forced to crawl between legs. why is it derogatory?

I remember reading such a situation in a novel as well. can't remember which though.

They are forced to imitate a beast which human regards as beneath them. Some cultures centuries ago don't let their babies crawl.

 

I'm going to guess that it's related to admitting 'you're beneath them' and they're 'above you' in a literal manner, either way these things are highly cultural, maybe someone somewhere else is asking people on a forum why teabagging someone is disrespectful.
