Well, I almost never reread what I wrote either, so I can understand...

Don't look at your writing as trash though! Keep trying! >.<

maybe you see it as trash, but it could be good to others. if you leave them in a google docs and invite me I can do an alpha review for you ;) perk your confidence up some, promising writers!

hopefully, my on re-write goes well and then I can start writing chapter2 to my latest short piece hehe

Yes, I read my own books when editing it. If I find any cringy parts, I'll remove it, because if it's cringy even for me, then it's certainly cringy for everyone else. However, I don't reread my first stories. Those made me embarrassed.

I won't tell you what those titles were, but if you've been following me for the past 6 years, you would know what I mean. No, it's not the one I'm currently peddling.

I reread my first stories sometimes out of nostalgia... I cringe sooooooooo much!!!!! >.<

Still, they have a lot of sentimental value, so... It's okay.

If you're going to write, I think you've got to at least somewhat enjoy reading your own work. Maybe when you're done you might hate it, but for the time you're working on it you have to find some sort of appreciation for it.

One of the authors I've been following actually posts his work as he goes. Apparently he rereads and rewrites it 30-40 times each chapter, adjusting it and re-adjusting it. Following these edits from start to finish was a very neat insight as to how he created the story. Only reading the finished and polished result is entertainment, but watching someone who has some skill in the process of working their craft is really neat- especially when you like the story itself.

Some people got mad about this and he's more or less posting things and then doing tiny edits for grammar now, but it was still a cool thing to see.

Sometimes I reread my old stories to see if there were any improvements in my writing in regards to grammar, character development, and plot. I sometimes feel a bit of regret for dropping some stories I think hold such promise.
