I've already discussed that scene before in this post. The tripping scene is only in the manga, not the novel. The manga isn't a 100% accurate to the LN, as some scenes and dialogues are added, changed or removed. It doesn't deviate from the general plot, though.

If you mean that the manga artist changed the original scene of Octavia tripping and Clifford catching her, that's not true either. Yoneda Kazusa updates the manga (tweet about it) on comic-walker. Just looked it up. Both the original monotone version and the colored version of the manga still have this scene. I don't know what site you're looking at :meowoh: .

Tbh, I kinda ship him with Mathilda the head maid :meowsip: , since they were in a scene together, plus another maid called Kiesha. I kinda loved the dynamic between them, and Mathilda is a pretty notable maid.

Sarah... needs a hug more than a man (that poor girl...). :meowoh:

Sorry, but I just read the ch 4 of the manga, and I saw nothing suggesting Nathaniel was Octavia's biological father.

Oh, I know these fans! I love their fanart the most!

Sooooo I finally got and translated Cliffy's P~O~V~. Oh and there's another story with Douche and Generic Derek, but Clifffyyyyy~~~~~

As always save the best for last, so you'll have to wait a little longer for Clifford's POV.

    BUT FIRST
    What. The. Fuck.
This time Volume 5 has only TWO ILLUSTRATIONS! LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!
And I don't mean two illustrations with Clifford in it like in Volume 3 (volume 1,2 and 4 had the most illustrations and with Clifford) since I care about Clifford the most. I mean two illustrations IN TOTAL! That's so unfair. And Twitter's already shared the image with Clifford and Octavia in it (and I don't mean the volume 5 cover).
It's beautiful but I need MOAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR! I AM VITAMIN C DEPRIVEDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!
What about the horse scene? Or the coffee scene? OR THE HUG SCENE AT THE END! NOT EVEN AN IMAGE FOR CLIFFORD'S POV!!!!!!!!!!!! :blob_thor:
The other image has Hugh in it. And I'm not gonna show it, because Clifford is all we ever need. We're not going around to other men! I don't care how hot he looks might look. CLIFFORD IS HOTTER!! MUCH HOTTER! MOST HOTTEST!
There isn't enough fanart to substitute this :meowsadlife:

So here's the extra chapter I only translated for the plot (and I did not enjoy it). It's the story with the two third-wheelers.

WARNING. I will quip a lot. And it's not skippable. :meowsip:

So Douche is having some headache, just after he tells a soldier to go back to the store where Octavia was.

He wondered why Octavia would a place that royalty and aristocrats wouldn't visit (so much for "OhHhH pRiNcE cEliUS CarES aBOuT tHe CoMMonErS". "He's SUUU UnDuRsTenDiN" my ass :meowsipglare:). He thinks that she visited cuz it's Edgar's birthplace and I think the place where he and Enoch met. He wondered if Octavia was plotting something to protect Derek (First, Ew. Second, your paranoia is going to make you friendless :meowsipglare:). But then he remembered that Clifford only protected Octavia during the raid by the Carlam trees and the traitor was actually from his own knights (ah, the good times :meowcoffee: I remembered how I happily mocked him). Nathan kidnapping Sil (which is fake btw) occupies most of his mind and he was frustrated to wait for Hugh to contact him (since he had gone to the castle).

Douche began to walk to the store and his headache came back and it was immense. He had a strong sense of deja vu of the scene of the entrance of the store. He was never there before, but he then wondered if he actually had been here before (as former Celius). He, of course, couldn’t remember.

Then an old memory popped into his head of Enoch telling him not to get close, and former Celius at the time retorts that what was wrong with trying to meet his grandparents, aka Edgar's parents (well, they kinda hate you). Enoch then says that Celius doesn't know anything (You're half the reason for this cliffhanger of mysteries, you damn king :meowsipglare:). The current Douche wondered why was he warned and where was he told not to come near, and of course, he knew it was the store. So apparently, former Celius did visit the store before but he didn't enter (wow, so you were a coward even back then :meowsip: . I especially hate him in Clifford's latest POV). He didn't know if he didn't go in because of his own accord or was thwarted in some way.

So he finally went in and couldn't find Octavia and the others on the first floor (they ditched you lol ::blobpeaking::). The headache and the deja vu were gone when he looked around the store. The only unusual thing he found in the store was a Lishran flower that was by the staircase. The flower was apparently seen in the royal castle gardens but not generally widely distributed. He remembered that Octavia had one in her hair at the castle (she had it thrice on) and Edgar was likely involved in how to obtain it (Oh, oh dear.... I just suddenly realized......:meowknife: ). Douche noticed traces of paintings on the wall that seem to have been displayed for a long time and have been removed very recently (My guess is that it included images of Irene, and they removed it because it reminded them of her who died. Maybe even Edgar, who is now associated with the royal family, who may have something to do with Irene's death). That was about the only time he felt uncomfortable on the first floor. He then saw the staircase and was about to head up until he his right-now-not-so-best-friend best friend, shows up.

Douche asks where's Octavia (she's gone to elope with her knight boyfriend :meowsip:), and Derek lies that she's on the second floor (we know where she is :bloblenny:). Douche says that he wants to talk to Octavia, but Derek doesn't move. So he asks what's he trying to do, and Derek says that if he wants to talk why not talk to him. So Douche says to talk about what, to prove his innocence. Douche can't pretend that Derek's name wasn't written on the piece of paper that the crook had.

So Generic boi tells Serious boy if he remembered the advice he gave him yesterday, cuz he apparently visited last night through the secret passageway. The advice was “It’s a mistake to doubt Octavia-sama. There are other people to be suspicious of".

I can sense a hint to sarcasm when Douche tells him who is he supposed to suspect if Derek is saying that it's neither Octavia nor Alderton. And Generic boy says that he can't tell him yet because he has no proof (This, ladies & gentlemen, is "How to start a story based on the misunderstanding trope 101" ... but at the same time.... I get it. The Celius rn is a douche so he won't listen. Even when his bestie told him "You're sis aint sus or a psychopath" and he's like "nahhhh she's sus" :meowsipglare: So I'll give generic Derek a little leeway...just a little....). Douche tells him It's not worth considering and why Derek won't just say the name. So he replies that Douche had Clifford's testimony (which he disregarded :blobunamused:) so Douche needs to be suspicious of his allies even if it's Derek, since Clifford saw one of Douche's men sabotage the carriage. And I'm just like mmmm brewing drama :meowcoffee: . Douch is like you're defending Clifford who's a suspect but you're telling me to suspect my allies without naming them :blobpopcorn_two: , and accuses him of trying to stir up an internal discord.

Then suddenly, everyone's favorite comedy relief soldier, Guy, comes down and Douche goes up. He sees.....Octavia....but it's not really Octavia, it's Eleil lol! :blobrofl: And he knew it wasn't her despite Guy hiding Eliel's face with the black fan. But you know I was more surprised how Douchebag wasn't going "WHY ARE YOU WEARING SISTER'S DRESS!?!?!?" :blobfearful: . I guess he is dead on the inside.

Anyways, he goes to another room and sees Edgar's mom. Then Derek comes up and Douche wants an explanation. He tells him straight that she's gone off to the castle, and asshole Douchebag thinks she's gone off to Sill or to reunite with Nathan, implying she's a part of the plot. No, you dumbfuck, she's gone off to stop Hugh-pain-in-the-ass because you're useless :blob_thor: . His paranoia isn't even toning down at this point.

Of course, Derek tells him he's off the mark and shows him a piece of paper with direct reports from Nathan, signifying that they are working together. Douchebag asks why Nathan was talking to him directly (because you're no fun when they bring you to their hangouts so they decided to ghost u :cookie:). At this point, he realizes that Hugh was the imposter all along.

Part of Douchebag couldn't believe it.

The other part was skeptical of Hugh now.

He then said that Derek should have shown this to him right away (BITCH YOU WOULDN'T HAVE BELIEVED HIM! YOU DON'T EVEN BELIEVE HIM WHEN HE KEPT SAYING THAT YOUR SISTER WAS NOT EVILLLL!!! :blob_thor::blob_thor::blob_thor::blob_thor::blob_thor::blob_thor:). And APPARENTLY, Derek says "Have you prepared an escape route?" Is he accusing him of letting Hugh-pain-in-the-ass secretly goooo :blobfearful: ???? First, dick move on Douche's part, second, see I told you so, douche won't listen, and third, didn't he already let him go before when Hugh-pain-in-the-ass was taken under suspicion :meowsipglare: . Derek simply says that if Douche doesn't believe him, that's the end of that and everything will go according to Hugh's plan.

Douchebag then asks if Octavia believed him (she's got more brains and sense than you, asshole :blobcurse:). Derek says that that's why she isn't here (because she went to the castle to stop Hugh), and that even if Derek doesn't move (do anything), Hught must be stopped. And I think Celius was a little offended because, in his monologue, he thought What do you mean even if I don't move? :blobrofl: He means what he means. :meowsip:

Derek tests him by asking that both Hugh and him were suspected so what would Celius do and who would he believe. Celius replies neither of them but really he wants to believe in both of them (how~sad~ :blobcatnomcandycane: can you note the sarcasm?).

So the only way for Douche to check the authenticity the fastest was to check it out with his own eyes. He tells Derek he's still under surveillance, and Derek laughed as if relieved. Douche is confused, since he didn't believe in Derek. Derek basically says that Sill is the only exception to not be suspected by Douche, so Douche would suspect either him or Hugh, but Derek feared that Douche would support Hugh (I mean, he was prior to this revelation, wasn't he?) and Douche's thoughts get twisted when Octavia gets involved :)blob_thor:).

He acknowledged to himself that he became aware of the discrepancies in his memories whenever he had headaches and that he had a vague sense of trust in Hugh, even now, which he didn't know why (that's because those feelings of trust are from former Celius).

He was kinda about to remember the promise he made with Hugh as former Celius until he shook his head and thoughts that there was no time to wait for something he couldn’t remember. He ordered to cancel the inspection and to hurry to the royal castle, but I think he backtracked to manipulate the information that the inspection was still going on. Guy and Eliel, who was still in the dress lol, came forward (again, how can you not react to this!?!?!? He ain't got no soul). Douche orders the two to continue to stand in and protect Octavia, and Douche will prepare his own double too, and to continue the inspection, and on the way back, they ride the carriage with the doubles.

Originally, I thought that Douche's POV was going to be in third person, like Clifford's POV, due to the lack of personal pronouns. I thought maybe that was a way to allow a comparison between Douche, the original novel's ML, and Clifford, our ML. But nope, as always, Clifford is one of a kind. :blob_blush::meowpuffymelt:

Next time, it will be about Clifford's POV~~~~~~~~~~ :blobtaco::blobtaco::blobtaco:

The content in his POV may shock you.

    Probably.

    I dunno.

I read this chapter three years ago, and it was a little different.

For my brain, relative = father :blobsalute:. That's it, it's time for me and my brain to rest. When I'm trying my best to find Octavia's biological father.:bloborz:. Sorry.

