@rwxwuxiaworld - I think you're having trouble understanding the convoluted logic at play here.

See, translation is like a car. Qidian owns the blueprint to the car, and you paid them money for that blueprint. Then you used that blueprint to build an entire car for yourself, customizing it and making it just right. BUT THE CAR DOESN'T BELONG TO YOU! See, Qidian was just letting you have the privilege of building it for them and driving it around a bit, but they're really the ones that own the car. They were fine letting you use the car as an Uber for a while, but now they believe its best for all the passengers if they also drive the car around and pick up passengers. Of course, they'd prefer it if you let them drive the car around most of the time because the car automatically belongs to them.

 

Just expect "Fair Game" policies from them and keep your lawyers' number primed.

Remember to keep all 50cent Army IDs blocked.

 

An attempt to buy back any legal rights you have to the translations, while from what i understand you are allowed to host the novels as part of the agreement, if they were to buy them back this would become null and void.

 

I didn't get an answer from Qidian in another thread to this below, nor do I expect, but I think it is a legit question, so I will add it to your argument:

Except that's not how copyright law works. Unless you're referencing the business model, but what's really up for argument is who owns what copyright.

 

Impressive how much this Qidian account actually replies, yet doesn't really offer any substance in the posts. Yet to see any replies about the screenshots, instead whining about personal attacks.

Is this a joke response? If it was an attempt to buy back legal rights which WUXIAWORLD has, why would you attempt to buy it back from our signed and contracted translators?

That's a bit of an inept analogy as only one person can use the car at the same time, if we sold you the plans on how to make the car and you made them, do you own the rights to the plans? But this is all outside the scope of the real conversation.
