Hi, So I have been wondering lately if its possible for me to hire a translator to translate a novel for me, and I am willing to pay. The novel that I would like to be translated are one of these three: City Lady Killer Nine Sun God King Heavenly Star Dragon Blood Warrior One of these 3 novels can be picked according to your preference as I need a translator for one of these books. My top choice being City Lady Killer, Nine Sun God King, Heavenly Star, and then Dragon Blood Warrior. As for how long it would take to translate you can let me know too, I can wait just not too long. If its possible for anyone to pick up and translate one of these novels for me personally please do contact me on novel updates or at my email : [email protected] (its a weird name yep) The Price can be negotiated, since its my first time please don't scam me hahahaha. Hope that someone could help me with this as I am a person who struggles to read through MTL so I am relying on you good sirs.
to be honest, it is a bit unrealistic for one person to pay a single translator to translate an entire book.
Even the shortest one out of the ones you listed has 200+ chapters left, so if you're looking for just one person don't expect it any time soon unless you're willing and able to pay them to work on translating it full-time. Like, let's say they can dedicate ten hours a week to translating because they have another responsibility (work, school, etc.), and let's say they can translate one chapter an hour (this could depend on how long the chapters are, how complex the language is, and how fast the translator works) and you'll get unedited translations. For the shortest novel you listed, that's still 5 months of work.
Hey really sorry I had not seen the forum(Translator Corner) where you had posted. I am sorry for misdirecting you. I sincerely apologize
I see, how much would that cost? I’m willing to pay tbh, I have money but nothing to spend it on. I would be glad to spend it on this since I can read something. No problem man
I have no idea, I just translate as a hobby so I don't want to throw out some random numbers and be totally wrong lol.
Would you be willing to do it? I do not mind waiting if you want to put it on hold since you are translating at the moment. You can quote a price as well.
What he said. Especially given that Chinese novels have a lot of chapters. Even if someone agrees to $5 per chapter at the start, they will always find a better job and you will be stuck with an incomplete novel. As someone who translated Heavenly Star, the novel has so many sex scenes and sexual content that the ads on it were demonetized. Readership was also pathetically low. I advice that you start a Patreon to fund the novel like the team for Legendary Moonlight Sculptor is doing. $10 per chapter is $2,000 for 200 chapters $5 per chapter is $1,000 for 200 chapters. Do you have $1,000 lying around?
Sorry, it's too much of a time commitment for me and it's not really the type of novel I like to read either. Good luck with finding someone ^_^
Tbh I have no idea, as I am Asian I am not used to paying in USD and I don't know how translation costs would work. I just really want to read these novels without mtl, so I decided to try this and see if anyone could do it. I don't mean to be wasting any of your time, so I apologise if I sound very stupid with all of this hahaha. So I need to see how much you would want me to pay you so that I can get a rough idea and decide.
You ignored my previous post but I will give you a piece of useful advice: You need a second translator to vet the translations or you may get cheated
although individual chapter price may vary from translator to translator, the total budget should be the same. So, if you don't mind, what's your total budget?
You are welcome. My advice is to hire a translator that already owns a website and you can use the community to vet their translation quality eg the dude/dudette below