It feels like they don't want to do a novel... It used to be in paper form with a lot of illustrations! And now everything is sad...
    Sirius's POV is just :facepalm::blobsalute::meowyaranaika:

There's nothing mentioning that Nathaniel was a relative either though.

Yeah, there's nothing mentioned about Octavia's biological father. Her biological mom herself only got a teenie-weenie, itty-bitty mention. I doubt we'd get to meet him, or at least anytime soon. :blobawkward:

Tbh, I feel like it's the novel illustrator who might've been uninterested :hmm: . Their illustrations are in a lot of different works, so they could've been busy... but only two illustrations for LN vol 5 is still ridiculous. :blob_catflip:

The author felt motivated to me, however. They were really consistent with vol 5, updating regularly on the weekends, that they finished vol 5 pretty soon. I guess they were really inspired at the time, since, and I'm saying this from my perspective who likes to write in her free time, writer's block is a bitch. So good for the author. blobmelt_thumbs

I hope your emoji reactions mean "Ugh. Sirius-ly?" :cookie: Because that is the only reaction I will accept :cookie: .

Here it is! Clifford’s seventh POV~~

Also, sorry @zezet, but there wasn't any mention of Clifford wanting to be Octavia's model to dress up for her. :blobpensive:

Now, grab your Vitamin C beverage (orange juice or you can go for lemonade. I don’t discriminate) :meowsip: and get ready.

While walking through the grand corridor (the one with the Sky God that he needs to pass through to get to his room), Clifford was pondering on what Octavia meant to him (love of your life, wife, soulmate :bloblove: ). He gets that, to him, as a “Jyuu”, she’s his master (kinky :bloblenny: ), and he’s also an "escort knight" to her as the first princess ( :bloblenny: ), but he asks what she means to him as an individual (I sense that crush is blooming :aww: ). He remembered answering her that she was like a weapon to him, and we finally get what he meant by that.

She was similar to the longsword on his waist, which he would feel uncomfortable if it was touched by someone other than himself (called it! on post #284:blobphone: Man, I’m good :blobamused: ). If his sword were to be chipped, he’d want to repair it (Ig, in similarity to Octavia, if she were hurt, he’d want her to be okay, like how he took care of her mental stress by patting her head when she had a nightmare, patting her head when she was crying because of PTSD, and hugging & patting her head when she feeling down because of Hugh. Not to mention he provided first aid when Octavia self-injured herself :bloblove: ). Clifford would feel restless when he is not equipped with his sword (so he’d feel restless if he wasn’t beside her and someone other than him was guarding her as his knight :aww: ).

He found it unpleasant when he found that someone else (Edgar) put fresh flowers in Octavia's hair when he was in the dungeon, and even during the inspection when Douchebag fixed her hair ornament during the fake flower ceremony because someone other than himself touched her (OH MYYYYY~~~~~~~~~~ :aww::aww::aww: Getting a lil jelly? :blob_blush: You want exclusivity~~~~ :blobcatblush: ). He’d feel uncomfortable if Octavia gets hurt and when she’s far away (I need detailsss :blobhyperthink:).

So that’s how similar she was to a weapon in his opinion.

And apparently, ever since it came into his life, a weapon become the only thing he could only rely on since the first time he used a dagger to kill a human. Now, refer to chapter 70 in volume 4. During a dream sequence Octavia had that showed Clifford’s past as a child, a young Clifford was abused and was told fight, but Clifford didn’t want to. He was then drowned with a rope around his leg, until he used a dagger to not only cut of the rope but also stab the jackass in the foot who abused and threw Clifford into the water. Since then, Clifford has no expectations of anyone since no one came to help him, and now considers weapons to be the only thing reliable because he can use them, and they can’t betray him. It was a really sad chapter. :blobcry:

Anyways, “[Clifford] put his hand on his hair once and released it.” (Do you get it!? :aww: He tried to pat-pat himself~~~ :blob_patpat: He understood Octavia’s actions when she tried to touch his hair, like he did for her, but she stopped when he called him out. He tried to pat himself to know what it feels like if Octavia pat-pat him :meowinlove::meowinlove::meowinlove: ~~~) Of course, naturally he felt nothing. But it wasn’t unpleasant to be touched (he wanted the pat-pat :meowpuffymelt: He doesn’t mind being touched her :meowpuffymelt: MOEEEEEEEEEE :meowpuffysoul:). His thoughts add “Rather ―” (Rather what? :blobthinkingsmirk: You want to be touched? :blob_blush: By Octavia? :blob_blush: Oh my lawdie lawd I can’t. This is too sweet :blobreachdrool:).

He originally wondered if this kind of feeling was what a "Jyuu" has for his "master" (NO! :blob_catflip: NO, IT’S NOT! IT’S VOLUME 5! :blob_catflip: JUST ACCEPT YOUR INDIVIDUAL FEELINGS OF LOVE FOR HERRR!!!). Then he wondered if he liked his new Lev bird tassel because Octavia, who is his “master” and like a weapon to him, gave it to him (Yes… yes, Clifford. There’s no rocket science behind this :meowsleepless: ). Octavia also has a part of the Lev bird, since she has the black fan made from lev feathers, which is what she’s known by. Clifford’s thought cut off with “That itself” of the fact that both of them having matching ornaments that uses Lev bird feathers (and not to mention the bird itself connotates misfortune). I can give my own assumptions and theories, but my delusions will take us to point a to point z, so let us continue on. :cookie:

Clifford did, though, think that it was interesting :bloblove: . Until his thoughts were cut off when someone called out his full name. Clifford stopped walking when he confirmed the appearance of the person with his eyes. The person was standing in the center. And the guy just asked if he ever thought of killing himself. WHAT!? :blobastonished: WHAT THE FUCK!? :blobcatsipsweats: BRO!? How do you start a conversation like that? :blobconcerned: And how dare you to my Cliffy!? :blob_thor: What are you trying to suggest!? I will start a petition!!!

Clifford, of course, bluntly answers no (…. I mean, it kinda reaffirms my early theory that Clifford isn’t suicidal when there was an assumption the Sill is Clifford from the past… dark days…).

Clifford never wanted to die even one (Yes, Clifford! :blobnobully: I love a male lead who isn’t stuck in the past with self-pity! You have so much to live for! :blobreachdrool: Octavia and future children!). If he’d rather die, he’d rather kill others (………… I mean :meowoh: …. do the others include jerk god and his associates? .... I’m fine with you punching Douchebag in the throat once :blobhero: ).

So this asshole person began that he never wanted to kill himself as much as he does now and that tomorrow he’ll forget things including his original will and Octavia again.

Yes. That’s right. The person is Douchebag :blobunamused: . I’m not surprised with how he started a convo with “Ever thought of killing yourself?” Though, to be exact, it’s former Celius, prior to being brainwashed/hypnotized. ….. Which makes me still hate him :blobspearpeek: . Cuz he started the convo with that!! :blobcat_rawr:

When Clifford looked at former Celius/Douchebag, his appearance didn’t change, but Clifford understood, because former Celius/Douchebag just talked about memory. So, putting two and two together, Clifford wondered if the presence or absence of memories shapes a person's personality, and so if the man before him (former Celius) is called the original first prince (yes, he is, he also the remnants of a douchebag :blobunamused: ). Even though both of them are first princes, former Celius seemed to be more troublesome to Clifford (you are exactly correct, Clifford. And that is why I stan you~~ :blobdoggoheart: ).

Anyways, former Celius tells him that he’ll be wary of Clifford again tomorrow, to which Clifford replies if he isn’t wary of him already. Former Celius ask, of him, because he’s 'Ongarne’s Messenger'? He goes on that at least tomorrow he won't be able to get rid of the idea that Octavia has Clifford as her pet dog (Fuck you :blob_thor: . How dare you call him a pet dog when Octavia considers him a person!? :blob_thor: See? This is why I don’t like former Celius) and is aiming for the throne and Sill (nobody wants your boytoy :blobunamused: . periodt). Then former Celius deeply sighed, and that he has trouble understanding why his little sister has to do such crazy things (I think). Clifford doesn’t say a thing. Former Celius keeps blabbering going on that he as former Celius has no reason to be wary of Clifford (Hahahahahahahaahahaahhahaha!!! :blobrofl::blobrofl:... He’s gonna marry your sister :bloboh:). That is unless Clifford intends to use and betray Octavia (kinda like the douchebag who wants her to be a babymaker ooooooo ::blobpeaking::). He, as former Celius, thinks of Clifford as a useful human resource (ffffffffffffuck offff! :blobcat_rawr: He’s not a pet dog! :blob_thor: He’s not a human resource! :blob_thor: And that’s not your call to make! :blobcurse::blobcurse: )

Clifford says back in a polite and rude attitude of telling him that he’s honored to receive his praise. But we all know that he’s not! :blob3cevil:

But former Celius doesn’t give a damn. Tch

And this fucker had the audacity to say that he should’ve thought of wanting to put Clifford under his command!!! :blobcurse: I knew it! :blobcat_rawr: I KNEW IT! Deep down, he wanted Clifford in his faction! Idc if it’s a joke! :blob_thor: The wish of controlling Clifford, Ongarne’s messenger, is subconsciously somewhere in there! :blob_thor: Can we please just have a natural disaster and just end him! :blobcat_rawr:

Clifford claps back say that he sent him, who he wants to keep under his control, to the dungeon. Yes, Cliffy! Be petty! Hold grudges! :meowsipglare:

Still-a-bitc I mean former Celius apologizes (it’s not an actual apology. I refuse to accept that as an apology :meowsipglare: ). He says he’ll change his mind tomorrow (? Idc what he means anymore :blobunamused: ) and STILL GOES ON ABOUT WHAT’S CLIFFORD’S ANSWER! :blob_thor::blob_thor: BITCH, STOP! :blobcat_rawr: He said no the first time! :blobstare:

And Clifford, being the unshakable chad that he is, refuses. (Attaboy, Clifford :meowsipglare: ! Attaboy! I stan! I stan so hard that I need to sit!).

Former Celius is like yeah I figured (why’d you ask him twice then? :meowsipglare: If you get in front of my ship, I will ram you into an iceberg, and not even an iceberg can sink my ship! It’s stronger than the titanic! :meowpuffysoul: ). Anyways, he nodded enthusiastically. Idk why. Does he ship it too? Idk. I just want Clifford’s fanservice at this point. :meowknife:

And then finally Clifford talked back by asking what’s his business with Clifford and why doesn’t he talk to Hugh Roberts instead of him (I am loving this petty energy :meowcoffee: but it’s not petty enough :meowknife: ). Clifford didn’t mean to go along with the introduction and wished that he should have waited while I guess former Celius passed through the corridor (yeah, why didn’t you? :blobcat_rawr:).

