Question History of NU and NUF

Can someone inform me on how NU and NUF started? Like when, by whom, and why? Also, like how did it grow to where it is today. I'm really curious especially with like what the mods/admins/creators actually do irl like do they code? were they like they stereotypical story of some college kids wanting to mess around and create a site to track novel updates and it eventually surprisingly growing into a big community. When was NUF added? Are there plans for the future like an official app? Who's our mascot? Is there like some NU office? How did they discover web novels and translations?

First there was Baka Updates, where people posted newly released translations of anime, and things were good.
Then that forked into Manga updates, where people posted newly released translations of manga, and things were good.
Then a long time passed.
Eventually, the novel translation scene took off in earnest, but without a place to index where all these translations were being posted, people were lost. As a stopgap, people chose to use Manga updates, and things were okay for a while.
But then eventually, manga updates was completely flooded with Novels, which drew ire from certain members of the scanslation community.
Somewhere around this point, Aho updates was spawned, and was bloody awful forever.

Then our lord and saviour Tony gifted upon us Novel Updates, and things were good.

What does NUF stand for? Sorry, just call me a noob...

 

It all happened when two ancient cultivator clans started fight amongst each other. The fight got so intense that both clans were destroyed, leaving only ruins of what was once the strongest power on the continent.
Many years later, a young traveler found the clans archives and started spreading the knowledge to other people. Yet, the content was so vast and disseminated so fast that it got hard to keep track of what was being circulated. It was then that one sect rose above all with the sacred duty to keep record of all these ancient legacys, so people could find the information they needed without having numerous tabs.
Thus, this is the story of how NU started.

A lot of people went to /r/lightnovels before tony created NU for updates when there weren't any good trackers except manga updates (which isn't a good tracker anyway)

 

In the non-distant past, the mascot of NUF was, of course, @Satan who all NU users knowingly or unknowingly worship.
