Hey for all of you who went to see ghost in the shell, what did you think about it? I went to see but I haven't seen the original anime movie so I don't have anything to compare it with. I had fun with the movie, it was exciting and beautiful. I keep on seeing reviews on how it fails the original anime movie but on it's own, I thought it was really good.
They took togusa's revolver away from him and gave it to the old man! That was like his only defining characteristic lol, u'd forget about him otherwise. Batou is suppose to have those cyborg eyes long before he joins the squad as well On its own its quite a decent movie. Its suppose to be a stand alone that is only using the animes plot, not adapting the anime to live-action like in Japan so I don't think it fails the original too bad. I guess one thing that failed was that they didn't formerly introduce the rest of the squad at all. You don't know anyone else in the squad except for Batou! Loved the optic camouflage for Makoto~ Also loved the end where she destroys her arms to man-handle the tank. My fav was the villains patchy computer voice, I just really liked it xD.
It was ok. Too much talking for my taste tho, but the action are well done. Its story is kinda heavy tho. its not like most of the shounen where you can just switch off your brain and enjoy the empty marry sue action.. you will find it a bit boring if you do so..
Its......ok Visuals are great but story is sometimes boring as hell, fell asleep a few times, also cause I was tired. Memorable characters like Old Man Daisuke whos the most badass person in the movie.
The live action failed in its delivery of topics and failed to follow "show don't tell". The visuals were there but combining the puppet master story and individual 11 story line killed it for me. They also answered a lot of questions that the original left open ended, as if the audience wasn't intelligent enough to handle them. I gave it a 3 out of ten because it fails in many areas the original displayed as masterpieces. I still paid full price to see it in hopes of getting a "good" anime to live action adaptation someday.
Try to watch gist stand alone complex if you want to compare. Of all anime ghost in the shell, that one is the best imo
Well considering this is based off of the 90s animated film and steals story bits from 2nd gig. I still think innocence and the original are some of the best this series has, though the entire series is great imho.
That is kinda the entire point of the series as it deals heavily with philosophy and is generally a thought provoking series. It can be hard to follow but it is worth it.
The ideas in the movies were a lot more interesting after I had taken I philosophy course and talked about Descartes and his man in a machine, as well as all the other ideas of were a soul is.
The philosophy in SAC isn't lesser than in the movies though, just spread out over a longer running time.
