Discussion Should I read Desolate Era?

Its kind of shit in my opinion, relies way to hard on refining yin bones or whatever they are.

 

As someone who read completely all that I have to say is that it's definitely worth the read, but you should read for the journey not the ending because if you go expecting a great ending you will probably be disappointed.

 

Because one of the reviews stated exactly my plight with mc's acting.

And what my comment is saying to the OP is that he shouldn't give a fuck about your opinion and just read and judge for himself. Since he likes IET he will probably like DE.

 

I think it's great up to when the major war starts up. At that point I lost interest. It stopped being what I wanted to read. Up to that point I didn't find it particularly dark.

As for his wife, the author telegraphed a bad end for her before the war even started.

as it is right now he pulled their true souls or whatever out of the river of souls and created new bodies for them. they were like holy shit how strong is our son.

 

Except AST is filled with it and it's just a small part of DE. Thankfully.

 

I like Xian Ni exactly because it's dark, right from the start, no loved ones to lose. No funny characters that you attach yourself to. Just KILL! KILL! KILL! lol.

 

I found the the Three Realms arc interesting. Afterwards, it was boring. As for death of loved ones, considering it's IET's work, how long do you think they will stay dead for?

 

Maybe it's just me but I always find IET's MC to be bland. It's fine in the beginning but I always end up dropping the novels after a while.

 

It is a good read. For me what makes DE good is the progression of the MC. How he cultivate and gain strength. It may get a little boring after the three realm arc because there aren't any big plot but for me it is kinda of interesting because it focus more on the MC journey to become strong without the help of a big plot.

 

yes. altough it has a bit of a slower start, and is a bit cliché at first, it soon evolves and manages to create a universe of it's own. the writer does a good job keeping the mc op, but not so op as to be unbeatable, which makes the story incredibly fun to read. he also manages the newfound powers pretty well, and you don't have that disconnect where the mc suddenly has no more opponents and starts behaving like an ass.

the background, world, system of cultivation, and rivals are all also well made and well thought out.

 

All novels by IET are worth a read. even if only to broaden your horizons.

 

Only mc have strong plot armor since he is the MC.

For me, I like to read all of IET novels

The only tragedy in DE is that it becomes boring real fast.

 

One arc of DE is really depressing, but it's a good arc nevertheless, and isn't all that depressing afterwards.

 

Look at all these goofballs saying DE or TNC or whatever from IET is dark, as if... you would need to care for characters that the rare tragedy could bother you, but it's a xianxia! IET is well known to be bad at romance, no one cares for those shallow 1d characters.
