Discussion Did you ever get tricked by Novels with enticing titles but not what you expected?

I saw the yaoi tag on The Legendary Master's Wife and almost skipped it, but decided to give it a chance anyways and it ended up being good despite the yaoi cliches.

It's not the gay sex part (I enjoy that kind of stuff once in a while), it's everything else about the genre that makes me avoid it.

 

Hehe, you're not the type of person I mean. It's fine to dislike yaoi, everyone has preferences. It's just about some of the reactions I saw here and elsewhere, merely about seeing the tag itself. I'm not into yuri myself, but I don't act like seeing the tag yuri terrifies me lol. Not even to exaggerate, cause it just takes one click to close the tab or put the series in my dropped list without sparing a second thought .

Well you'd be wrong if you were serious too , both series have little to do with what you said.

 

People are afraid of the door beyond, once they venture too close they can't get back. I hated NTR but now I lol at the story.

 

People seem to seldom read past the first arc or so. Shame.

some people like me, search novel using this tag.

After reading so many of these the titles all start to sound the same to me.

 

i've stopped depending on just titles long ago. but when the synopsis also lies to me. that's when i get mad. if a synopsis says the MC's a smart cunning person but then you read the story and the MC's only 1 digit above mentally challenged (calling them retarded is an insult to retarded people) and does anything and everything possible to try and kill himself by pissing off everyone he can including his own family, that's when i can't help but feel the chinese don't realize what 'smart' and 'cunning' is.

 

Yup ... some titles/covers just are a huge fat LIE ...

Overall I was feeling more tricked by the synopsis of some novels (Beast Piercing the Heavens - I LOOK at your 1st one ... ) and tags like 'smart' 'intelligent' etc.
