I don't know, I've seen some pretty deep harems, twenty thirty people at least, the unrealistic real life ones reached ninety something....

Avoid making ultra-pure MC's, I'm not telling you to make him an edgy avenger but most novels presents us "normal" guys that never get angry no matter how many times someone (tsundere love interest) steps on their dignity, or how they forgive people trying to kill them too easily.
Balance is pretty important when writing characters, let's say a guy try to kill the MC based on a misunderstanding and they resolve it.A normal JP MC will forgive the guy like "it's nothing", an edgy kid would kill him and a balanced MC would probably ask a favor to even things out.

Wins lottery like almost every week.
Fcks girls and never mention them again.
Yeah ghost/master talking pet/girl master compainions.
Lastly I'm so dense like all other jap mc and the girls gonna like me since thats how it should be even though im so useless and indecisive AF while being weak AF I sometimes act cool but kindergarten level cool like. wow bubbles floating kind of cool.

Best thing you can do is make a story where events happen independent of the mc and can affect or even railroad the MCs plan. it tends to be more immerse and realistic. Avoid to many deus ex machina, dont force the romance, give the mc real motivations, use foreshadowing, show struggle. If you have time, read the dark king. It was one of the few CN novels i read that wasnt idiotic.

    Show Struggles, failures, and triumph.

All of these faults will also make it worse if repeated over and over again.
For me the story can’t be to unrealistic.
For instance the world is base on dungeons and the only way to get anything is by killing monsters. You want jewels, clothing, or anything you have to kill a monster. Hell you’ve got to kill a monster for air. There is no option for farming, manufacturing, or anything. I love kingdom building novels.
    That’s what I mean unrealistic.
Another turn off is if the MC does something uncharacteristic. Like getting a side quest that has nothing to do with the story. Not only does it derail the story it also pulls the whole feel sideways.
I also hate novels that tells about the previous chapters. Come on we read all the way here do we really need a recap.
Another irritating thing novels do is put to much filler chapters or they take to long to get to the part you been waiting for.
Well I could go on and on, but this is a good start.

Every trope in existence has haters, but they usually also have people who like them.

It's your story make it your own. But for most light novels NTR is a no no
Also the harem collectors are pretty much stale these days
And no matter how much japan tries to make it so: RAPE IS NOT FUNNY, stop trying japan!

beginner authors who decide to make their mc a "genius" and then fail miserably because they don't realise that a genius needs to make informed decisions

No sudden genre change unless it the main focus of the story.

Few of the point had already been mentioned above.
    So, here are some:
Politics, MC having 1k%+ luck, if its weak to strong then make it that way not like where MC is borned of a mixed blood and got bloodline power or something, don't need to collect treasures that would change the fate.
If its strong from the beginning, that MC should have behavior like 'shikamaru'.

Don't make every freaking villain disposable. Look at Loki in the marvel cinematic universe franchise. He may literally be the only villain who actually matters, because the rest are all pretty much bland and forgettable.

"Cool" or "dark" MC (those are boring, it you want something like that create an AI or a machine, not a human).
side charactere that only fullfill a function (childhood's friend, sidekick, annoying "monkey" charactere who is really annoying, etc.). They should have personnality or if you can't do it as its difficult at least be unique enough to remember them.

Worlds with no background, except if it's for comedy. I skipped so many time the introduction of the world with the general location and random name that the author come up with. They are boring and are a bad way to introduce the lore in my opinion.

Event that happen for no reason. It result in the feel that the author doesn't know where his own story is headed and that's way too abrupt. The not so important stuff is okay however.

And last, don't try to tie the story to the love life of the mc except if it's a novel centered on his/her love. Love that span over thousand of years (i eat tomato *cough*) isn't really realistic and it's really annoying to always see the main MC's love being kidnapped for the sake of advancing the plot line, or the fact she can't say she is from a super big clan (but is send alone in the mortal world) etc.

Don't put ur fantasies out of nowhere just because
U can put them but make them actually enjoyable to read and to relate
Also if ur doing romance never touch the Asian novel standards in romance
Lets not talk about Chinese every girl falls for the mc or Japanese fuck a girl once she's urs now
Get ur side caracters a good soul or personality
And try not to make ur mc too op
That JUST bring stupid repetitive plots and no real fun in reading
Novel IN which the mc is a realist little shit are actually pretty popular
And please don't make the mc do whatever a girl heroin wants him to do when they first meet
