Is that a reason not to do anything? Besides you can block these ads and trackers entirely.

And is it shameful not to support someone who's asking you to sell data about yourself and encourage to the use of even more ads? It's not. And let's be realist, it'll never just be what it currently is, it'll only slowly become more.

Why? Because one website doing it means a hundred others will do more, which will lead to the revenue from ads falling because of cheaper price, which leads to putting more ads and also rendering the previous number of ads acceptable. It's just worse and worse, and that's why it should never be allowed right from the get-go.

And certainly you can't expect everybody to be aware of it and radical, but when you get a fucking pop-up asking you to watch an ad for a certain number of seconds? Are you not kidding yourself when you agree to this?

I agree, if the ad industry is racing to the bottom, I prefer to pay a subscription to fund the site to get the service I wanted instead of the said website relying on ads to keep the operation going.

"Ads" are fine and an accepted part of the internet.

Video ads, ads with sounds, expecially forced ones are considered a blight and will piss off about 95% of the people that come into contact with them, and it will prompt the majority of them to find a way to bypass said, ads, ultimiately leaving you with less viewership and less revune than if you simply used a normal ad.

It's like a bouncer at a club. We get their purpose, and while they might look at us funny, it's not a problem unless they want to stick their hand up our ass in order to get in.

And there's many business models like that by the way... For example, most libraries have a service where you pay a small fee every year and can rent any book.

Here we have another problem : the publishing industry being too rigorous and not allowing competitors to step in. But these are all because of the indifference of people to such things...

Well I don't know, maybe if you were wiser you could figure some things out right? As a really basic example, you'll buy Coca-Cola because you saw an ad and rather than helping you, it just blinded you from seeing the other cola brand next to it that's half as cheap for exactly the same stuff.

I don't think I ever heard anybody claim ads are actually helpful, coming from QI's PR even more so... Well it's not like I can really trust what you say to be honest.

It is so but if you notice, it'll slowly becoming normal for ads to be not only be intrusive in subversive ways but also ostentatiously invasive and people are just fine with it. And fifty years from now on they'll be okay with their fridges having ads, with devices that detect if you're closing your eyes and with fast foods knowing about your health and making personal suggestions to you.

No thats called being stupid, you see the ad and it makes you think "yeah i want that" or "No i dont want that" true maybe seeinga coke ad makes you get one over a pepsi that just means you wanted the coke more, its not some brainwashing that FORCES you to buy it, it plays on what you ACTUALLY want, and reminds or tells you what you want. And ADs are helpful your just one of those tinfoil "the goverment is reading my thoughts and programming my brain people"

That's a different matter all together.

This is a question of disruptiveness.

I just want ads to support original authors. Translators are earning more than enough but the one who wrote the story are not getting paid.

Actually they are, part of the deal with Qidian was because they do support the original author with the revenue.

How much does Qi charge per chapter over in China? Forced 15-second advertisements are wasting your time. Now, the average US minimum wage is $7.25 USD. 3,600 seconds in an hour. 7.25/3600=0.0020138888888889. That's how much one second of our time is worth. 0.0020138888888889*15=0.0302083333333333 = $0.03 cents per advertisement.

Adwalls are paywalls, but at least paywalls have the decency to kiss you afterward.

It is not a waste of time. Don't tell me you just stare at the screen for a whole 15 secs? Why would any sane person do that? Just take a stretch or relax your eyes for 15 secs lol

I don't really care about 15 sec ads since I've seen worse and it at least didn't trigger thousand of popups on random click, but what irks me is the app. I'm not sure whether it's a bug or not, but the word formatting is fucking shit since all the words are all jumbled in one big giant paragraph for me instead of usual formatting.

Please tell me this is a bug instead of a feature. Most of the time i need to turn my brain off just to read cn novels, this shit just makes it worse.

Also for the people who dont want ads in the app download the previous versions , my favorite is 1.2 , and boom no ads. You can also download adaway or samsung internet+adblock+mobile site depending on your needs.

Qidian deleted my account while I was reading. Be careful guys. You may end up like me. Trying to prove to there tons of books, exactly the chapter you stopped. I suggest you use other sites that still host books translated by qidian.
Even though it's stealing, my one week of organizing say, they deserve it.
