The kind of people that can't even take time to notice the sidebar won't even think that far. They won't go, oh this is just basic bootstrap, maybe it's not ready. So that is pretty much moot. There are ads, we are currently using adsense. I don't know how moonbunnycafe works, but everything is automated, no need to update index manually, etc...
Rather than something unreliable as the ads money. We begin giving people a steady base rpm (which already is higher than the average rpm we receive from adsense) And that RPM can increase based on the amount of chapters you do. There is of course an upper limit. But if ad RPM increases, we will make the limit go higher. Which is more rewarding and reliable than the ad money. And don't forget the ad blocks. The revenue you receive is the full amount, and it does not matter if people have ad-blocks or not. So it is a lot more reliable and steady for you to receive the revenue this way. You don't need to have the headache of ad-blocks, ad networks, etc...
Well I didn't ask for "what kind of ads you are using" but thanks for the answer anyway. I meant "how do you share the ads revenue between yourself and the translator" 50-50? 70-30?
More than the ads, yes. But I have also a different system in place to increase revenue. It is a win win situation. Moreover when pageviews increases, there will be more options to increase revenue.
We have a system in place that creates 1 vip chapter per 25 chapters (latest chapters). It is like preliminary access. It is automatic. The chapters eventually become available for everyone, while subscribed users can access vip chapters and don't have to see any ads. It is where our extra revenue comes from that helps with paying your revenue and we are still pumping the extra back into the site completely.
