This is what did happen when Journey to the West was made in Japan in 1978 ... well before CGI. So nostalgic. An English dub was released in UK, Australia, and New Zealand. It was pretty big Downunder wayback then, and the show was rerun several times over the years. In a time before the internet, and when ABC was the only channel available in the outback, we shut up and took what we could get. And you know, all those over the top old-time wire-fu action scenes, colourful costumes, exotic scenery, quirky humour, and a somewhat decent plot, added up to some nice after-school viewing. Hmmm.. I hear a remake is being produced in New Zealand too, but I'm not hearing good things about it. We'll have to wait and see.