At Hugh’s name being mentioned, former Celius’ expression distorted. He says that he remained in the dungeon after Octavia left, and talked with Hugh. Both him as Douchebag and still-a-bitc I mean former Celius. But then add that it's none of Clifford’s business (why’d you call him out then!? :blob_thor: ). And says that Clifford’s not even interested (you’re right :meowsipglare: . He’s not. He just wanted you to go away. Take a hint meowglare).

Clifford did have little interest in Roberts' betrayal or the reason for it. And even if he did understand the reasoning, Clifford won't have any sympathy. He’s basically like “I don’t care at all” :bloboh: . But that’s why it was baffling to him, because Octavia was hurt by Hugh Roberts' actions. It wasn’t physical pain, like she got at the semi-ball. But she suffered a psychological wound. And, Clifford couldn't even forgive such wounds (awwww~~ :aww: I stan supportive MLs to mental health~~ :bloblove: Cuz everyone else be like “lemme lock you up gurl, because that’s how romantic I am” meowglare).

Clifford thinks “insignificant things hurt Octavia”. I just love how he indirectly called Hugh-pain-in-the-ass an insignificant thing blobmelt_thumbs . I wanted a convo between these two because he essentially took Clifford’s job lol for the entirety of vol 4 and 5. And then Clifford wondered what about Octavia, who was hurt by something that was insignificant? Again, he wondered if such feelings were normal for a “Jyuu” to have towards the "master" (I want to give a test to Cliffy meowglare . Imagine that Octavia gets married or has a boyfriend, and gives she gives most of her attention to him, and boyfriend/husband tells Clifford that he’ll take care of Octavia now. On a scale 1 to 10, how uncomfortable do you Clifford would be :meowsipglare: ? I’m thinking… 20 :meowsip: .)

Former Celius says that the reason he came to the Great Corridor was to remember. He was looking up at the ceiling painting of the sky god, but Clifford didn't even look up at it because he finds it uncomfortable when it’s in sight ( :blob_patpat: ).

Former Celius stated that he lost part of his memory here, but he doesn’t know by who (very sus that it was under the painting for the sky god :hmm: . I smell rotting fish :hmm: ). And apparently, former Celius was able to resist to an extraordinary degree of the hypnosis (Wait, that’s his resistance? :blobunsure: ). He adds that only a limited number of people can pass through the Great Corridor and former Celius was more than a little wary of the one who made him lose his memory.

He says, and I quote, "If I think about it" and then says “―― Alexis”. :blobsleepless: (Get outta here :blobsleepless: . You’re telling me, Alexis, the only person who genuinely cares about Octavia in this entire fucked up family… could be the one behind douche’s memory loss :blobcat_rawr: ? I mean, sure he’s got some weird power :blob_tilt: … but I don’t believe it :blobcat_rawr: ! That is so unfair to be targeting Alexis :blobcat_rawr: , who’s forced to be the black sheep of the sheep, excluding Octavia, who openly loves him). Former Celius warns Clifford to watch out for Alexis. Clifford, I think thinks, that’s needless to say (I think this is why Clifford once had a chat with Guy on whether he found something different about Alexis. I guess he knew somehow :hmm: …. Hmmmmm….). And even former Celius says that Clifford’s not surprised, was he.:blobwoah:

Clifford remained silent, and instead asked a question. He asked why him, like why tell him all this. Former Celius says that Alexis won't hurt Octavia (periodt! :blob_thor:). And I’m confused about this part since I MTLed but he says that “It's because that child’s heart seems to have forgiven you. Probably.” I wonder if he’s talking about Alexis because Alexis hates Clifford because he’s part of the Alderton family, which Alexis loathes because of his dreams of the past :hmm: . Idk if he’s actually forgiven him, because we have not seen Alexis since volume 3 where he got only one chapter as his pov, and him and douchebag aren’t close (they haven’t even had a one-to-one convo), so who knows really :hmm: . Former Celius does say that Octavia would grieve if Clifford was gone. :blobnom:

Clifford wondered if she would be sad, and that thought made him frown. A strange feeling came to him, but he didn't know what he was feeling (Unpleasantness? :blobnom: Concern? :blobnom: Maybe a little happy because someone actually and sincerely cares about you as a person :bloblove: ?)

Former Celius then tells him to not be like Hugh. This made Clifford remember what Octavia said to him earlier. And, at that time, apparently, he had a silly question in his mind. What if he did actually do what Hugh-pain-in-ass did (I mean I wouldn’t hate you Clifford:meowsip: . I don’t even like Sill, and I know you can get the job done whereas Hugh-in-the-ass was kinda half-hearted). He wondered what Octavia would do then (Well, she’d slap you first of all, like she did with Hugh-in-the-ass :derpyblob: , and you won’t be able to be by her side anymore, though she might let you escape if you don’t land up in the dungeon again).

He then looked down at the black feather tassel on his sword which caught his eye. :blobhero:

As much as I love Clifford and his POVs, and I love this POV too, I was a little disappointed. Not because Douchebag was in here…. Okay, that’s part of the reason…but I think there was so much material that the author could have worked on. I really wanted to know about Clifford’s thoughts on the coffee and the horse scene. I was ecstatic about that. His mention of his feelings of discomfort with other people putting flowers in Octavia’s hair isn’t new news. We already knew that from the main story. And I seriously wanted to know, in detail, of Clifford’s thoughts of not being beside Octavia during the entire inspection and having someone else guard her as her knight. I would’ve loved it if they included his thoughts about he felt while he was forced to be Douche’s knight, which would’ve been a great comparison between him working for Octavia versus him working for someone else.

Overall, this volume 5 deserved two of Clifford’s POVs. Similar to volume 1 and 2. But now it’s been cut back to just one, and I hate it. The author had so much material to work with! They could’ve just added another POV.

I don't know how I can like, so much, a history in which I understand the plot so little. But it seems the heart wants what the heart wants.

@sovokop , you are an angel! :meowpuffymelt:

I just start to read this forum and there is still much to be read, so you guys could already have talked about that, BUT! I can't stop thinking about when, in manga chap 21, they said Sill's parents broke a taboo.
He is strong enough to face a Jyuu and he has a ring with the same Shuu's symbol that appeared in Octavia's hand.
Could Sill be the child of a Jyuu with their Shuu?:aww: Could the relationship between Shuu and Jyuu be taboo? :aww:
Or am I just imagining things because it would add a new layer of drama in Cliffitavia's relationship? :blobpopcorn_cool:
And more puzzling, could Cliffitavia be a bad name for a ship?:hmm:

    I see you're a person of culture. :blob_sunglasses: Respect.

    Thank you~~~~~~~~~ ::bloblove::

Yes, there is possibility of Sill being related to the Jyuu clan; probably his parents being Jyuu. Octavia noted that too. One of Sill's parent being a Shuu is highly probable. This is because I hypothesize that Clifford's first Shuu might be one of Shuu's parent as Clifford was once ordered to save Sill (remember, when Sill asked Clifford if he was the one who saved him and Clifford blatantly lied no lol). The order had to have been by someone who cared about Sill, otherwise why order Clifford to do something like that.

And Clifford definitelyyyy knows something. :blobcatthinkingglare:

Hah! Trust me, Window Sill is not gonna hinder Clifford and Octavia's relationship! :blobrofl: Window Sill is just Window Sill. He can never match against my Cliffy. He is important to know about Clifford's past, in my opinion, though.

    His boyfriend, Douchebag, though...:blobhero:

Never thought of a ship for those two before. I know one Japanese fan tweeted the ship name for Sirius and Sill as Serisil.

All I did was give nicknames to Clifford. Usually, it's Cliffy. And if I feel really excited (while staring at Cliffy's face :blobdrool: ); Clippy, Clippity, Clippy Wippy, Clippity Wippity. I have a problem hehe. :blob_blush:

I appreciate your efforts, though. :meowpats: But I don't think Cliffitavia fits :hmm: .

Octavia's nickname by her bestie is Via, so I guess CliffOVia? :hmm:
OctaCliff? :hmm: Put Octavia on top cuz she is the master heh heh :blobthinkingsmirk:
Octavord? :hmm: Low key rhymes with sword, which is what Clifford sees Octavia as (as a "I wanna keep her with me at all times" sense). :hmm:

If we use Octavia's past as Maki, it could've been Cliffaki. :hmm:

Volume 6 of the novel is coming out in August (in Japan) and will apparently deal with Octavia finally needing to present her "lover". And she doesn't have that many options...

The description also talks about it being a "climax", which is how they usually describe the final volume in Japan. So I'm not saying this is defintely the ending, but it could be.

Yeah I know and I'm so excited! :aww: Finally, some fresh Vitamin C!

But it's wrong to assume that it could be the ending because we still have waaaaaay too much plot and mysteries to unravel. Like who brainwashed Douchebag? What's up with Alexis's powers (and when is he coming back)? How sus is the king? Why is everyone trying to kill SIll (apart from him being a little doormat)? Why does Rusty look like that piece of shit that ruined Octavia/Maki's life? What about Clifford's past (I NEED TO KNOWWW!!!)? And what about Idearia's past with her Jyuu (I NEED TO KNOW THAT TOOOOOOO!!!!! Idearia X Jyuu, let's go)?????

Waaaaaay too much plot and mysteries to unravel :blobpopcorn_cool:

It could be the climax to Octavia and Clifford's relationship. I mean, rn, they're just a master and servant who gotten closer. But now, they'll get closer as girlfriend and boyfriend heh heh :blobtaco: . The moment that everyone (being me) is waiting for. So, it might be the end to "I gotta find me a fake boifriendo but whereeeee?" from Octavia in which her search narrows (AND ONLY NARROWS) to Clifford.

All in all.... that pretend kiss better become a real kiss~~~ :cookie:

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, my headcannon is like....
Octavia is scrying, with both knees on the floor, she hides her face in her matters. "Oh, Clifford, what am I going to do? I was lying, I don't have anyone."
Clifford, standing a few steps behind her, smiles to himself.
Octavia keeps explaining "It was just a lie to save face. I thought I would find someone to pretend to be my lover by now, but so many things kept happening that I didn't have time to find anyone! Am I not the most pathetic Shuu of all?"
Clifford knees beside her and pats her head. "Master, you are not pathetic, this kingly heirs system is."
Octavia lifts her head and, with her wet eyes, look at Clifford and asks, more surprised than doubtful. "Do you really think so?"
"Master, a Jyuu never lies to his Shuu." That makes her beam.
"Sorry, Clifford." His heart ached. She apologized to him, her Jyuu, again. "I wasn't doubting you, I just had never imagined that someone else would also think this kingly heirs system is not right."
Of course, that system had been unjust to all the princesses, but it infuriated him even more that it is burdensome to Octavia.
"Give me an order, master." He requested.
Still with her face covered by her tears, as if she had forgotten that they were there, Octavia asked confused, "Which order?"
"You said you need someone to act as your lover. Use me, I'm yours."
    :blobrose:

Honestly, I hope you're right. I was pretty surprised to see them calling it a climax when there is so much set-up in place but no actual answers yet.

