I wanted to ask if anybody in China has watched this movie yet and what are their thoughts about it ? I wanted to give this movie a try but I am seeing a 6.3/10 rating on IMDb which is not that great. Try not to spoil the movie or use appropriate spoiler tags ^_^ Sorry for the bad English. P.S. : To all Indians out there The Great Wall is set to release on February 3 in India.
Some Chinese novels have 3.5/5.0 star rating. But the translators get over $5,000 a month. Compare with the 4.5+/5.0 novels, the translators get less than $500/mo. IMDb is hollyweed-prone rating.
Just from looking at the trailers, yea. Looks like a horrible movie. I think IMDB is rating it 2 high.
I just watch it two days ago and overall worth my time for me and action packed right from the beginning of the movie.
i watched it, and i like it btw from Hungary the plot is a bit dumb, but the action and koreografy is awesome, the visuals are stunning but a the monsters cgi is sometimes out of place if you like blockbuster movies then you will like this one
Wouldn't really trust the imdb rating since there are a lot of people accusing it of white washing despite there not really being a reason to. That said I'm not personally interested in it because I find the idea of a movie about the great wall being attacked by dragons to just be stupid.
It has a bad review in China and people do not like the cast. It has a 5.0/10 on Chinese film rating website Douban. I did not watch it. I watched Journey to the West and think it is okay!
I think it's a decent happy action movie with a worn out plot but overall worth watching Edit : Reminded me a little of Raymond E Feist's empire series which if you haven't read go to the library NOW!
Watched it in the cinema. Fucking expensive, sorry for swearing. I think it costed 10.50€. Watched it late at night, damn. I don't recommend it, if you want plot. Plot was basically one single move. Well, not gonna tell you too much, but I think it was garbage. Just warning you...
Watched it recently. It was a nice movie. I enjoyed it. If you're looking for philosophical discussion, awesome plot, good comedy, memorable romance or powerful dialogues, you will find none here. What it does deliver, however, is nice cinematography. It wasn't overdone and it does give you a sense of awe and urgency. The action scenes could've been done better. You don't feel like you're part of the action. Costumes could do with a bit less gaudy and bit more functional designs. All in all, it's not the best action movie, but it's not the worst either. So watch it without any expectation. Plus, there's none of those forced Hollywood kissing scenes, so it's also something suitable to be watched with children.
I loved the production and cinematography of the film! Despite all the harsh criticism I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
