I'm debating whether this reply is worth anything considering how you wouldn't be able to read it and all that. :blobpensive:

I think it's just you. Most of us have a defense mechanism called "sleep" that kicks in before that point is normally reached. Honestly it's annoying I know I could go for many more hours without, but then I suddenly find myself in a puddle of drool on the couch.

As for forgetting how to read, that has happened to me before. It was super weird. I knew how to pronounce all the words but I just couldn't comprehend or remember their meanings. Sometimes I still know their meaning but I can't combine them together to form a sentence.

I sometimes forget "time" when reading especially at night. I'll just notice the sky go bright and realize I was up all night reading....

Erm, I do read too much occasionally and give myself reading fatigue, I sometimes run out of material I'm interested in, and I've read late into the night and had to quit because I was too sleepy and could barely understand the words...but so far I've never forgotten how to read. I bet if I read enough MTL this would happen to me, though.

Hahaha the thread title is so misleading.
I thought he was talking about how you got too engrossed in a book and had a hard time staying away from it.
This is just a shit post..

This happens to me too. Like, I read the words, understand each of their meanings, but can't comprehend what the sentence means. Even if I do, I can't link the sentences with each other. It's extremely frustrating and makes me mad. This mostly happens when I read too much stuff from all kinds of different genre and suddenly pick up something entirely different. For example, I was reading "Norwegian Wood" after reading a BL QT few days ago and I just couldn't understand what was happening in there. It was so bad that I stopped reading and still haven't been able to pick it up again.
