Discussion Shoujo Manga Recommendation

I am in the mood to read a good shoujo manga. Can anyone recommend any? I know there are many, but i want something with a decent plot and romance. I do not care how old it is, as long as the female is not a typical weak female. For example, Gakuen Alice, Kare Kano, Kodocha, Skip Beat, Tokyo Crazy Paradise, those types of female leads. I just want something cute, funny, and romantic.

Warau Kanoko-sama / Koi da no ai da no: Cynical female MC, doesn't believe in love. Thinks most people are hypocrites.


Akagami no Shirayukihime: Red hair is a sign of bad luck. Our red-haired protagonist dreams of becoming a notable pharmacist, then meets the Prince.

I been meaning to read that one but i always put it on hold.

I started reading up to the 7th chapter and then stopped. Is it really good?

Not sure. But do you still recommend it?

I did not know this was a manga, but it was on my reading list for the novel.

I actually love that one. it is one of my favorites. I wish it had a longer ending though. I love the female lead

Kaichou wa maid sama has a nice, strong lead

 

Okay, going for older classics:

- Hana Yori Dango: Commoner student attending a school for the ultra-rich and elite tries to stay below the radar. But when she stands up for a student being bullied, she catches the eye of the F4, the school's hottest and richest boys. Then she kicks the F4 leader in the balls.

- Penguin Brothers: New transfer student joins a high school that has been divided into two student factions - Whites and Blacks. After both fail at recruiting her, she forms her own faction to put an end to the war.

- Glass Mask / Garasu no Kamen:
Maya daydreams about being an actress all the time, despite her difficult circumstances. When a mysterious stranger sponsors her education, she works hard to prove herself a worthy actress. May be too weak an MC for you, though.

- Anatolia Story: Girl time-travels back to the days of the Babylonian Empire and gets caught up in the wars and politics there.

Disclaimer: These are the mangas I remember I enjoyed immensely.. If you don't like them that's fine but I hope you find at least one that interests you. Not in any particular order. I also tried not to suggest anything too mainstream coz you might have already read those. If I can suggest somethingm, try Kingyo Sou first since it's kinda short but is very sweet Sorry I couldn't put the summaries in these suggestions. Have fun!

Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun

 

Something old that catches my eye would be Basara or Anatolia Story(Red River).

Along the shoujo art styles there's 7 Seeds which I desperately recommend. (It needs more love!! Despite being a post-apocalypse story, it just makes you bond and fall in love with every team after each arc.)
