I'm seeing some serious mistakes these day which got me to wonder if people actually read their own translations. -.- I honestly don't see how these mistakes would pass otherwise...
Nope, some translators just pass it onto the editors and proofreaders to fix up the mistakes and double check everything is fine. Though some translators do actually read it and fix the mistakes themselves and pass it onto the editors to double check (or they publish it if they don’t have an editor)
That really doesn't do much when it's a mistake in translation... Example: When you type her instead of him, it doesn't know the difference.
Yes. I don't have an editor for most of my projects, so I kind of have no choice. I tend to read the whole chapter out loud to try and catch mistakes and make sure things flow well and there aren't any obvious issues. I think that's standard for most editors, though. But since it's just me, some errors will always slip through the cracks, so I give other translators the benefit of the doubt when I notice mistakes.
The common ones like him/her getting mixed up, repeating sentences/missing sentences, Aristocracy ranking mistakes, and inconsistent naming, Most annoying one being adding / removing "Sama/San/Chan/Kun/Dono/Chi" randomly. (And incorrectly -.-)
then those are most likely just lazy mtl or inexperienced tlers >.> i know of one group with those frequent mistakes lol i wonder how they are allowed to be on nu… i usually don’t reread mine so a few typos and grammar errors slip through the crack
Yes before I post it but since it's my own work when I read it at first I will notice some grammatical mistakes then I will edit it but sometimes even if I do that and I read that work again in a few hours or days I will find another mistake, that's why I believe a QC or an editor is important in translation projects but since I'm a one-man army so I don't really have a choice.
I read the chapter again before posting, but there're always a few mistakes I don't see. I recently noticed that I forgot to translate a few lines of dialogue. My translation speed is very slow, so I don't work with a translation group or editor.
