So we see examples of harems every day, but not polygamy. As soon as it becomes a long term system/relationship, then there tends to be problems.

you can have harem irl. having harem doesn't necessarily mean that you have to marry everyone. if the partners agree to it then nobody can stop you from cohabitation even legally.
of course, you have to be a jp mc with ladies magnet built in you for it to happen irl.