My headcanon (among my various headfanons heh heh :blob_blush: ) be like:

Octavia: (thinking) hmm, who should my fake lover be? :hmm: (looking at the boiz)
Clifford: (Octavia-deprived for the last 3 volumes) my master's not giving me enough attention :blobwoah: . (to Octavia) whatcha doin :blobwoah: you can trust me :blobowoevil_horns:
Octavia: A... I... uh... wel.... :meowsleepless: okay, so like I bullshitted to my brother about my boyfriend so I now I need to find a fake one :blobconcerned: You know any guy? Hook me up :blobstare:
Clifford: :hmm: (thinking of possibility of another man coming in between them and probably taking over the protective role and trying to put flowers in Octavia's hair) :blobhyperthink:
Clifford: the feelings I have are because I'm influenced by my master as her Shuu :hmm:
Also Clifford: I know the perfect guy for you. Goes by Clifford Alderton. :blobthinkingsmirk:
*whispers of destiny begins to play in the background*

Octavia: So, like, I asked Guy to be my fake lover but he said no. :meowknife:
Clifford: huh? :blobstare: She asked him first? But not me? Why? She doesn't even know him that well. I've been by her side for so long. What, why do I care? It must be a shuu thing. It has to be. But wait, will this fake lover try to put flowers in her hair? :blobcat_hyper: That's my thing. Will he try to take over the protective role? Will she spend more time with him? I must be getting influenced by my master's desires... :blobstare:
    Octavia: You okay? :meowoh:
    Clifford: I do. meowglare
    Octavia: Huh? :meowtilt:
Clifford: ... I mean, I'll do it :blobconcerned:
    Octavia: Huh!?!? :blobconcerned:
*and they loved happily ever after*

Yeah, Octaffia just sounds weird. It just doesn't click either. Like my boy's name basically not there in the ship name. And no Clifford, no life. :blobpensivepray:

    BY THE WAY~~~~~~

Apparently there's a bonus comic of the manga.

"2 sheets front and back, P4 short story" to be precise.

I didn't know about it until I was browsing for Watago on the internet (mostly in an effort to find the colored version of vol. 1 of the manga, cuz Clifford (◕‿◕❀) ), and I found this site that was selling them. I need it because Clifford~~~ (◕‿◕❀)

    This is the preview.

IT'S FINALLY HERE!!! :blob_pompom: A chapter for vol. 6 of the LN has just been uploaded!!! :blobtaco: And it starts Alexis’ POV. About time. I thought I was gonna have to put up missing posters for the lost boy. :cookie:

Interestingly, this POV is in third, unlike his previous POV where it was in first person. The only other person whose POVs are in third is Clifford.

And since this was updated on a Saturday, I’m assuming that author will post updates of the LN on the weekends like they did with vol. 5 of the LN. I’m hoping so. :meowpuffyblush: :blobpensivepray:

Anyways, Alexis’s dreams have become more recurrent about King Us. He’s finally arrived to Tahen. A little note about Tahen, it’s a part of Esfia now and Tahen and Esfia were engaged in a long war during King Us’s time. From Alexis’s dreams, King US kills his older sister, Idearia, and becomes king. He was hostile towards the Jyuu warrior race, because he loathed the “Jyuu” (mtl rn is unclear if it’s the one hypothesized Jyuu that belonged to Idearia, but I’m going to say it’s him. By that fact, Us is pretty discriminatory meowglare ). Alexis wonders why King Us didn’t conquer Tahen, since, in his dream, Alexis didn’t see the final scene of the war over Tahen, although King Us was clearly winning but because of his huge number of soldiers or choices, regardless if his soldiers were inferior to the Jyuu in terms of fighting (I can only sense that a lot of soldiers died… and I think for a pointless reason ::blobcatsad:: . Those poor Jyuu ::blobcatsad:: . I repeat, King Us is discriminatory and stupid :blob_catflip: ). But I don’t get this questioning. Tahen was conquered, nonetheless. I’m personally interested in the reasoning behind the hatred that led to the war. :hmm:

Currently, Alexis is in the Tahen Castle, belonging to Earl Tahen. He and his family are absent, because the Council of Lords (Window Sill said something about the Council of Lords/Lords’ conference in his POV in vol. 4 of the manga when he met Lilyshana). I know that Lilyshana, who’s also part of the Tahen Earldom (if anyone remembers her from the semi-ball with the Jyuu, Emilio) was at the semi-ball. It’s nighttime and he calls his personal escort knight, Randall. Yup, they gonna explore the place at nighttime blob_crime . Alexis was in Tahen because his dad, King Bi- I mean Enoch, ordered him secretly, in which his order could also benefit Octavia. Alexis had more and more questions while in Tahen.

Alec stops at some wall and touches a certain part, in accordance to his dream. It opens, and Randal is surprised. Alec tells him it’ll close on its own when Randal looked back at it. Alexis was free to roam around the castle grounds of Tahen, even if the master was absent (since he was a prince), but he wasn’t allowed in one place only, even if someone was from the royal family. His grandpa, the previous king, and the current king approved of the secret (?).

The passageway that Alexis and Randall were walking in was dusty, showing that it wasn’t used. They kept walking until there was another wall (so many secret walls :blob_tilt: ), and again Alec touched a specific part and it opened. This time, though, he doesn’t know what’s ahead. The two were now a large, drab room with a high ceiling, with only furnishings; a large mirror and a rusty sword. It was “a Tahen sword with a characteristic ripple on the blade” (Clifford once revealed that an enemy's weapon was from Tahen, which also had a ripple pattern). And, unlike the dusty passageway, the room was clean, with an implication that it was likely Earl Tahen.

From vol. 4 of the manga.

Alexis went close to the sword, and tried to touch it. He didn’t touch it, but he saw a vivid scene. His surroundings changed and it was just him. He saw King Us with the same sword and he killed a person with it (someone keep swords away from this man :meowfacepalm: ). At first, I thought it was the sword that he used to kill Idearia with, but translation uses the word “otoko” which means man, so he killed a man (I also went back to the manga, and I didn’t see any ripple design on the sword he used to kill Idearia, so it’s not the same sword). He didn’t feel any regret at the corpse, but he was fed up (…. Who did you kill….). King Us thought that if he killed this man, something would change (… you did not :blobfrowning: …. :notlikemeow: .... You did not just kill Idearia’s Jyuu!?!? :blob_thor: ) but nothing happened (and how would it!?!? :blobcat_rawr: What is wrong with the men in the royal family!?!?!? :blobcat_rawr: ). Us had no more hope and he couldn't give up. He wondered what to do and audibly asked himself if Esfia could be destroyed. And then he thought, what is the king, a.k.a. himself, died, so he aimed the sword at himself. But then his hand trembles, and apparently, it was because of someone hand.

    A voice says that it’d be troublesome. (Siggggh. …. I’mma cuss. Cuz it’s this bitch :blob_thor: ).

Young man. Blonde hair. Amber eyes. Yyyyup. IT’S THAT FUCKER JERK THAT SENT PRECIOUS MAKI/OCTAVIA INTO ESFIA WITHOUT LITTLE CHOICE!!! :blob_thor: :blob_thor: :blob_thor:

Jerk says that the King of Esfia lived a long life (I think he means he’s going off by the original book meowglare , this piece of shit), and Us found it ridiculous because Idearia, the original ruler, was dead. But Jerk tells him not to shift the blame, because Us was the one who killed his dear sister and not act like the victim (I think). Unsurprisingly, Us is pissed. Jerk continues that it’d be a problem if Esfia was destroyed in a place like this. He says that the real thing/performance is still ahead (the climax? I dunno), he broke his promise to “Maki-chan” (first of all, fuck you Jerk piece of shit meowglare . Secondly, don’t use “chan” in her name, no ones like you meowglare . Thirdly, he means that he promised Maki that he won’t interfere in the world that Maki’s in, but he just did. I am greatly hypothesizing that he’s also the Sky god, because this bitch is untrustworthy meowglare ).

The jerk looks down the man that Us killed and actually said that “it was a live representative that I had prepared with much effort”. I’m literally disgusted. On the assumption that the dead man is Idearia’s Jyuu ::blobcatsad:: , I better see Jerk suffer. :blobcat_hyper:

Then I think he turned in a way that he was facing Alexis (hands off of him! :blobcat_rawr: ). I was confused about this part but he says that his reading was naïve because he never thought that (and again, I’m unsure) he never thought that they could kill/are killable? I don’t know. I guess, essentially, he means that they’re going off the script, like Us killing the guy and then trying to kill himself. Despite his words, he was in a good mood and applauded (you can tell he sees everyone and everything as a means of entertainment which is no surprise there since he saw Maki/Octavia as a bug :blob_thor: ). Alexis or King Us were biting too hard.

With a hand on his chest and bowing in an exaggerated gesture, Jerk says that he wants to express his sincere respect to him (Us), who went this far, exceeded expectations, and dragged Jerk along (Ugh). The Jerk never thought he would end up coming directly. (Oh, why not go directly to Clifford? I’m sure he’ll also exceed your expectations… with his sword in your guts :blobhero: ).

He then asked if Us wanted to destroy Esfia that much?

The last line of the chapter is ――Do you want to go against the happy ending? without any quotation marks. But I assume that its echoes the Jerk. Piece of shit thing to say. That’s like saying that toxic MLs and vulnerable FLs getting together is a “happy ending” because it’s the author’s original ending ::blobcatsad:: . Remove all morals because it’s entertaining.

… Granted I’ve got no right to say that because I crave suffering… BUT ONLY on the right (who are the wrong) people! Like Jerk! He must suffer!

I have a strong desire to go on uncharacterized territories. That’s right!

Write a gruesome fanfiction where Jerk suffers are someone else’s entertainment! :blobcat_rawr:

The author, Mamechoro, has been spoiling us with a total of three chapters in this weekend! ~ :aww: This is why I will remain a stan!~

    Anyways here's part 2 of Alec's POV.

Leaving from the last sentence ――Do you want to go against the happy ending? Alexis thinks a happy ending for whom (EXACTLY! THE READERS AINT HAPPY! coughcoughthereweretimesiwishedyouweredeadcougcough for example coughcough). Randall, Alexis's escort knight calls out to him and it snaps Alec back to reality. Randall says that someone's coming, and pulled out his sword while standing in front of Alexis. They weren't facing the hidden passage they came from but the original door to enter the room from. The footsteps meant that the it was one person only.

The door opens and Alexis tells Randall to wait as he realized the person's figure who was wearing a hooded cloak which he removed and holding a lantern. The person had brown skin and blond hair, and was actually Jarsch (romanji is Yārushu), the third prince of Valjean (Valjean is a different nation that was touched upon in vol 5 of the LN).

Jarsch had arrived after Alexis in the Tahen castle, apparently.

