Discussion Temporary Acquired Taste

This is about drinking so you know... 21+

You know when you are very smashed or maybe halfway smashed, and you can feel the buzz right around the corner and then you run our of good beer and start drinking beer which tastes similar to piss but you are too close to blacking out to care? Could this be considered an acquired taste? I mean, you would never drink this brand when you are still sober and even when you are drunk you got better sense than drinking that brand, but then you run out of other types of alcohol and beers and that's the one set of six packs which are left because everyone avoided it but no one is sure who brought it or why but now you either stop and put and end to the domino game or drop the controllers or you just say fuck it and proceed to drink this diluted piss without even blinking.

Anyone been on this situation before? What do you do in this case do you just stop drinking and give your liver some respite or do you plow through and just inhale that water-like liquid just to get to the end of the session?

 

Yep, I thought that was attributed to (my own) alcoholism....

A buzz is great but if one drinks to "black out"... well I don't really know what to say.

1-2 shots at the beginning and then 1-2 bears rest of the night to keep the buzz alive. Not like you drink because it´s hot or your thirsty. You also skip 42 toilet trips when the beer runs right through your kidneys.

 

You're supposed to eat as you drink to protect your liver. Meat + Wine + Flowers (Women) = What is best in life. not "To crush your enemies. See them driven before you. And to hear the lamentations of their women" or even "hot water, good dentishtry and shoft lavatory paper".

 

It's not only beer, if you already drunk that much that you only taste water than you should stop.

I like to drink for socialising, having fun and for the taste. But if you feel that it won't end good if you drink any more then just stop. Just stop.

If not you may end up with a black out, naked and a lot of vomit in your toilet/bathroom with stories you don't want to hear or remember

.... I think it is an acquired taste .. And i also think it's temporary.., you'll have to face the same mental exhaustion when u want to drink that 'drink' again... (Some people can make it last and used to it)

 

Hmmm... weird... That never happens to me. I am a heaven-drinker. I need to drink at least 36-40 cans of beers to feel the buzz that you are talking about. And no, I don't black-out from it after exceeding the limits. I did feel dizzy after around 45 cans of beers. But aside from that, I don't lose memories or anything like it. I recall every detail clearly- too clearly, in fact. My brother had said that they would never take me to go out drinking again but I drink like I was drinking juice/water instead of alcohol.

 

if you're that drunk then the best thing in the world is grabbing some drunk food. some drunk pizza is infinitely better than forcing down some natty lite.

that being said, if you're just pretty drunk instead of straight up hammered it can save some money to swap to a lower quality beer. no real point to pushing yourself to black out imo.

"Acquired taste" refers to a longer period of time. It doesn't sound like you're enjoying the drink, just aiming for the alcohol in it, so you won't acquire a taste for it.

Also, seek treatment for your alcohol problem.

 

They're called Bud Light, Coors Light, and Budweiser.
Basically any light beer, you'll probably get more of a buzz drinking water.

But isn't alcohol in general considered an acquired taste?

Rather then acquiring the taste isnt it more like ur tastebuds are dead?
I mean just because u ate the miracle food who makes everything sweet doesn't mean you acquired the taste of bitter foods.

Yah but by that point I stopped feeling my tongue a long time ago, and its only in USA that the age is 21 every piece of south america you start drinking at 13

 

I can't take it as aquired taste, more like numbing of the palatte... you just stop tasting the shit you put in your mouth...

I'm not a heavy drinker but
After a long week of heavily partying in city parties (?Yeah you know , it's called feria in french , totally ludic and cultural) I usually taste the water for a few days as if it is vodka and can drink pure stuff (btw like vodka without anything else and sh*t , while outside of this timephase I almost throw up with half a mouthful of pure vodka )
