Am I the only one who doesn't care?

 

I was basically lost from the part where he talks about QQ and his roommate(or is this the 3rd mysterious 'author'?).
Edit: Too many twists and turns... I don't think I understand much from that post.

 

I don't know, seems like a bad time to go on a hiatus. They should just keep doing what they've done, and people will forget.

 

Pretty thin, and pretty long-winded, but at least it's resolved. Hopefully it sets a good example for other people who have considered the same idea to get the extra exposure.

if it isnt publishing that matters. a fanfic is a story using a stories chars/setting. this is just an unpublished fiction webnovel

 

From what I understand, it's not EXACTLY a fake. It's a more ambiguous problem.

But I think everybody has overreacted for just a small thing. At the end, whatever the novel's tags, It was their own work ... not like if they had stolen anything.

well, if you mean that is a chinese story then yes, but the story is real =P... they tried to pass their story as a chinese one for some reason, would have been better from the start to say that they are 2 american students and they make an story based on chinese stuff from the chinese student... and wether or not they were translating it or creating it, well isnt it better, they are the authors now... but i do agree what it was stupid to try to pass it as chinese and not explain from the start that the story was from 2 student in america =P

I sympathize with the author wanting it over but he talks a lot for someone who clearly tried to mask an english original as a chinese work so he could get the audience that reads those works. I mean I don't know the person nor his intentions but if actions speak louder than words then what's with the chinese names? or the chinese look alike template? Hard to deny that his intention was to publish his work in chinese after he was done with it. Still I feel he got a lot of negative backlash from angry people so I'd be scared too, however one should notice that if he had never lied in the first place then all of that wouldn't have happened, plus he did lead on his followers into thinking he was translating his work otherwise he would not have mentioned the chinese raws which so many other translators have pointed out are broken google translate raws. In the end while I understand their wish to get this controversy over with and put it to rest so they can move on, I feel close to the angry people who feel they were lead to believe the work was a chinese original. I mean shit, writting it out from scratch is harder he should get donations simply for that, problem is english novels don't get the traffic chinese or japanese do if royalroadl is anything to go by.
Not a reader of the novel but after seeing all the controversy, I like a good little worker ant looked it up for a bit. =D

 

I've never read the said novel but I can't say that i don't care, this scandal is pretty interesting if you think about it, particularly the scam.

 

I think this is the best ending we could possibly have at this point.
Assuming the post is true, they admitted to their own mistakes and shared the whole story.
That aside, I'm still going to follow the story.

I see so many people saying that SpiritualTranscription scammed people but there were no scamming involved in this. People donated out of their free will to get more chapters.

 

You donate to get chapters out faster. The chapters came out faster. I'm not saying he should have lied but I think it's kind of ridiculous to think that translators deserve donations and authors don't.

Yeah, I'll second this. Whatever people think set aside, at least there probably won't be more issues like this showing up now that there has already been a precedent. Should save ourselves from future drama.