Jarsch states that it looked like they're both intruders and he had used a key to get in. He didn't think there was someone else here. Alexis asked where he got it from. He replies that looked for an opening from the servant (like when their guard was down) and he borrowed it (his words not mine :cookie: ). Alexis frowned silently. Then it was Jarsch's turn to ask how he got into the room since was only one key (that he had). Alexis deflects the question by saying her had no obligation to tell him. Jarsch just grinned and laughed, saying that they're both intruders. He stopped acting like a prince (like formal politeness and etiquette and all that jazz), and says that let's not be formal.

Then I think Jarsch went in front of the Tahen sword with the ripple pattern and stopped, as he observed it with interest while putting a hand on his chin. He asked Alexis if he knew what this room is, to which Alexis replied that he didn't know. Jarsch explains that Tahen used to be inhabited by many 'Jyuu', a warrior race, and it's said that the castle they're in was the place where the ceremony of the contract was held when the 'Shuu' received the 'Jyuu' (the Shirushi bond between a "shuu" and "jyuu", like Octavia and Clifford. Wait, but their contract took place in her room..... oh....ohhh.... :bloblenny: :bloblenny: :bloblenny:). According to the texts, it's the room with only one sword, so they room they were in (I suppose it was akin to knighting someone which you'd need a sword with :hmm: . Even when Clifford made a Shirushi bond with Octavia, he was on one knee on the floor at the time. Octavia didn't have a sword though.... but she had her hand! Hand-in-marriage, let's go! :bloblove: ).

Alexis says that there's also a mirror. And Jarsh just says that Alexis (who's 14) is five years younger than Jarsh, but he wasn't romantic. Alexis just looked at him coldly lmao, and asked that isn't it too careless for a prince of another country to act. Jarsch says that even if Alexis says that, Jarsch isn't participating in the succession dispute of his country, and has no intention of carrying Valjean on his back, I think it won't do much if there are any diplomatic issues arises, and his family would just be stunned (idk) :hmm: .

So apparently, Valjean's kings are allowed to practice polygamy (oh boi :sweating_profusely: ), in order to have more children (ohhh boiii :sweating_profusely: ). So the next king is decided by having the king's children compete against each other like the Hunger games (ohhhhhh boiiiiiiiiii :sweating_profusely: ). Gender and age aren't considered important, only their achievements. It's apparently unique method to Valjean, who has grown as a commercial nation (how is it unique? :blobwoah: do they mean that gender and age isn't important?). And, because of the horrific killings between members of the royal family (yyyyyyuuupppppp :blobwoah: ), an unwritten rule was established stating that bloody fights should not be fought (Huh? :blobunsure:). And Alexis wondered how much they're protected. Yeah no shit. In the chapter, apparently, even after withdrawing from the succession dispute, Jarsh's life was still targeted. Who said that "an unwritten rule was established stating that bloody fights should not be fought"!?!?!?!? Bitch, come forward!!! :blob_thor:

Anyway, Jarsch publicly declared his withdrawal from the battle for succession to the throne. He's an oddball who enjoys traveling and loves history (I think he'd be good friends with Octavia, but also read history for the BL, and Sisi, Octavia's, BFF, who loves traveling :cookie: ). He didn't even have an escort inside Tahen's castle. He can speak fluent Esfian (Octavia, in the beginning of her new life as Octavia, had issues understanding Esfian at first) and wanders alone. So he has the fighting ability to deal with danger on his own.

Jarsch is also knowledgeable of other countries' histories (so he knows the tea :meowcoffee: ), and must have researched stories related to Tahen's 'Jyuu' race. He'd prioritize curiosity over common sense. Alexis thought that, from his recurring dreams, King Us was also likely a bit similar before the sudden change (Us loved books more than the throne). That's why Alexis didn't like Jarsch (too bad, cuz he now ur bff :cookie:. I imagine Octavia saying "My lonely chunnibyou baby brother's finally met a friend :aww: (or a lover? :hmm:)" and Alec would just shudder at both :blobrofl: ).

Jarsh further states that if it's known that Alexis entered the place, then it'd be problematic for him too. Alexis retorts that he's Esfia's prince so the treatment of the royal family in his own country vs foreigners isn't the same.

There's also a difference in punishment between citizens and foreigners in Esfia :)blobwoah:). So, even if he's a prince, Jarsch's crime (of trespassing the room) will naturally weigh more (but what if he's on a PR? :hmm: Questions :blobowoevil:).

Jarsh deduces that Alexis doesn't want it to be known that he trespassed into this room so it's better if they pretend that they didn't know each other. Jarsh is doing this to satisfy his curiosity (his words) and will keep this to himself. He'll leave without any prying, and in return, Alexis will forget that he met Jarsch. And I guess Alexis agrees (something about too little to gain idk). Jarsch then gives him something, which apparently Alexis was notified of beforehand.

So, remember that, Alexis received two secret orders from Enoch. One was inspect Tahen and report everything he saw and heard (which we know). The other was to receive a sealed letter from Jarsch, who was planning to secretly visit Tahen.

I think Jarsch was supposed arrive before Alexis and co., but he was delayed and he had refused to hand over the sealed letter for any reason :hmm:. Alexis was worried about Octavia, so he was kinda impatient. He thought of resorting to hard-line measures. But, Jarsch handed over the sealed letter without hesitation. Alexis asked why now, and Jarsch replied that Enoch actually told Jarsch not to hand it over to Alexis immediately (sus :hmm: ).

Jarsch continued that it should've bought Alexis (or himself) enough time and Jarsch has fulfilled his duty. To him, it's not a bad deal if giving the sealed letter meant that tonight's encounter didn't happen. But Alexis was confused Enoch was buying himself (or Jarsch) time and not give it to Alexis right away. He wondered what it all meant (I WOULD LIKE TO STATE RIGHT HERE (if it's not clear already), to me, the most suspicious character in this series is Enoch :meowsipglare: . The pile of sussy plans of his are increasing :meowsipglare:).

Jarch theorizes that maybe it's meant to keep Alexis in Tahen as long as possible, or maybe not let him return to the capital of Esfia for a while. Alexis says that he talks like he's close with Enoch. He replies that Enoch has visited Valjean several times since he became king so he was familiar to him. But Alexis think that Jarsch is probably the only member of the Valjean royal family other than King of Valjean with whom Enoch has some kind of relationship (dw, Alec, Octavia also considers you as the only person close to her in the royal family :cookie: ). He thinks that Enoch likely expects that Jarsch will become the next king of Valjean (plz don't force ppl who don't want to be rulers of a country... to become rulers of a country … I'm so tired to narrative meowglare ).

Even after abandoning the right to the throne, Jarsch's brothers still warned him, and his life was targeted many times. There's a story about a prince who turned a barren land he was entrusted with into a production area for special products. It's unclear which prince, but it was never credited to Jarsch, so it's possible was that prince (or could not be, as well, it's just an assumption). Jarsch likes to travel because it's much safer than being at home (now that's just sad :blob_teary: ). Because he doesn't allow the guards from his own country to come near this castle, it's possible for him to walk alone late at night like this. But Alexis does wonder if history loving trait is just an act (love to have him and Stain meet... their both eccentric but cunning characters :cookie:).

Anyways, Alexis asks about the obligation, but Jarsch just deflects the question, meaning he doesn't want to answer. So instead Alec tells him that if his curiosity is satisfied, return to his room, while Alexis finally takes the envelope. Jarsch says to let him investigate a little more and wandered around the room. Alexis returned back to the sword (which was apparently stuck in a stone platform. King Arthur? :blobwoah: ).

Jarsch asked Alexis if the sword was used by a 'Jyuu', and if this room a ritual room or not (didn't you already answer the latter question :blobwoah: or were you trying to make small talk :blobowoevil:). But Alexis says it doesn't matter (Alec, bby, this is why u have no friends). He thinks back to his daydream earlier, though, and wondered who was that the man, aka Jerk, who asked Us if he really wanted to destroy Esfia? (he's the reason for your sister's death and PTSD :blobhero: ). He wondered what did Us say after that, but Alexis had a guess. If it was King Us, and even Alexis, he's sure―― (yeah, he trails off from there, but basically it's yes to the kingdom's destruction).

Alexis had a strange feeling, which he also felt on the day of his departure to Tahen.

Then an image of Sirius popped into his mind ( :blobfrowning: ). And it was much younger Sirius ( :blobfrowning: ).

Meanwhile, Jarsch was worried about him, and told Alexis to look in the mirror. He does. And he notices that the color of his eyes changed to amber. :blobfrowning:

Okay, okay, okay! :blobphone: Now begins the chapter with Octavia, meaning we'll get Clifford! :blob_pompom: Let's go! :blobtaco:

The chapter begins with Octavia asking a brown-hair guard to repeat what he just said because she thought she heard it wrong. The guard repeated that Hugh(pain-in-the-ass) Roberts was been transferred and wasn't in the dungeon. Octavia was surprised.

Hugh-pain-in-the-ass's motives were before former Celius (before being brainwashed) ordered him to stop him if he ever tried to get same-sex partner like the former kings. It makes me think, so is Sirius gay or not? :hmm: But someone interfered so now he is? :hmm:

Blah blah blah she feels bad for him blah blah blah no one cares blah blah blah. Now where's Cliffy? :aww:

When she was thinking a lot of things (can't blame her), she had decided to go to the dungeon again the next day. So in the morning she got up and dressed super fast, and when Clifford came to her room to greet her in the morning :blobmelt: ( :blobmelt: there he is~), she left immediately. She was apparently trying to visit him a third time, but well when she went to the dungeon, she was just informed that he was transferred (good riddance, I say :blob_catflip: ).

She recomposed herself and asked where he was transferred to, but the guard didn't know. So she asked what's the reason for the sudden transfer. He doesn't say, but the other people who were caught yesterday (who were involved in targeting Window Sill) were still imprisoned.

So apparently the order was by Enoch. To transfer only Hugh-pain-in-the-ass. I repeat. Enoch is the most sussy character. meowglare

Octavia was deep in her thoughts, when suddenly Clifford's low voice says freeze ( :blobnosebleed: my bag is dropped~ ). Clifford pointed his longsword at the guard, who stiffened with his hand on the chest of his uniform. I can't help but feel like Clifford's gotten more protective :blobmelt: . I mean he already was, especially when Clifford stood in front of Octavia when Derek was coming to them at the semi-ball the first time. But after Clifford returned by Octavia's side, he was on guard against Edgar's dad, tho he was pretty mad so it's understandable why Cliffy's alarm would go off. I can't help but think that Clifford suffering from Vitamin O :blobthinkingsmirk: . Or maybe I'm just suffering from Vitamin C and becoming delusional :derpyblob: .

Octavia doesn't believe that Clifford would pointlessly keep him in check (and that's why we love him :blobxd::blobmelt: ). She wondered if it's because Clifford assumed that it was suspicious act to try to take something out. So she ordered the guard to take out whatever was in pockets (loved how she took Cliffy's side of having the guard empty his pockets instead of telling Clifford to calm down :bloblove: ). The royal family and escort knights are basically not inspected for entering the dungeon.

