Well, Kenkyo, Kenjitsu o Motto ni Ikite Orimasu is a villainess novel set in modern times, predating and probably an inspiration for most otome game villainess novels out there. Though this one is technically a modern world manga villainess, not an otome game one. It explores things that other otome game villainess would not experience in a modern world but in exchange, no actual fantasy is involved in the story.
