I say there should be a new filter for Japanese Novels. Filter: Title length. I mean seriously! How long can your title be? ex (granted I MTL-ed this title, but still. In Japanese it's just as long!): Cheat who transposed to another world together. It seems that she is aiming for the reverse Harem, but what should I do without this battle cheat? I believe this is a serious discussion. PS: I don't necessarily mean NU. Publishers are included.
C'mon those titles are amusing me, so no from me. And what's up with the third option in the polls? I wonder EDIT: Oh, I understand the third option now. . . really ingenious ps. I mean, Japan is unique, why change a unique country? I mean, not everyone can be like in the United States, where everything is mixed into one single culture. My two cents
Well...It's just long when written or translated to english. It's not as long in it's original language
The length doesn´t matter at all does it? I mean if you are lazy you also just write 1-3 words/ short form (like TMW DE ...) to find the novel besiedes the title is sometimes like a short summary so you already know what you will get in a way before reading the whole description
i still say they make their titles that long so they get the title and synopsis done at the same time~
There's no need for a filter or tag or anything or the sort. You don't have to be a genius to notice such a thing as a long title Long titles are just amusing or a tad bit annoying to see.
My personal opinion is when you can critisize a title for being a run-on sentence it is too damn long.
I'm a Japanese Novelist, Trying To Come Up With a Good Title For My Story, But I Got Writer's Block So I Just Described It In One To Two Sentences.
I think the original one that started it all was How I Followed A Man With An Exposed Nipple And Stumbled Upon The Zenithian Sword
dont give them any more ideas prof, or if you have to give them more ideas at least copyright them so you can get royalties
the reason japanese novels have such long titles is because the japanese readers are lazy and dont bother pick up a book turn it around and read the synopsis instead they now read half the synopsis in the title this guy goes a little bit more in detail about it
Yep. Read the title and add to either 'dropped' list or 'bookmark.' Very efficient. Most go to 'dropped' so my expectations have become pretty low when I see a long title.
The rough translation of that novel is, 'My cheat girlfriend who got transferred to another world together is aiming for reverse harem, with had no battle cheat, I wonder what should I do?' The title picked my interest so further I read the synopsis, At the beginning the protagonist is weak, but he obtain power in order to not get defeated by anyone but her. One day, in the middle of a date, we got summoned to another world. Her skill is peerless / unequaled. My skill is pulling goods / thing towards myself. Different world slapstick drama of the boy who is taming his sweetheart while repel man whose approached with using her weakness that was charmed by genius-at-sport-handsome man in which the young girl (shoujo) like very much .... plan. And that made me want to read the novel. So, the long title is worked on me. Even if it is indeed rather annoying lol OOT: the novel looks interesting. someone want to translate it?
hmm my japanese is not that good (I am a novice, it is just 3 months since I started learn it) and I will need an editor because my grammar is suck if you are okay with that, just pm me. the chapter is short, I think I could manage