Not that it matters... but she wondered if the breast pocket had been remodeled, cuz it seemed like you can put a lot of things in it unexpectedly .... and all I can of is... Clifford. :blobnosebleed: :blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed: (I'm Vitamin C deficient, don't judge me). :blobthinkingsmirk:

Though, where are the breast pockets on that uniform? Do you have to put your hands on the inside? In that case... Clifford :blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed:

Anyways, the guard put all the items on a table. The first item was a small dagger. As soon as that was put down, Clifford lowered his sword, so Octavia deduced that that's why Clifford's warning sensor went off (how'd he know the guard only had one dagger? :blobfearful: that's some intuition, Cliffy). With that movement, the tufts of feathers of the Rev bird swayed, and Octavia's yes fell on the decorative tassels for some reasons before returning her gaze back to the table (I'll tell you the reason :bloblenny: you're proud that he's using your gift :bloblenny: which also matches your fan :bloblenny: ).

There were also some wrapped candies, including the staple of Esfia's sweets called Iba. (I demand that Octavia give Clifford a candy every now and then). Iba was mentioned in the previous volume too. It doesn't actually exist, but it's apparently a cake or pastry that has "flour paste and candy, and it looks like cheese" (I'm trying to rack my brain, but I just don't know what it's inspired from :blobconfused:. Wait... is it cupcake with cream cheese and candy toppings????) Octavia also wanted some share of the candy but it's hard to get it because there might be something inside it I think (I demand that Clifford give Octavia a candy every now and then). Octavia assumed the guard had a sweet tooth (nah, when you're really busy with something, chewing or sucking on some candy can be helpful. I suppose it has to do with the sugar).

Finally, the third time was a folded paper, which is what the guard wanted to give her.

Apparently, the guard put the letter in the same place as the dagger so he wouldn't lose it, but he never tried to take out the dagger (ah, so that explains that. So much for my Cliffy becoming more protective theory....). (Edit: But wait, according to the chapter, guards keep at least one hidden weapon on their person, like Hugh-pain-in-the-ass. And if that's a generalization, then that means all the guards the Octavia has encountered have kept a hidden weapon. Which means the Clifford has become more protective!!! :aww::aww::aww::aww: Marriage arc, let's go!!!! :bloblove::bloblove::bloblove: )

She wondered if the letter was from Hugh-pain-in-the-ass but wondered if the guards keep letters from the prisoners being transported.

She opened the paper the first words written were "To Octavia" .... in Japanese :blobfearful: .

The only person to know Japanese apart from Octavia was Alexis, but Alexis wasn't in the castle, so it couldn't have been from him. A Japanese fan on Twitter says that it's from Siriusly-a-Douchebag. Which is the likely answer because he did say that he had a peek at Octavia's "Esfia" and "Japanese" language correspondence table when they were young (Octavia had issues learning the Esfian language at first, so she made that table)

At this point, maybe some of you may be asking, "Sovokop, can you stop the thirst comments over Clifford, even when he's just standing there?" meowglare To which I'd like to say
No :meowknife: and there is no skip button for it either :meowcoffee: .

Guuuyyysss, Mamechoro uploaded another chapter :meowyaranaika::blobpensivepray:. I am grateful :blobpensivepray: .

So yeah, the letter was from Douchebag, or rather former Celius.

Sigh, because there's a lack of Clifford, :blobpopcorn_two: I'm just gonna summarize the letter (because I'm here for Cliffy :meowsadlife: ).

So, Douchebag, as former Celius, wrote that Octavia should probably know by now he's partially amnesiac, but he managed to temporarily regain his memory at night (on the night he talked to Clifford in his POV in LN vol. 5). He says that there are two possible reasons for this, but he's got no conclusive proof, so he'll refrain from writing about it here (you're so annoying :blobpopcorn_two: Octavia could've checked if those reasons are accurate for you :blobpopcorn_two: . I hate men like this. "I'll only tell you when I've got evidence", get outta here :blob_catflip:). The important thing (his words, not mine ) is the fact that Celius regained his memory, and he was the one who gave Hugh that order (to stop Celius if he ever went gay lmao). That's why he couldn't punish Hugh-pain-in-the-ass, I think. He also says that because he'll soon forget his memories, he won't be able to defend him even if brainwashed Douche would believe Hugh's words, because the memories serve as proof. So, he decided to move while he still had the memories, and talked to Enoch about Hugh's treatment. That's why Hugh was transferred to another location so Octavia shouldn't feel bad for Hugh (I, for one, don't. I still felt bad when you put my Cliffy in prison! :blob_catflip: ). He wrote the letter in case Octavia acted to help Hugh-pain-in-the-ass. He further tells her that she doesn't have to bear the brunt (Clifford also gives her motivational words like that, so you lose :blobsleepless: ). He says that if there's one point of concern, it's what he, who doesn't remember, will do (yeaaaaahh, that is worrying.... meowglare). He wishes that he didn't do anything stupid, but he can't say he won't (too late for that :blob_thor: ). And when he thinks about himself up until now, that's all he's worried about :)blobconcerned: the English reading fans hate you). He does apologize, and tells her that if there's something that causes her trouble, do it back as much as she wants. He says that he'll do everything he can on the night he temporarily remembered this memories but he was unable to meet her which was a shame. He informs her that he did meet Clifford (Cliffy's POV in LN 5) and he was too optimistic to think that he still had time to spare. But he realized that even if he went to meet her at night, she'd have been asleep. He asked if she no longer had any nightmares (her traumatic nightmares from her death as Maki), and he hoped so. He ends with hoping that the next time he'll be able to meet her would as himself (former non-brainwashed Celius) instead of a letter (yeah, that's not gonna be happening anytime soon :meowsipglare: ) .

Octavia feels sentimental and calls from the formal "Aniue" to the more intimate "Oniichan".

How sweet..... until re-read vol.1and all his other screw ups. :blobcat_hyper: Let's not forget him cornering her to show her lover which caused her panic and stress about trying to find a fake lover :blobcat_hyper: . Let's also not forget that the synopsis for this volume is Octavia remembering that she needs to find a fake lover and time is running out. And you just know Douchebag is gonna ruin the sweet image made by this letter. It's only a matter of time. :meowsipglare: Am I being cynical? yes :meowsipglare: Should I stop? maybe... when Douche stops being a douche :meowtihihi: :meowtihihi: :meowtihihi:.

Anyways, she decides to go to Enoch for answers.

She looked up to Clifford (I also look up to him :aww:), and tells him that she decided where to go next (his place, jk, but I wanna :blobdrool: :blobnosebleed:). He asks where she'd like to go (his place, jk, but let us meet your family, Cliffy :blobmelt:). And she replies to the King's office.

I feel tired these days so I haven't posted spoilers yet although there are quite a lot of updated chapters out (Praise to Mamechoro).

But the next sample cover for volume 6 of the light novel is out!~~~:aww: It's so good~~ Mostly because it has Clifford in it :blobnosebleed:

I have to say, Octavia's orange dress look gorgeous. This dress and the one in vol. 4 are my favs. As gorgeous as it is, I'm really glad that it's not over the top. It's beautiful yet also has a simplistic feel to it. Or maybe that's just me? :blobmelt: Also love the hair ornaments in her hair. It really pops but also it's not overdone by having the tiny ornament all over her hair, and just around her hair bun. Also super happy that it's not butterfly hair ornaments (cuz that's just overused now).

And Cliffy~~ :aww: As always, he's in his cool and modest uniform. Seriously, he's just a breath of fresh air from all the other MLs in their royal/regal attire, even if the ML is a knight. I mean, you know what they say about men in uniform, right :blobnosebleed: ? Clifford is the standard~~.

Although, I am a little disappointed that there's no background illustration, like in vol. 5 of the LN. I wonder why the illustrator backtracked?

Also.....:meowpuffyhuh: Is it me or does Clifford's face look like it's been drawn a different illustrator? Of course it's by the same illustrator, Mitsuya Fuji, for all the other volumes of the series, but I've noticed that the illustrator kinda draws Clifford a little differently in each cover. I suppose changes are likely to happen to a drawing, though I can't say much since I'm not someone who draws or can draw (but I'm hoping to learn to draw chibi Clifford).

Of course, I am by no means shading or criticizing the illustrator. I love their drawings of Clifford as much as I love Yoneda Kazusa's drawing of Clifford (okay maybe not as much because Yoneda Kazusa is a manga artist so they would evidently have more drawings of Clifford than the LN illustrator, plus I love the way Yoneda Kazusa draws Clifford... if you get what I mean :blob_blush: (dude they draw a shirtless Clifford, who can top that? :meowsleepless:)). It's just something I've noticed. I only hope that the LN doesn't screw me over by having two or less than two illustrations meowglare , like they did in vol 5 of the LN :blob_thor: . And if those illustrations don't have Clifford, I'm starting a Twitter feud :blob_thor::blob_thor::blob_thor: .

Also can Octavia's hand heal already? :blobconfused: She got injured in vol 3 and the wound is still there till vol 6. Now I'm starting to worry. :blobconfused: Of course, while it's volumes for us, it'd be, what, 2 days in the novel? 2 weeks? I don't know. I'm not calculating lol.

It's been soooo long and I've been sleepy for the past few days (6 hour classes should be banned, how did I even survive school? :blobwoah: ). But now things are fine...ish.... There's been a bunch of chapter updates!~~~:aww: Bless, Mamechoro-sama~~~ They said that they'll post a chapter everyday for July, which makes sense since vol. 6 will be released on 12th August which is just around the corner, buuuut they've actually been updating one day, and then nothing the next day, and then posting. But hey no complaints. Only complaints, I need Cliffy fanservice. :blobnosebleed:

Also here's a disclaimer, where there's Cliffy, there's me being thirsty :bloblenny: .

So Octavia's trying to go to Enoch's office to know about Hugh-pain-the-ass's whereabouts.

On one that very day, Octavia realized she wore shoes with high heels, so her feet hurt. This is a very important detail and you'll know why (well, you might already know what's about to go down :bloblenny:).

She was walking past the corridor where the Sky god is painted. People who see it for the first time admire it, but she realizes that there was one person who was unresponsive, and of course she looks at Clifford, who was walking in front of her (so she had a view of his back :blobnosebleed:). Remember, Clifford doesn't like the sky god judging from his reactions, and it was noted that he actually he felt discomfort at the Sky god's painting in the corridor. Anyways, Octavia noted that Clifford didn't react when he passed through the Grand Corridor for the first time since he became Octavia's knight about three months ago, but of course, she also noted that she didn't eve remember Clifford's name at that time.

She also recalls his reaction when she said it was "a message from the sky" (when he wanted to know why she chose him as her guard), and their conversation when he rolled the dice at the quasi-ball (where Clifford said that Octavia didn't get 3, which a number associated with the sky god (which would've picked him as her dance partner at the semi-ball) because the sky god didn't like him, not Octavia (since she simply uttered that she didn't get chosen because the sky god hated her), but in reality the die was tampered with), so she wondered if Clifford had something to do with the Sky god (yes, but I don't know what. Maybe the Sazah religion since I just realized that I don't know what they worship :hmm:).

