felix opened his mouth.

"Did Ophelia break Miss Alicia's pen at the entrance ceremony? At the beginning, Alicia had a lot of problems."

Felix makes it hard to say, but all of them were bullied by Alicia's own work.

No way to come here and be blamed for that.

Even if I argue, Alicia, who became the goddess of freesia, would have an advantage.

The power of the goddess is very important to dispel evil spirits and promise a pure future to this country.

"I was surprised that Miss Ophelia was behaving like that, but I have no choice but to be punished."

    "……Is that so"

Biting her lips, Ophelia turns her gaze toward Alicia.

He put his hand on his eyes and turned his face down, playing the daughter who was being bullied, saying, "It was painful ...".

But next to him, Felix looked at Ophelia with a painful look.

    (Felix-sama?)

But Felix slowly shakes his head and looks straight at Ophelia.

"I abandon my engagement with Ophelia here--"
    ....................
It was like, If Ophelia is not the goddess of freesia, they will try to condemned Ophelia for the things she didnt do to Alicia even though it's not true. Btw, I haven't finish reading it yet.

Yeah, that's when I start to hate the story (chapter 17). I mean, like how can they all be happy and acting lovey-dovey as if nothing happened on the next day (chapter 18), knowing what the guys had tried to do and what would have happened to her had the mark of the Goddess is there? And I still want to punch the prince's face. He should have cancelled the engagement and do the investigation privately but instead, he chose to humiliate her publicly. Yet he had the nerve to look at her sadly while doing that? F*** him and every one of them.

I would have definitely broken off my engagement and my relationship with all 4 of them after that... but that would be too boring for some people I suppose. So, let's have a love-sick fool of an MC instead. :blob_tilt:

Okay, what exactly is the reasoning behind this? Did they accuse MC because they feared heroine’s wrath? (Seeing as how she became a central figure for their country?) That doesn’t track if it’s the case. They could have pulled MC aside and explained the situation, then put on a show for the heroine without, you know, psychologically scarring the MC.
Look, @Nuzlocke, another one of those MLs showed up. You can literally watch them spawn, like mold on a piece of bread. Isn’t it beautiful? XD

Ophelia being the merciful and kind MC just forget about what they did to her. It really sucks. Ophelia should just ditch them. She shouldn't trust them anymore. There's nothing much relevant interactions with the rest of target characters besides when Ophelia met them. Ophelia is always with Felix. So she has much more interaction with Felix. The rest were like mushroom that just pops out of nowhere.

The target characters don't have POVs. Io and Karin are the only characters who are loyal to Ophelia.

After the revelation that Ophelia is the goddess of freesia, they just all knelt under her and act like lovey dovey. That's why I don't like the story. The characters are so shallow except for Ophelia since she's the MC.

it was really complicated because I'm using google translate but based on my own understanding, Ophelia kept talking the about the Heroine's bug..like some sort of bug that happens to the system of the game. Alicia tried to scheme again but failed. Alicia tried to replace or replant the black freesia that is under Ophelia's care using grandpa gardener. I don't know why exactly Alicia did that but she succeeded on that maybe she's trying to make up something that Ophelia is not a goddess. Fortunately, Ophelia discovered her plans.

Based on Ophelia's POV, it was like the game system controls the target characters actions ( so it's like the game is forcing the target characters to act like what they should act according to their roles) and even has a bug for the heroine to initiate her plan to capture the targets. There were several scenes that Felix was called by the teacher that's why he couldn't lunch with Ophelia but Felix ended up with Alicia in the cafeteria to eat lunch together and Ophelia couldn't even meet the target characters often and on time. I think the more flowers she planted under her care, the more chances to have interactions with the targets but because of Alicia's scheme of replanting Ophelia's freesia. Alicia seems to have more interactions and meets with the target characters. There's also a bug scene where Alicia got partnered with Felix.

Ophelia thought it was a bug. I don't really understand. Nothing much happened except for the return of Alicia after the tea party event. It was like Alicia has some sort of control because she's the heroine of the game. So if she doesn't capture the target that was supposed to be captured during an event, A bug will fix it up for her to have an opportunity to capture the target.

I'm really disappointed with the story. I didn't enjoy it and the character development sucks. Really sucks. The ML and the targets are ...... Disappointing.

Yeah, shallow characters and stupid gimmicks are a major reason why most of these stories aren't very good ):

thank you so much for spoiler!
yeah... i tried to skip to some chapter with 'condemnation' as part of the title and just like your spoiler, felix tried to annul their engagement and all that. at first i thought it was just some ruse to expose the heroine and felix and the fishes are always on MC side or something. but seems like felix actually tried to annul the engagement for real albeit reluctantly... then after the heroine lost her goddess mark or something they immediately simp on MC? what :blobdizzy:

then the next day (or chapter) the boys act like nothing wrong and "love dovey uwu i wish i meet her sooner than any of you loser dovey love". this boys are fish and not human.... and dont get me started on the MC accepting and forgiving everything. but to be fair i didnt read the whole novel and just go straight to the climax

I MTL translated from the beginning but I couldn't continue after chapter 19.

See, the condemnation was in chapter 16 and 17. They tried to break their relationship with her, interrogate and punish her based on what the heroine said (because apparently what the Saintess said goes). It only turned around when the son of the gardener rushed in to show the black flowers to her. She was sad and scared before that scene. Seeing the flowers, the heroine got angry (because it means something in the original game) and tried to show off her mark of Goddess/Saintess (I couldn't remember) but the mark wasn't there. So they renounce the heroine as a fake and then immediately simp the MC. I'm like... what?

But I continued to MTL the next chapters just to see if there is any acceptable explanation but nope.

All we get are the guys acting like typical overbearing MLs especially the prince. Jealous, pushy, declaring their love for her, and so on... oh, and don't forget the molesting and the I-can't-wait-to-tear-your-clothes-on vibe. But what makes it even worse is that the MC didn't even care about what happened before. Sure, we were told that she has always been in love with him but... She was all shy and happy being kissed by the prince and spending time with him with not an ounce of anger and sadness... She didn't want to distance herself at all but instead all too happy to accept him again.

With that, I just can't brain it anymore so I stopped.

I don't know since I stopped MTL but probably not given how lovey-dovey the MC is with the prince in chapter 18 and 19.
