Discussion How many chapters does a series on here or RRL need before you'll start to read it?

Depends on how bored or desperate I am. Usually, I will read it if there is a fixed schedule with high frequency releases (3 or more chapters per week) with at least 20 or 30 chapters. If it updates only twice a week, I may read it if it has 100+ translated chapters. But if I'm too bored or desperate, I may read it as soon as the first chapter is out, although only when it is translated by a known and reputable translator that usually translates fast. Also, it all depends on how much interest I have on the novel. The more interesting it seems, the more loose I will be with my requirements. If it only looks barely interesting, I may read it only if I am very bored and if it has a very high release frequency and 100/200+ chapters out already.

 

Sigh it's so unfair for the ones with long chapters.

 

I read it right away if it's look intristing, even I tend to drop after read 1 chapter 'coz it did not draw my interest.

 

1 chapter is plenty for me! Increasing my reading list is always a plus! \(^^)/

 

I usually do not pay attention to the amount of chapters that were released, nor do I pay any attention to the release frequency.

Most of the novels I read have few chapters translated and a slow release rate, I would run out of things to read really quickly should I start filtering through those ways.

Also, as others mentioned, you might be losing on series with big chapters, Youjo Senki for example has chapters that take about 2h for me to read, I would never read it if I judged it by the amount of chapters.

 

Depends upon the author. Quality will get me reading earlier

I agree that why I like light novels jui Shen and longer chapter ones as fullers cause the good quality ones tend to take longer.

Around 20 usually. It usually depends on the genre though, and whether I have anything else to read or not.
