Right now I'm translating the first chapter of "To Get a Wife, Eat Her First." I'm able to understand most of it by using my phone to listen to it but I'm illiterate in Chinese so I'm also relying on machine translating and my family to explain parts of it. However there are some things that I feel hard to word in English, and also... some things that you wouldn't want your very conservative dad to know you're reading. The title for instance. Anyway... I will be posting phrases and sentences in hopes that a passing translator can help me.

    A) 急促响起
    喊叫夹杂着皮鞋踩上大理石地板的沉闷声,急促响起
I just have a hard time phrasing this. Please give me suggestions for the English translation (><).

    B) 让许多女性拜倒在他西装裤下了
    不过这就难怪常听女同事夸赞总经理人不只长得帅、有才华,斯文有礼又温柔这点更是让许多女性拜倒在他西装裤下了
I'm confused with the meaning of this. I know it literally means something like "women bow to his trousers" so is it that "they worship/fangirl over him"?

First one is describing the sounds of the footsteps and shoutings - it was rapid/urgent. You can either go really literal or just shortened it by combining the two sentences.

The second is just that - they worship him.

I asked a tler to tl it for you through meh
But, it's hard to blame the female colleague for constantly praising this CEO. He not only was handsome, talented, educated and courteous, the fact that he was also warm/gentle made many females fall to their knees before his suit paints.
So ya they basically fall to their knees for him lol swoon

Finally have motivation to finish translating some of this again. So I came across another part that confused me:
The character's mouth "hooked"- is that negative or positive? Like is it that his mouth corner turned up or turned down? Seriously the context clues are useless in this section. [嘴角一勾。]

喊叫夹杂着皮鞋踩上大理石地板的沉闷声,急促响起。 = "Screams mixed with the dull and rapid sound of leather shoes striking the marble floor could be heard."
让许多女性拜倒在他西装裤下了 = They fall in love with him.

A lot of Chinese phrases are metaphorical, so don't try to translate them literally...

    The character is smirking.

    Edit:
Guan Zhong is correct. 嘴角一勾。-> "The corner of his mouth curled up."

'Could be heard/was made(sound)'. something to that degree. You can't singularize that word. You'll have to rephrase your sentence to make it sound natural.

    不过这就难怪常听女同事夸赞总经理人不只长得帅、有才华,斯文有礼又温柔这点更是让许多女性拜倒在他西装裤下了。
In the context, It means 'Fall for him'(Because he is kind, handsome, yadi yada).

Hahah, stuff like this reminds me of the saying:
"The first 90% of the work takes 90% of the time. Then the remaining 10% takes 90% of the time."
(implying you end up spending most of your time on the few items you're stuck on)

Especially in the case of Chinese novels, you can find yourself facing all sorts of these weird expressions and wordplays.

I recall reading an article about a professional Chinese -> English interpreter (non-Chinese). He was doing his job just fine, until the Chinese party decided to go "There is a saying in my hometown... [insert saying, something about deers and such]", and of course the translator ended up thinking ("wtf is That supposed to mean?!").

Comrade!! (Wait I'm not a Communist, don't misunderstand lol.)
I'm only good at audio-translating conversations for the most part, since oral communication is the only reason why I understand Chinese at all at this point. Is it the same for you?

I remember being introduced to a girl who just moved here from China and she asked, "Oh so you're an ABC?" I was like, "What??" Then she explained that it was short for American Born Chinese. Strangely enough, I rarely encounter that phrase.

Not sure if you still need it but in English, you can describe it as 'smirk' <- in case you need variance of that expression
