    Given how they have been dealing with fan translation so far, I have hope they won’t go full retard like yen press and alienate their entire fan base. From what I understand some translators are already semi-official so it’d be weird if they started over from chapter 1.

    Only 4 out of my 10 novels are Qidian... I can live even if they tell me to take them off.

    If they become another Yen Press then I'm just gonna quit reading.
    If they force shut down all of the current translation and then they translate from the beginning again then I'm just gonna quit reading.
    Beside those 2 problems then probably not much issues I guess.
    In the end, KR novels like how their webtoon is slowly gaining more popular is going to stand at the top at this rate.

    please guys, read the reddit announcement from them, they want to work with the fan translators, offer them money and the possibility to join them including the license to translate ( was one comment in the thread) and I never once heard they want to start from the start so don't be so pessimistic

    Which is totally fine and good for translations. They make more money, we get more stuff to read. Exactly why Yenpress failed. They asked for more money while giving significantly less content. That shit isn’t going to fly.

    we can only hope nothing bad happens (like yen press) lovely '-'. Also are most of the cn wn from qidian? I thought it was mostly ww ones

    that would be alright so long as we read same as before(read for free and giving money is optional)...if they go with monthly subscription the surely number of readers will fall by over 70% on estimates...

    They have been contacting translators for months now. They plan to work with current translators and editors to continue translations unless they're really low quality or MTL. A couple MTLers have gotten emails from Qidian that intimidated them to stop their translations.

    It feels more like Qidian will just become another TL site that's official and has more stringent quality standards.

    Problem was, a lot of those emails were basically hidden slave contracts. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (To the non-mtlers. I'm am too low on chapters to be caught on their radar, but this is something we talk among ourselves)
