I did happen to read something like that before, and I think it's mentioned in the novel where the MC sort of enters the same 'settings' in a gameish way. Not like he's the only one who's been branded by the people in power as 'evil' or a criminal by doing what they consider right, morally right, legally right, politically right, just some type of 'significant' right.
f you follow the comics then he had a bunch of adventures before he was even a pirate, including getting a magical sword an amulet and stealing treasure from some pirate lord or another.
It was told in the movies. David Jones and William Turner's dad Bootleg reminded jack about the agreement. I remember Jack going down in the deck to get some rum and meets Bootleg who was stuck to the wall. He reminded Jack about his contract with octopus. The most memorable scene there would be Bootleg grabbing a hermit crab and eating it.
I remember that too, however they never really went into the details. But wow, Jack Sparrow just became so much cooler!