She wondered if he disliked the corridor where the sky god was painted.

She also wondered if the sky god was a gimmick left by that jerk playing god. (I have a great feeling that it is :blob_thor:).

Clifford, who was walking in front, looked back at her because she suddenly stopped (yes, notice your future waifu :blobmelt:). Octavia then remembered Douchebag's (well, former Celius') letter where he informed her that he met Clifford in the Grand Corridor (this was in Clifford's seventh POV in vol.5). She thinks that Clifford is under no obligation to report it to her (of course, he is :blobpopcorn_two: he's your husbando :blobpopcorn: . That and well, he's a knight and Jyuu who's sworn absolute loyalty to her, and he met up with the guy who's hostile to her so he should inform her about that, unless he think it's different because he talked to former Celius and not Douche :hmm:). But she wanted him to answer her properly, and since no no one was around, she told Clifford that she had a question for him (and it was will you marry me :aww: I'm kidding it wasn't that :blobcheeky:). Clifford's (gorgeous :blobnosebleed:) deep blue eyes were gazing at her as he kept an optimum distance for a guard knight (fuck that, come closer Cliffy :blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed:).

    She asked. “…………”

    And he replied. “…………”

:blobxd: No joke. They were silent. Octavia then wondered if she was a little nervous against Clifford (I think she was also a little surprised). So Clifford asked what was it that she wanted to ask him. Octavia felt like turning her back to Clifford and start running (you're welcome to try, but he'll just run after you lol :blobmelt: No joke, in the LN when Octavia secretly cried at the semi-ball, she took a step back from Clifford and he didn't like it and internally thought that don't run away :blobmelt::blobnosebleed::bloblove:).

She recalled yesterday (which was the last chapter in vol 5 where they both had tea in her room and Clifford initiated a hug :bloblove:), and think that she showed Clifford's considerable disgrace (nah, Cliffy would definitely find it precious :bloblove:). She was even thinking of trying to stroke Clifford's head (and why didn't you!!!??!?! :blob_catflip: He deserves a pat-pat, or, rather, many pat-pats especially after all the shit he's been through for the past two volumes. My man when to prison and was treated like criminal! :blobcurse:).

She is happy that Clifford's sword had that tassel she gave him; a black tuft of Rev bird feathers. So basically they match now because she had a fan made of black feathers... but let me tell you secret :bloblenny: His previous red tassel was already matching the red ribbon on her fan~~~~~~:bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::aww::aww::aww::aww::aww::blobmelt::blobmelt::blobmelt::blobmelt::blobmelt::blobmelt:

So she's feeling a little embarrassed (well I'd say she's just shy lol :bloblove:) and wants to run away (the only time you better run is to elope... with Clifford :blobstare:).

And she's engrossed in her thought, it was Clifford who took a step forward (my man taking the initiative! :aww: I stan! I stan!). He seemed a little dubious and verbally noted on the way she walked (omg, he noticed her pain because of the high heels~~~~~~ :blobnosebleed:). Octavia realized his words as she completely forgot that she wore high heeled shoes. So her leg hurts and she was about to fall. But Clifford held her hand with his right hand and supported her lower back with his left hand :bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove:

It reminds me of these scenes when he caught her before she fell~~~~.

He tells her to please be careful (what's there to be careful about when you're there Cliffy~~:blobmelt:). There was a hint of concern in his dark blue eyes (hint? there was a pool full of concern when it comes to Octavia! :blobxd:). She was kinda hating herself (no, savor this moment :blobstare: because I definitely will :blobstare: who know when, after this, will we have Cliffy moments? :blobstare:). She thanks him and feel like a useless "shuu" (Clifford could care less, so stop worrying and savor it :blobstare:).

At a close range, Clifford looked down at her feet and then looked up at her. He tells her that a little while ago, she was walking in such a way as to protect one leg (basically limping. when you're not used to high heels, that's how you walk. ah, the pain of high heels, even if they look kinda cool:blobneutral:). She says is that so, and Clifford nodded firmly that yes, just a little. :blobmelt: He asks if her leg was injured and apologized for noticing it too late (I need a man like this :aww:). Octavia thinks that noticing this was better enough.

And then... she saw it. The illusion of a large dog with drooping dog ears!!!! It's sad puppy Cliffy agaiinnnnn!!!! :aww::aww::aww:

She's basically like it'll be fine, but Clifford tells her if she keep walking, it'll get worse (so caring :bloblove:). She thinks of the aristocratic women who at balls and quasi-balls while wearing high-heeled shoes, and enduring the pain of blisters while chatting and dancing (sweetie, they're used to it because they wear it often :blobneutral: you don't.). Clifford then ask if they should immediately check the status of the injuries. Octavia defends that it's not an exaggerated injury. Clifford basically ignored her claim :aww:. I can't help feel like he's gotten more protective ever since her injury at the semi-ball, so he's not gonna believe her if she says she's fine :bloblove:. He's gotten even more caring than usual~~ :aww:.

There were some chairs lined up at the end of the large corridor because the castle's big so it's for a short break. She basically gave up and pointed to check the leg's condition by the chairs. Clifford agreed and said... that he'll carry her!!!!! :aww::aww::aww::aww::aww::aww::aww: And then he picked her up!!!!!!!!!! :bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove:

Octavia was obviously confused while Clifford just walked with her in his arms :bloblove: She sent him a protesting gaze, and said that she can walk by herself. Clifford just replied that, as he said earlier, it will get worse if she walked by herself (Oh, Clifford is being a little disobedient and I'm loving it :blobnosebleed:). He says that it's not a situation where she should force herself to walk so she should use him :)blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed:). He then glanced at her bandaged left hand, and said that he feels that Octavia injuries are slow to heal (I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed :blobneutral: like she got injured in vol. 3, and we're now on vol. 6 :blobsleepless:. But Clifford's worries for Octavia was just too adorable :blobsmilehappyeyes:. He used to listen to whatever she said, but now he's actually taking some initiative to ensure Octavia's health and safety, going as far as to talk back~~ :aww:).

She noticed that the wound on her left hand, was open and realized that that's why he was so worried. But she also knew what Clifford meant, that a princess' injuries and poor physical condition should not be taken lightly as Enoch pointed out (pretty sure, Clifford doesn't mean you as a princess, but you as a person where being a princess just happened to be a part of your identity, as Clifford once acknowledged that both the crying Octavia and the perfect princess Octavia were equally precious :bloblove: . Of course.... because Clifford is very clever who can take advantage of an opportunity if it comes his way (just like how he became her Jyuu) he might have insinuated that a princess' injuries are important so that Octavia can stop protesting and get treated :blobthinkingsmirk:. At the same time, Clifford did not insinuate that a princess' injuries are important, just that her healing is slow, so Octavia concluded that on her own lol. :blobsmirk:)

And the reason she can't push through this is because the opponent is Clifford (who is being adamant about her getting treatment :blobmelt::blobmelt::blobmelt: I love him so much~~~~~~~~). She thinks that he's performing the duty of an escort knight by responding to the possibility of an injury (yes.... but mostly no :blobowoevil:).

She thinks that it's her own fault for ignoring her pain. So she relaxed and put her hand around Clifford's neck :blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed: . She tells Clifford to carry her to that chair. He replies understood.

ANNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDD Octavia wondered if it was her imagination that Clifford answered with a slightly satisfied look!!!!~~~~~~~~~:aww::aww::aww::aww::aww::aww::aww::blobmelt::blobmelt::blobmelt::blobmelt::blobmelt::blobmelt::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove:

He is acting like a sweet husband at this point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove:

So Octavia's sitting on the chair (Cliffy won :blobmelt:) and Clifford was kneeling on one knee :aww::blobmelt: . Octavia's left foot was starting to get blisters (first, it was her left hand that got injured and now her left foot. :blobunsure: As a leftie myself, I'm just like what kind of conspiracy is this? :blobunsure:). Clifford politely removed the shoe from her left foot (Opposite of Cindrella~~? :aww: Who needs a prince charming when you have a knight in shining~? :aww:). Octavia wondered why it was so embarrassing to have someone take your clothes off when you can do it yourself (girl he was taking off your shoe, not your clothes :blobwoah: you dirty minded gurl, u getting conscious of Cliffy :blobsmilehappyeyes:). Clifford furrowed his brows at the sight of her blisters :)bloblove:), and Octavia asks it's not a big deal, is it. She didn't feel like running away anymore (well, you couldn't have gotten far with your foot injury lol :blobpopcorn:), but she couldn't stand Clifford's silence, so she talked. Clifford looked up at her. Even though his face almost expressionless, she wondered if he was like in the sky room at the semi-ball when she injured her hand deliberately. But she thought that that was intentional while this was not. Clifford replied that it needs treatment (who's ready to bet that if Octavia every got a paper cut, Clifford would go high and low just to find a bandage lol :blobxd:).

There were other things that Octavia wanted to say, but she swallowed it, and said that she understood. She had to go to the castle's doctor to get treated, but wondered if Clifford would hold her while they were moved to their destination since Clifford opposed to her walking on her own (so just let him carry you~~ :blobnosebleed: Everyone's already seen him carry her all the way to her room, lol :blobmelt:)

No matter what, she had to to got Enoch's office ASAP, so it would take a while to go to the doctor's room and then go to the office (cuz the castle is huge I guess). If she had to choose, she would ask a doctor to come and treat her her, so she told Clifford if he could ask the guard at the entrance to call someone. For a moment, Clifford showed hesitation (of course, he does. He doesn't like being apart from waifu~~~~ :blobmelt:). He looked around corridor while still on one knee, and Octavia notices that no one was there so it was perhaps confirmation of her safety. Then, Octavia sensed that "perhaps there was something only Clifford could understand", and Clifford's hesitation disappeared. He told her he was going and to please wait a moment, as he stood up (I hate seeing you leave but I love watching you go~~~~~:blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::bloblenny::bloblenny::bloblenny::bloblenny::bloblenny: Where's the fanservice? :blobstare:).

While that exactly what Octavia asked for, she called out Clifford's name annnddddd attempted to grab his uniform with her hand :aww:. Her hand was raised halfway unconsciously (unconsciously she realized that... she hated seeing him leave but loved watching him go :blobnosebleed:). She lowered her hand, wondering why she called him called. Clifford got down on one knee in front of her again and asked if she had any other business.

She felt that the feeling was similar to the feelings she felt at the row of Carram trees (for anyone who doesn't know or forget, in vol. 5, Octavia and co went to town for an inspection. She was walking by a row of Carram trees, which are similar to the the cherry blossom trees of her native country so it sort of sparks her grief. While there, she actually recalls a dream of the cherry blossom and saw the illusion of someone who's attire and voice did not match anything in her home country. It was actually Clifford, who, in his own dream in his sixth POV in vol. 4, saw a dream of Octavia's home country and family as Maki (they basically shared dreams, it's beautiful). Clifford was comforting a grieving little Octavia, and was about to wipe her tears until he woke up. She doesn't know that it was Clifford, but the feeling from that time is similar to this time).

