    Even more Novelupdates Forum
    [note: crikey why are all the forum posts split ...]

    @MiP @Jastolus @Estarossa @_Selutu_ thread
    MiP
    Like this post said, are xianxia authors mostly teenagers?

    - no, but most are middle-aged men [IMG]
    Jastolus
    Don't confuse mental age with physical age.

    - authors have a young soul [IMG]
    - they probably meant childish

    [note: pic below is for the following convo]

    [IMG]
    Hunta
    Uncles and aunties

    - I remember this guy. Isn't he the one who said he was the internet's greatest user?
    - you're kidding right
    - So it's true that one remember those who say the most shocking words..... actually I also remember him
    Estarossa
    Tjss- 35
    Er Gen-middle aged
    IET-middle aged
    Mars Gravity-maybe young?

    - RIP IET

    [note: I Eat Tomatoes (IET) was actually 29 at the time of this post lol]
    _Selutu_
    That's a complete lie, most of them are in their late twenties or older.

    - the problem lies in the fact that their flagship works were written when they were in their early twenties
    @paradoxlie @Dyone @Vrinshael thread
    paradoxlie
    Do anyone ever feel you stop reading novel for a moment and feel jumpy and nervous because climax? or is it only me

    - I've stopped because the climax was approaching
    Dyone
    Depends on it, i even do it with manga, anime and movies if it gets to a point where i am jumping out of my chair.

    - I'm not like this. They're so weird [IMG]
    - I will stop when a character is about to die or if there are signs foretelling his death
    - I'll often put down the book when I'm excited and go do house chores to cool down
    - When I hit the climax, I often want to pee [IMG]
    Vrinshael
    I usually stop reading my R18 novels after I climax.

    [OP introduces My Disciple Died Yet Again]

    - Finally shoujo/josei! I wonder if there are guys among the group of people that like to read it
    OP: lemme tell you, most of the people who read this book are guys

    [note: lol we don't think of this novel as a shoujo/josei, though it is marketed as such in China]
    @KKristen
    KKristen
    I don't like to review a series until I'm finished with it, but what the heck, I'm at Chapter 180, and this can't wait.
    This is one of THE BEST Chinese light novels I've ever read. Definitely in my Top 3 favorites, along with I Shall Seal The Heavens and Douluo Dalu. If you don't like those novels, and instead you love series like MGA or ATG, maybe don't even bother reading this review... you probably won't like this.

    OP: After this, the guy goes on to list the strong points of the novel. It's so long it could practically qualify for the essay section of the National College Entrance Exam ... so I won't be translating it
    - why is everything "the best"? [IMG]
    @archigoel
    archigoel
    Very Nice Story. I have read till Chapter 78, and story has been simply fun. It will be interesting to see how author will continue this pace in future chapters, but till now if you have been bored of standard Xianxia's, this one will refresh you.

    - this book is indeed pretty good. I didn't think they'd be able to translate it over
    @Mr.Bush @dustmite thread

    Okay, first I need to give some context for those that don't know about Hui Tai Lang. In China, there is this massively popular Chinese children's cartoon called Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf, and Big Big Wolf is Hui Tai Lang.
    Mr. Bush
    So i read this newly translated novel I am Hui Tai Lang and there was something about Hui Tai Lang being a T.V show and in LLS the Mc named his wolf Hui Tai Lang ,so i tried to do some research but to no avail
    So what is the origan of Hui Tai Lang and a link if possible will be appreciate

    - he couldn't even get any search results?
    - OP go recommend him Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf
    - [IMG] someone link him the cartoon
    dustmite
    Isn't Hui tai lang just a generic name for a wolf in chinese...
    Just like Fido for a dog, or big bad wolf for a wolf.

    - the fuck you mean "generic name for a wolf"

    To be honest, I accidentally counted 10 parts instead of 9 parts (can't even count to 9 sad life). So there isn't really a part 10. But I'll probably translate more...

    Wow, that was a super fun read. Interesting that the reviews often mention "face" lol I hadn't even noticed it. The Chinese also hate all of the fillers, huh? But at least they get like daily updates while we are lucky if its weekly.

    Please continue if there's more.

    I would cultivate some technique that didn't require experiencing significant pain. I'd follow the Dao of Laziness or something.

    - just take Chen Tuan as your master

    [note: Chen Tuan (year 872-989) is a legendary Daoist sage who was also known as the Sleeping Immortal. His Dao was the Dao of Sleep, and he would apparently sleep for days at a time.]

    This is an idiotic question on my part but, when will you catch up to the manhua?

    -manhua is the pinyin?
    - they don't say manga?
    - Is it overseas Chinese reading them? I feel like a lot of the foreigners won't understand the culture!
    - At first they need a guide, but after a while they won't need one
    - Chinese people would read the English version?
    - Chinese people don't need translations
    - more and more chinese people don't know chinese

    Excerpt from Weibo:

    We are all sick of all tropes like MC pretending to be weak, MC flipping the tables, the little sect sister likes MC, the lovely magic teacher crushing on MC, etc etc. But to them...

    BAHAHAHAHA Ruyi pointed me to this thread, thanks for translating their comments! It's fascinating in that even though the OP of the thread obviously has a high command of English, he gets a lot of the translation wrong. I read through all the SOTR comments and he did "cultivation" as literally "raising crops on a farm", and was completely off about farting. But this is really hilarious, I loved it.

    Just a Chinese username. I just put his name there so it was obvious that it was the same person replying in the comment thread.

    And as for Life is Full of Resentment, I'm not too sure about the details since I haven't read it myself... I've seen it tagged as fantasy, and the author himself tagged it as horror (lol). It seems to be based on Chinese mythology. It was on Qidian back in 2005 but then got removed (censorship?). From what I've gleaned, it seems to be a legendary tearjerker.
