Thats stupid.. they should just say they want some money from the people cause you can kill a person with a pencil, heck you can do it with a slightly thick twig if you use enough force in the right place.. this kinda reminded me of when I first moved to Turkey.. if you haven't bought a phone from within the country then you have to pay to 'register' it as well as 'customs' for 'security purposes' otherwise they'll lock it (network wise). In the end they just want to take some money from people purchasing phones from overseas while boosting, as well as inflating, their own economy with regards to electronics.. *sigh* governments and 'the man' nowadays are just complete money grubbed imo
That's just stupid. If people in prison can make a shiv in jail then a criminal can make a knife with zero problems for a few bucks. Besides, what if the perp just keeps the knife and washes it? It isn't like the wound will have the barcode on it
3 CNY is less than 0.50 USD. Either way, the biggest cost is the time it takes to actually go to the government to get bar codes on old knives. Also, I like how people make arguments against a law by stating that criminals will circumvent it. By that logic, no law should ever exist because, well, criminals. No speed limits, no criminal laws, no environmental standards . . . There are a lot of valid arguments you can make against this law, such as the built-in ethnic/religious biases. Circumvention by criminals is not one of them.
The fault is not at the weapons, but at the person. As people can kill with anything as long they have the killing intent. Be it with knives, icepicks, a club, ram with vehicles,etc. so maybe the one to get barcode should be people? like with a tracking device, to see who the person in the right time and the right place of murder.