Clifford, who was one knee (he wasn't proposing, sadly :blobsad:), as was looking at her. She felt a sense of déjà vu (it was basically the scene where Clifford had knelt down in front of little grieving Octavia in his dream, so that's where the deja vu comes from). She then wonders if that person in her dream who basically comforted her was Clifford, but I think she thinks that there shouldn't be such a thing (like in the sense of entering her dream, seeing her true past, her true self and her true feelings, rather that it being impossible for him to comfort her because he has comforted many times, from when she had a panic attack at the semi-ball, to giving her a hug when she was feeling kinda blue).

Anyways she didn't know what to reply.

There's also an inclusion of Octavia showing her youngest child temperament as Maki (since Maki the youngest child in her real family) to Clifford in the last two chapters of vol. 5:aww:. I've said it once, and I'll say it again, the ending better be Octavia going back to her original world as Maki with Clifford :blobhero:.

She finally says that she remembered she hadn't asked him a question yet As if waiting for her question, Clifford's dark blue eyes looked up at her. She says that the letter she received (from former Celius) says that Clifford met with Douche in the corridor. And he acknowledges that he did, as if nothing happened. She asked what they talked about, but he didn't need to say it if it's something personal.
Octavia couldn't honestly imagine a private conversation between former Celius and Clifford.... And, just then, Clifford hits us first with the "you brother asked me to become his subordinate" (OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! ::blobpeaking::::blobpeaking::::blobpeaking::::blobpeaking:: He's throwing him under the busssssssss!!! I love this!!!!!! :blobxd::blobxd::blobxd::blobxd::blobxd:). Suffice to say, Octavia is surprised. She thinks back to when Enoch first asked how she'd feel if he took away Clifford away from her, and now former Celius wanted to take Clifford (but we won't let 'em! :blobhero:). She asked Clifford how did he answer. She trusts him and knows the answer already, but she basically wants confirmation :blobxd::blobsmilehappyeyes: (I know that feeling!). Clifford said he declined :bloblove:. Octavia was a little happy, and states that he's her my escort knight, and with a nod and looking straight up at her, he says yes :bloblove::bloblove::bloblove:.

She then cleared her throat (feeling shy, are we? :blob_blush:). She asked if former Celius said something about Hugh-pain-in-the-ass. Clifford says not to him (well, technically, they did talk about about Hugh-pain-in-the-ass but nothing about his whereabouts that Octavia wanted to know). She wondered aloud why former Celius was in this corridor, because apparently he doesn't use this corridor and usually uses hidden passages inside the castle (I guess it's done subconsciously since it was in this corridor that he got brainwashed).

Clifford makes a statement that Douche/former Celius seemed to be thinking. I think she asked if Clifford what he was thinking, and he replied not all of them, So she asks to let her know if there's anything that Clifford would like to tell her.

But then unexpectedly, Clifford asked her if she was really okay with that. She replies that she doesn't mind. And he asked even he hides a story with some kind of intention (is it a sexy intention? :hmm::blobthinkingsmirk:). He goes on to say that he have malice or an intention to deceive her (if you did, you would've done so already :blobwob: Who are you fooling? Yourself?). Octavia replies that she, first of all, trusts Clifford, and doesn't think that he will deceive or betray her.

Clifford gives a wry smile. He says that he honored, but but she should think of it as a possibility. He says what if (basically to give an example situation), but Octavia finishes his sentence that what if something like that happened (which would be being betrayed), and he nodded and said yes.

Sighhhhhhh. meowglare Now you all know I love Clifford. Okay, I'm obsessed this fictional guy. But this part of being like you shouldn't trust because I could be bad, I don't likey. It's one of those generic lines the scary/cold/brooding/mysterious MLs spew to the FLs love (and I mean a lot). And, realistically, when a guy says that, you listen and run the other way. So why would u say that, Cliffy? :meowsadlife: Of course, Clifford has his reason for saying that... but before I explain further I believe it might be a good time to mention this since I read an interesting article on narcissist by a counsellor.

    https://www.amaliah.com/post/64205/men-narcissism-red-flags-watch-out-for-dating

"Some narcissists will even be honest and admit to people that they aren’t the best of people, to free themselves from the inevitable pain they will cause them, only to be surprised to see them stay and “help them” become better people. This is a common behavior trait found in high-level co-dependents who have a strong need to prove their worth, be the hero and feel important."

And I am by no mean saying that Clifford is a narcissist. I repeat, Clifford is not a narcissist. He has clearly not shown any of the signs of being a narcissist, such as extreme arrogance, strong sense of entitlement, moving very fast into relationships, bullying, offensive jokes that feel like personal attacks, and so on. But these kind of signs are frequent in a lot manhwa I see, though some readers are quick to point out the red flags. However, because of our sympathetic nature, we often see MLs with sad pasts who internalize the bad and become bad, thus hurting others. We feel sad for them and some of us try to justify their cruelty, especially on innocent ppl, particularly the FL who often have a messiah complex of trying to understand a guy with too much baggage who does little to work on himself.

And it's important to inform people about these types of things, especially if you're a woman/girl.

Anyways, giving Cliffy the benefit of the doubt, I believe said that because there's been too much going on around Octavia. From Sill being kidnapped and her having to having him which resulted in her self-injury, to helping Clifford get released from prison, to her brother being brainwashed thus being potentially a threat. Octavia literally can't catch a break. Basically, Clifford could've felt that she's too trusting, and people might take advantage of her. So she should be doubtful of ppl in order to protect herself

The irony is, that while Clifford tells her to not be to trusting, in the earlier chapter of the series, Octavia's casual statement of trusting Clifford, surprised him so much that he, right there and then even willfully became her Jyuu. In his first POV, he states that while her trust in him made her seem strange, it's why she was his Shuu. Moreover, when Octavia was crying at the semi-ball and took a step back, he didn't like and thought that she shouldn't run away from him. I should also add that Clifford said she should rely on more instead of taking things herself when she injured herself. Basically.... this is gonna come back and haunt Clifford. :blobrofl::blobrofl:

Anyways, Clifford's dark blue eyes stared straight at Octavia, and Octavia actually never even thought about it, since Clifford, as a 'Jyuu', would never lie to her, his 'Shuu'. Of course, Octavia noted that just because one doesn't lie doesn't mean there's no way around it (but Clifford can straight up lie :blobspy:). She tries to wonder if Clifford has been mean to her, deceived her or betrayed her (such a thing is blasphemy). She wondered if she would get mad, sad, and be unable to forgive.

She wonders if it's because she become a "shuu", and tells him that she believes she can tolerate betrayal (Huh? :blobsleepless:). As she puts into words like this, her thoughts gradually come together, and goes on that maybe for her, trusting someone is about how much she can tolerate (HUH!? :blobangry2:). She says that the problem is not the other person's actions, but yourself, if something like that happens, she'll accept it since she's the one who decided to believe (HUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHH!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!? :blob_catflip::blob_catflip:). Clifford asked wouldn't she think that what he believed was wrong, and she replied that she didn't think so, and one you decide to believe, the outcome doesn't matter(stoppp!!!!! :blob_catflip:). Clifford asks if it's because her belief include betrayal, and she says yes and says that she doesn't mind if Clifford hides the conversation with former Celius from her with some kind of intention. (I give up:blobsleepless:).

Before I continue, what the FUCK!? What's with generic white lotus, mary sue, messiah complex FL!? :blob_catflip: First Clifford, now Octavia! Clifford, I can understand, but what's you excuse for the bullshit line!?!?!? :blob_catflip::blob_catflip::blob_catflip::blob_catflip::blob_catflip:

Listen, listen, listen. This could've worked. Octavia could've made it work with her reply to Clifford's I'm might betray you line. It would involve bullying Cliffy a little, but it's okay, it's a little and by the FL, which I can forgive. There are three scenes in my head that could've been used.

Clifford: "I may have malice or an intention to deceive Her Highness."
    Octavia:
Then I guess I'll get another guard. :blobwob:
    Clifford: .... wut.... :blobconcerned:
Octavia: Two is better than one, right? :blobcheeky: Just in case, so I don't need to rely only on one person :blobsmirk:
Clifford: ............................................................... I apologize and take everything I said back :blobconcerned:

Clifford: "I may have malice or an intention to deceive Her Highness."
    Octavia:
    Okay. I understand. :blobwob:
*some events later, Octavia gets herself hurt again*
Clifford: What did I say at the semi-ball about relying on me and using me? :blobstare:
Octavia: Yeah, but you also told me not to trust you. :blobwob: And I can't rely on a guy I can't trust. :meowpuffyblep:
Clifford: ................................................................................................................................................................................................... So that was just a prank :blobconcerned:

Clifford: "I may have malice or an intention to deceive Her Highness."
    Octavia:
If you deceive me, then I'll just have to replace you :meowknife: .
    Clifford: Wait, what? :blobwoah:
Octavia: It's logical. No one wants to be around someone who deceived them. So if that ever happened to me, I would cut that person out of my life, and they would never see me again. :meowcoffee: And I would hate that person for the rest of my life, without any reconcilation.
Clifford: ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... So today is April Fool's day :blobconcerned: .

Anyone of those scenarios could've worked. :meowfacepalm: Sighed.

Anyways, Clifford then asks if he can ask her one thing, and she says yes. He asked if she liked Alexis, her younger brother (who's actually her biological cousin). It was an unexpected question but a no-brainer, as she replied that he's her family and her precious brother. Silence falls for a moment. Clifford lowered his eyes and bowed his head once, saying that he's got it. She asks him if by any chance, Clifford talked to former Celius about Alexis. And Clifford say no :meowpuffysoul: (you sexy liar). He replies that what former Celius told him was something else and Clifford was warned not to let his guard down. (To be precise, former Celius actually did warn Clifford to be careful of Alexis. I guess the reason he didn't go into detail about that because he didn't want Octavia, who loves Alexis, to worry about it. That's why he said he was warned but not who he was warned about).

But Octavia thinks that Clifford should watch out for Douchebag who put him in prison. She asks him if that's all former Celius told him, and Clifford replied that the part where former Celius also told him that he will be wary of him the next. Octavia interprets it as saying that Clifford should also protect himself from Douchebag, since he was full of doubts about Clifford.

She finally tells Clifford if he can call someone this time, and Clifford obeys and stands up from his knees. She didn't call him this though she did unconsciously tried to raise her right hand again (to stop him again :bloblove:).

EDIT: So calming down and thinking back to when Octavia replied to Clifford that she'll forgive him for his betrayal, I suppose it's a reflection of when Clifford told her he would even take knowingly poison if she served it to him. The author, in my opinion, does tend to draw parallels between the two :hmm:

This took longer than I thought because of my thirst so I'll post the rest later. :meowpats:
