Yes. He became the new head of eunuchs after MC left. After the Emperor found out he wasn't an eunuch.
He's...not really a concubine? I can't remember the exact term used, but he lives in the harem but also has political power iirc, so it's kind of higher than even the position of Empress in a way since the Empress wasn't allowed to meddle in matters of the court (don't quote me on this though since my knowledge of ancient Chinese customs isn't that great). He wasn't really happy about coming back but at that point, he didn't have a choice... Later he falls in love, so I guess things worked out in the end. The Emperor gave him a new identity in order to marry him, since his old one definitely wouldn't have allowed that. I'm not sure how many of the eunuchs connected his new identity with his old one, but there's no way they'd court death and make fun of him even if they did.
shouldnt they recognise him?...he was the head eunich after all..... How did emperor made him come back?
Well, even if they did, the Emperor is claiming he's a different person, and unless they wanted to die, no one would dare contradict the Emperor. The Emperor attacked and took over the country of the prince who helped him escape. It was pretty much a 'come back with me or I'll kill everyone here' situation. MC didn't want the prince to die, nor did he have a way to escape, so no choice but to go back and get married to the Emperor.
The Emperor gifts him with a palace and uh, I'm sure there were other stuff... Honestly, I read this while hoping anyone besides the Emperor would end up w/ MC, so I'm definitely not the best person to ask about their cute moments, sorry...
Eh, Ling Xiao was a male concubine alright. In ancient china, male concubines were overall more powerful than female ones because they were usually chosen based on their ability to do work while also being good in bed. So they held double duties of being something like an official while also being the Emperor's bed partners. Although not super common, male concubines were also not rare. It was only around when the westerners arrived and started to install thoughts of homophobic in the chinese, it was completely fine back then...
i think the topic came up here too http://forum.novelupdates.com/posts/1736527/ http://forum.novelupdates.com/posts/1736390/
One of my final history papers was on ancient china eunuchs so I did a lot of random research everywhere...
Oh wow. I thought we are more accepting about male marriage now than in the past. It was actually the opposite. How does the emperor react? Seeing that his little eunuch is not really an eunuch?
He's surprised for maybe a few seconds, and continues on with his original plan of action, to put it nicely.
I just finished MTLing this novel, and surprisingly, it's easier to MTL somehow (like I understand a lot more than I usually did lol). The emperor seriously have trust issues, but in the end he did dissolved the harem (after almost killing MC for suggesting it) even when he knows he needs the support of the harem to make a strong country. But then the MC shocks him by giving him a gift (weapons construction manual from the future) for dissolving the harem for him and all is well. MC turns out to be more valuable than the harem.
