I think his personality is fit for the legendary hero type of character too. You know, the selfless guy that gives everything he has to save the world and basically becames so larger than life that other people can't keep up with him, like, well, hate to be the guy that say this literally ten minutes after refuting it but, Batman. Or Superman. You know, the gods of DC that can't have a normal relationship because they have to carry the weight of the world in their shoulders.
Couldn't wait any longer and ended up reading ahead If you guys are really interested... Spoiler: Erika spoiler For you Erika shippers, you get an event at chapter 38! More stuff happens in part 3 but this is the closest one you can look forward too. Pretty much Erika visits Harold while he's waiting for his new duties as a patrol guard to start. They talk for once, and the conversation eventually turns to their engagement. Of course Harold says he's going to cancel it in the future, Erika responds that she doesn't want it annulled, and her inner monologue at the time he asks 'why?' is HEARTBREAKING! (Rough Translation, I'm still learning) *Erika POV* "Are you so insensitive that you don't realize it?! Do you really I think I dislike you that much?! Those aren't my true feelings! I want this engagement to stay!" Taken back by Erika's resolute response, Harold murmured to himself in a small voice. "...Why? Why do you want to accept such a hard reality?" Its because I met with you. I wanted to say those words so badly. I was inexorably attracted to your way of life, where you wouldn't hesitate in the slightest to protect others even if it would bring you pain. Fascinated by your strong beliefs, I had fallen in love with you before I even noticed. Looking at Harold's figure who had just muttered such words, I wanted to tell him so bad. I wanted to ask him to look at me as a member of the opposite sex, as another person. I could feel my feelings of longing and affection welling up inside, but I desperately tried to suppress it. ...I couldn't do it. The moment I did, I would only bring more things for Harold to worry about, and he's already suffered so much. It took a while, but after clearing my throat with a *Kohon*, order came back to my mind again. "...its because Harold's power is great. It would not be a lie if I said I was envious of it." etc. As for Collete... Spoiler: Collete Spoiler She pretty much disappears until the recent chapters (around 70 or so... I think? I forget), where surprisingly, she DOESN'T leave the village with Ryner, when he goes on his journey and the 'game' starts. So... yeah, that ship is looking shaky...
Spoiler: question is she still madly in love with harold then o.o also her mom isn't exactly dead either so she has no reason to leave the village. Dammit erika why you gotta lie!
Spoiler: Collete Okay, yeah it was ch.73 where she appears again. I don't think Collete was ever in love with Harold in the first place. She was grateful to him for saving her mom, but I don't think she ever fell in love. In the chapter her inner monologue was wishing that Ryner wouldn't leave and that he'd just stay by her side, but she keeps quiet because she knows if she said so then her weakness that shows how she's always been protected would be exposed. The monologue continues by saying that if she left with him, the 'ending of his adventure' would change, and she doesn't want that.... whatever that means. Like DANG IT what's with these characters and their inner monologues in this story?!
Spoiler: well character monologue seems to be the style used here to develop characters with background info glued to it. Also, i mean yeah she probably does have a complex about being protected now because of a certain mc that has a potty mouth. Hah harold everyone gonna know you as the crazy guy whos a battle junkie now.
The MC ability to still talk arrogantly while being scared out of his wits is very interesting. But most of the time it sounded off like tsundere talk to me. Or is that what the authors is trying to do?
After read the latest chapter... I wonder if displaying his strength that much was a good idea.. some people might become wary of him and regard him as dangerous existance.. he could keep a low profile until he gain influence or until he can grasp his sorrounding situation..
I'm the new translator for the series, please take care of me! >.< *bows* I promise to see this through to the end!
pretty interested in the army troupe he's in right now for the translated chapters. I want to see him to get closer to more characters
